I had my 2017 raptor leaky plastic oil pan replaced by ford dealership twice and each time leaked again after a few months. . I decied to go to my local auto shop and have them replace with a metal oil pan from a 2018 raptor. The pick up tube also needs to be replaced as well in order to fit. . . . No more leaky oil pan for me eversince.
Make sure you clean the surface well and the sealant HAS to sit ideally 12-16 hours once installed before putting oil back in the truck. Otherwise you're doing it again. 17 years experience with Ford
On a scale of 1 to 10 this should be a 2…. (Says the guy working in his OWN shop, with his own LIFT, and owns EVERY tool ever made) 🤴🏻 Meanwhile in the “real world”: I’ll be laying down on my driveway - hoping my Harbor Freight jack stands hold up 🦧
The plastic part is only the lower half. A metal pan replacement is much more involved! Edit: My 2018 3.5 Ecoboost has a leak free plastic oil pan! 65k of overlanding and trailer towing so far.
I have 200k miles on my Raptor running like champ I did have to replace sunroof rails And oil pan was replaced once I think it leaking again but next time I’m not going with plastic oil pan I’m going with metal oil pan. 👍🏻 raptors are great truck with great 3.5 eco boost engine However great great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for sharing man! I learned the forscan tricks thanks to your vids. Hopefully you will teach us how to do a radiator flush and upgrade the coolant fluid with the new version. No videos on yt for raptors. Cheers
@ZeroToAwesome so u have changed it twice or went from 30k to 75k with it leaking lol? But should have plenty of time if u have only put 5k on it so far
@@Mikek6771 ford replaced it under warranty at 30. Probably made it to 50 or so before it started leaking again but I had mods by then and didn’t want to take it in b/c I figured they’d say it was my fault. I ignored it until it became a daily puddle. We’ll see!
This reminds me of my 18 Raptor. I absolutely loved that truck. However, it definitely did not love me back. I too had my plastic oil pan replaced with another plastic one and it still continued to leak oil. Along with a handful of other problems that my Raptor gave me in abundance. It was my dream truck but unfortunately I had to get rid of it.
It's not a brand issue. It's a modern vehicle combined with EPA and weight savings requirements. Buddy had a TRX and it was in the shop more than he drove it. Had shifting issues, the ring and pinion exploded while he was taking his son to baseball practice and even fried the pcm when they had to update it. That's why modern vehicles suck.
You need to go ahead and drink a few pickle beers. 1 for owning a Ford, 1 for owning a 21st century vehicle, and 1 for taking it to the stealership for repairs.

Sounds like I’ll be looking for a metal oil pan if it starts leaking again!

imagine being a ford executive and asking your engineers to make an oil sump out of plastic, on an off road vehicle! 😂
That's pretty sad for what those trucks cost its made for off roading and they put a plastic oil pan really

2 or 10, when it starts leaking again in a few months no lift or tools are going to save me from a pickle beer!
Any plastic engine parts spell trouble sooner or later.
Not sure I’d be brave enough to install another plastic pos. At least it is another video idea…
There’s a good chance you’ll see a metal oil pan soon if I keep the truck!

Fix Or Repair Da…. Well you know. Time for a TRex!!🦖
Can’t say I haven’t been pricing them out…

FordTechMaculoco shows how to change out for a full aluminum pan. Know issues with F150 of that age

How's it holding up still? How many miles you have on the raptor??
Still good but I’ve only put 5k on it since the repair. The first pan didn’t start leaking til 30k so hopefully I’ve got some time! 80k on it overall

You should Coyote swap it. Not sure I’ve seen anyone C swap a Raptor… think you could pull it off!
Best idea yet!
It would be great content!

I feel like I’m reliving your experience right now. What’d you get after the Raptor?
@@ZeroToAwesome I got a TRX and it’s been great. I miss the Ford number pad on the driver door pillar though. That thing was clutch.
Your phasers are shot
That’s ford’s early warning system. Lets you know the Klingons are close
@@ZeroToAwesomerofl nice!

I used to think I wanted one…
Most impressive!!! ….
10x you say?
I’ve got a plan…
Use a steel oil pan replacement .

Gonna be drunk off pickle beer!!🍺
The more you drink, the better it will taste!@@ZeroToAwesome
