Best thing about Wolf as a death is that he fits really well into the series and into the story as a whole and that's because just like Puss, we too were ''ignoring'' the consequences and the deadly risks throughout his story because it always was ''just an animated story for kids'', thus Wolf appearing after that time fits really well.
Death actually shows up in quite a few fairy tales. Sometimes compassionate, sometimes predatory, but always inevitable. So really, he fits right in with a world based on them.

I love the whole vibe of Puss's ego getting shattered during this song. It's like Death cares more about humbling him than killing him. Making him think twice about acting like he's above the dangers of his reckless antics and lives.
This movie is so awesome, and this song is so lit! The wolf is one of the best antagonists we have seen so far for several years! SPOILER : Also, he is a good antagonist because he puss litterally laughs to the face of death, so he never gave credit to his lifes. Puss is a fearless hero but he’s so fearless that he didn’t value his lives (as he lost his 8) The wolf his the perfect antagonist because he inspires fear, who fights a « fearless hero ». I said antagonist because an antagonist needs to conflict with the hero’s values (here the value of life) and need to push the hero to his limits (as the Joker with Batman) because puss had an identity crisis because of that (that’s the reason why he wants the wish, to become again a fearless hero, cuz he will have his lives back so that he can waste them again, and become back the legend). But he is a so well written antagonist because he is not evil. Death’s whistle is what got me. When first introduced to him it was with the whistle, that ethereal haunting whistle like the ring of a blade about to end a life, the finality of it, throughout the film death could of easily ended puss at any point but that wasn’t the point he wanted puss to know that this was not something he could run from, every time you heard that whistle you knew what was coming there but he never killed puss, this was never his goal he wanted puss to know that there was no escape there was no way out, death was not a promise but a verdict immutable,unchanging and inescapable and this verdict was death

Yeah I could of worded it better, I was talking about how through out the film death could of easily just ended puss but from the first time we meet death (when he breaks puss’s delusions of being invulnerable) to the crystal cave with all of puss previous lives(when he makes puss see the reality of what is to come), death could of easily of put puss in the grave with zero effort, but he wanted puss to understand that this was the price you play when you bet against death, you always lose. that final scene when he goes to strike unarmed puss was the conclusion to that gamble he didn’t care what puss in boots had to lose or who he would leave behind, puss had a debt and death came to collect
they couldve easily made like 8 movies about each of Puss's lives to give a huge "pay-off" with the last-wish but im glad they didn't, because by making them just flashbacks, it fits puss's character more: "oh those were just the past me's, i live in the present"

The fact that they did the wolf justice and making him be death is kind of awesome he really is. He’s not a bad guy, but he is really cool. I mean he’s a total bad ass.
I haven’t seen this movie yet, hell, I completely forgot about it. And then I saw this epic badarse short featuring Death and I fell in love with his character! So now I have to watch this movie just so I can see more of this wolf. I’m not surprised I like the wolf’s character considering wolves are my absolute favorite animal and I love anything dark, gory or related to death. Death’s whistle is what got me. When first introduced to him it was with the whistle, that ethereal haunting whistle like the ring of a blade about to end a life, the finality of it, throughout the film death could of easily ended puss at any point but that wasn’t the point he wanted puss to know that this was not something he could run from, every time you heard that whistle you knew what was coming there but he never killed puss, this was never his goal he wanted puss to know that there was no escape there was no way out, death was not a promise but a verdict immutable,unchanging and inescapable and this verdict was death

Yeah I could of worded it better, I was talking about how through out the film death could of easily just ended puss but from the first time we meet death (when he breaks puss’s delusions of being invulnerable) to the crystal cave with all of puss previous lives(when he makes puss see the reality of what is to come), death could of easily of put puss in the grave with zero effort, but he wanted puss to understand that this was the price you play when you bet against death, you always lose. that final scene when he goes to strike unarmed puss was the conclusion to that gamble he didn’t care what puss in boots had to lose or who he would leave behind, puss had a debt and death came to collect
they couldve easily made like 8 movies about each of Puss's lives to give a huge "pay-off" with the last-wish
but im glad they didn't, because by making them just flashbacks, it fits puss's character more: "oh those were just the past me's, i live in the present"

The reason I love the wolf is he is not even a character in the movie, not a villain neither a hero nor was he in the plot . But he gave a shiver down everyone's spine , despite children or adult and became the major plot of the movie. Truly, I AM DONE RUNNING.
