  • This 1986 BMW E28 M5 has done almost enough miles to reach the moon! There are many things we like about the E28 M5, it’s the original super saloon for one but what we love to see even more is a car that has been so clearly well used and enjoyed.

    To me, the late 80's and early 90's were more or less the pinnacle of modern cars. Technology was good enough for daily use, and it was just prior to companies realizing they should cheapen cars so we'd buy more of them (they were genuinely making them "too good" and discovering people weren't buying more cars). The only downsides would be safety and even that was coming on decently in the early 90's. Everything since has just been "more horsepower" and more creature comforts, something I don't need in a car.

      @vibingwithvinyl ปีที่แล้ว

      True. You could still daily a (better) 90's car just fine. I daily a 2004 Nissan Maxima A33 and while it's not _exactly_ a 90's car as it came out in 2000, it's pretty much based on the A32 Maxima that was in production from 1994 to 1999.

      You can daily an escort RS turbo, I did but sadly some knob tried stealing it as apparently it’s easier to steal than work for things🤦🏼‍♂️🤬
      Still have it 24yrs later as got a good one and you can still daily it when you want to, just avoid water🤷‍♂️😂
      Tbh I’ve worked in the motor trade all my life for various manufacturers and all cars rust in the U.K. if used during the winter and rain, Christ modern cars suspension is falling apart after 5yrs!!!
      Cars are built to a cost sadly even Bentleys I found out when working for them, if looked after well they will last forever if things are kept on top of, people don’t spend what’s needed 99% of the time👌🏻

    Crazy how small it looks nowadays, a modern 2-series is probably already bigger than this...
    Didn´t feel that small back in the days, even tho it was barely any bigger than an E36. 🤷‍♂

    Cool car and great to see it’s been driven a few miles but this video is poor. What’s it like to drive? How does it feel after that kind of mileage? How has the engine and interior faired over that distance? How’s it compare to a modern M5? All relevant questions, none of which were answered.

    A lovely car of course but meaning no disrespect I thought this was a very meh video, lacking editoral focus or spirit and I learnt nothing about that particular M5. My recommendation: try Harry’s Garage for the real deal. Or anything by Chris Harris. Or the TG folks, they don’t sugar coat it.

    I had one of these back in the day. I kept it for almost 12 years then I saw one that had been in a serious collision and there was literally nothing left of the vehicle. The engine had been caught right into the passenger compartment. The trunk lid was where the backseat used to be and the steering wheel had pushed right through the chest of the driver. Ah, the good old days...
    Oh, and if you think that this is a low dollar way of getting into the BMW experience, I think again with three fuel pumps, and prone to rusting everywhere and the primitive thermal reactor pollution control system setting fire to grass every time you drive anywhere, this is not a vehicle I would recommend. I suppose the upside is that look like a classic BMW. Maybe that's all that matters.
