Kibitz, I believe cleaning up poop bay would also increase your cities attractiveness and increase your tourism. If all tourists see while walking along the water are floating turds, they will not be happy. Cheers.
in a future city, you should implement a bridge setup similar to that of Pittsburgh's fort pitt tunnel bridge. the over-water bridges are on top of one another and result in fast travel :)
That sounds cool, makes sense and I have seen the Fort Pitt and Duquesne bridges in real life but i don’t know if cs2 lets you build highways over highways.
I think you need to work on your lane maths, might help the merging problem, but honestly I've cant imagine playing cities without traffic manager, so I've been holding off for it's successor before really diving in. You also want to try and have exits before enterances to reduce weaving... that bypass lane is the right idea.
You can use the regular airport to go to and from the international and other airports, so you can ship the slaves, I mean workers, and more importantly the goods (OIL) around the map. And since air traffic isn't a thing, it takes stress off of your preexisting infrastructure, and doesn't put it anywhere else.
@@rccookie6202 sometimes they jank around even without much traffic though. And it tends to certain spots and often those spots disappear when you redraw the road.
Alternative options for reaching your destination = less traffic. Build more trains, subways, trams, buses, and pedestrian access. Construct fewer roads, and you will have less traffic.
I’ve found that when they get stuck like they do at 7:30 just delete the section or sections of road where the jam is, unpause for a couple seconds and then rebuild them. I’ve had them literally get stuck all trying to get into one lane and not moving at all.
The normal airport might fit on the island in the industry side and you can connect passenger route from international to small airport and move citizens by plane accross the river
As a City Planner Plays fan, your highway infrastructure gives me goosebumps and anger. I love it. But, you should simplify the main highways so the AI can handle it better
For traffic, mine went down when I built a bunch of bus stops. Some stops along the routes share stops with other bus routes. Then I priced it cheap to incentivize use and the traffic went down a lot. Also, for tourism, i built a lot of parks and made additions to the cementary to boost city attractiveness. The parks i made boosted the most attractiveness which made people want to visit. The more attractive, the more tourists and more money per tourist. My city gets an acerage of nearly $2,000 per tourist.
The city has millions of people in it, so no matter how many lanes are built, everyone using their own car will never be feasible. But a single bus or tram can carry dozens, and a single train or plane hundreds, which really cuts down on road usage and can save the city from total gridlock (not that gridlock stops production, for some reason).
What I did to boost my tourism is I built an space rocket thing. It actually broke my tourism and now it's over 300+. I'm also having the same problem with traffic especially on highways where they will change lanes to exits last second causing traffic. I recently built a acity next to the end of the map and for some reason there's an excessive amount of taxi's. I have an overabundance amount of public transportation for cheap and yet the taxi to general cars is almost the same. Anyone got ideas on how to solve it? Because I think removing all those taxis will help with my traffic problems as well.
Yeah, CS2 was an opportunity to consolidate the DLC and community mods into a fresh, bug-free package. Not only did they just not include a bunch of things that should be base game, they also made a buggier game than the first one. I will still play CS2 over CS1 because a lot of things _are_ better in the sequel, but it's more like a trade-off instead of direct improvement. Modular airports, bike lanes, prop line tool, traffic manager... it should've all be in the game from launch.
Do not connect cargo lines. Do not add cargo terminal to small airport. Your mail storage will get backed up and people will complain about not getting their mail. Its a bug and will tank your city happiness.
Hi Kibitz, i greatly enjoy your videos for cities skylines 2. Inspires me to play the game more! I noticed something interesting in the game, if you put the tax for vehicles on commercial high you will see your money grow so much faster. The people don’t seem to care about it and buys their cars anyway. Managed to get about 15m profit in 85k population. Note that my city isn’t close to the efficiency you have on the rest of the city. Almost all of my profit comes from it. 😊
The traffic issue i think is caused by the following: Based on other youtubers experience as well as mine and knowledge from the previous game. You need lane-hierarchy . The traffic AI is almost the same as in CS. So they need proper lane management, if you create a ramp off with 1-2 lanes those lanes need to be present previously then after the ramp you need to decrease the main road lane size by the amount of lanes you off ramped. This goes around with the merging lanes as well, you merge x lanes after you merge you need to have those lanes present in the main road.
Make sure to have enough Road maintenance service buildings, cars may try to avoid accidents, virtual 'potholes' and such, which can cause them to randomly stop or switch lanes, badly maintained roads can also cause lots of skids and accidents or crashes, which will also delay traffic (I saw lots happening during your rebuilding) Also, if you turn off grid snapping for the buildings, you can more freely place them, and center them perfectly ;)
I remember hearing you want as few nodes as possible on roads. I don't remember exactly where but cims do the lane switching at nodes so removing excess nodes should help with traffic.
Cars changing lanes in middle roads is a problem related to nodes, simply erase the node, replacing the road or demolishing and rebuilding it entirely. thats why i love mods, now we dont have them. Always consider ur roads like veins in a body, more lanes to less lanes, much more roads with less lanes and just a few with a bunch of lanes, also consider the speed of the road too.
I think a better way to think about highways is to consider them as cargo transport rather than inner-city connectivity. Highways are usually better used to manage local shipping for industry so trucks don't clog access roads, and letting mass transit handle transporting citizens between major hubs.
I’m pretty sure that you can actually change the lanes on roads/ highways like you could with the mod in city skylines. It’ll show as coloured lines and you can give the lanes specific routes/ directions to deal with traffic
to fix traffic merging, you must have the correct amount of slip lanes, in and out.. so highway math, 2 lanes in + 3 lanes in is a 5 lane out, 5 lanes in, and lose 1 lane, turns to a 4... and then funnel, you merge all traffic together as much as you can, limiting which lane they have available, the AI is smart, if you tell them proper lane usage.
I read "How to RUN YOUR CITY". 11 minutes into the video started to question if this video delivers, then read the title again. Nice and entertaining content though! 😂
Imkibtz, you have not done an end of game world tour in satisfactory yet. Also, parachute and Pulse Nobelisk are so overpowered together you can go up for ever until you run out of Pulse Nobelisk
the cars switching lanes at 90 degrees and 0 speed is the cause of the traffic not the lack of options, and thats so sad... why can't they make it more fluid?
Hi mate, just a bit of advice to fix the traffic problem. Your problem is too many cars on the road add way more public transport. That is more ideal for the AI to use than cars. Obviously you still have some cars on road but a lot less 👍
Kibitz, I believe cleaning up poop bay would also increase your cities attractiveness and increase your tourism. If all tourists see while walking along the water are floating turds, they will not be happy. Cheers.
I consider a river with turds floating down it a tourist attraction to be blatantly honest.

I've noticed that lane math doesn't work in CS2.

And since air traffic isn't a thing, it takes stress off of your preexisting infrastructure, and doesn't put it anywhere else.
The cars acting weird might be because of messed up nodes. Try redrawing those sections of highways.
Or I've noticed that the current set of traffic needs to clear before they start acting normal again
They drive sharper turns the slower they are, which is why this only really occurs when there’s already a traffic jam
@@rccookie6202 sometimes they jank around even without much traffic though. And it tends to certain spots and often those spots disappear when you redraw the road.
@@joshuahess7197 Yes, if you have nodes too close together, they will also do these sharp turns
After any major road update, the first 15 -20 minutes the AI freaks trying to adjust. After a little bit it gets better.

I've been wondering why he's going all in on highways when public transit is how you actually get rid of traffic.
Because Kibitz loves highways :D Even his walkable city in the last series was a car dependent dystopia :D

that big clusterfuck highway system is way more intersting and funny then some boring buses

Increase minimum taxi fare that to max $50
I’ve seen the taxi issue happen when there’s not enough parking. Also, it’s mostly prevalent when new citizens are moving in.
You are literally the best city skylines youtuber because of just how unique your comedy is

Yes, that’s generally how it works.
The traffic switching lanes and merging horribly reminds me of the commute here in California. The AI is spot on.
I listened to Kibitz’s Spotify music for 108,000 minutes this year. Top me, I dare you.
Kibitz forgetting that busses and trains are a thing
Traffic model has the same issues with merging lanes and clipping planes just like in CS:1 but developers are calling it "realistic driver‘s model“ 😂😂

Do a lot of public transport in the central district to take some people off the streets so that traffic is better
That 8 dollars for a plane ticket is pretty good, the best I can get is 30 dollars from Bellingham Wa to Vegas on Allegiant Air. That's pretty decent.

hey you can build the international airport on a island expanding its land area like what is done by reclaming land
Maybe you should consider moving your sewage away from the downtown river. I don't think tourists would like a view of so much poo.

alternate solution: Move TOURIST PLACE TO A NEW PLACE
It’d be cool if the higher education your citizens had, the better they drove.
The best way to fix alk that trafic is you make the industrial area a gated community . So no cars are allowed 😂😂😂😂.

The gated community messed up my trafficflow aswell, because the district border was on a big thruway

I've been mentally screaming that the gated community was dumb because no one could use the public transit to get to it.
