Cool to see that. I was one of the last people born in the old hospital which was only a kilometer away from the old town you walked through. I lived there for the first 14 years of my life. But I haven’t visited the old town for the last 20 years.
Oh, you missed a major site... If you had crossed the market place and walked up towards the hills, you would have reached a huuuge (neo romanesque?) church, built around 1900, but very impressive. It is so big that it is sometimes called "der Dom der Bergstraße", if I remember correctly.
Since you like old places, you should take some time to visit Trier. It has some buildings that are around 2000 years old. During the summer, they have "event tours" through some of them where they present them in a special way: An actor plays someone from back then, e.g. a gladiator would present the amphitheatre by telling his story how he fought there, how he had to train for it, where the wounded were treated, ... Soon there will be Christmas markets again, they have two close to one another and that is usually very nice, let's see how they'll be this year.
Very good tip, I had visited several years ago but I would like to go back again to see more of the local area. I think this years xmas market may be a little different this year, unfortunately. Hopefully next year will be easier on everyone.
@@jimmydoesgermany5856 As of today, they still say their markets will happen but who knows how and if really... Let's hope for a vaccination and some more normality again.
Funny, watch your video 4km away (Bensheim). Did you know this cool stuff? th-cam.com/video/92sXWVxRr0g/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/XIqbHadXLnk/w-d-xo.html 14:33 I´m not a Porsche supporter, I `m only proud that Heppenheim was in a big bowl commercial ;-)

Sebastian Vettel grew up there.
That's why they call it "Vettelheim" these days!
