This video dates back 15 years and does not reflect the current reality in Iran. The situation in the country has changed significantly since then. Those sharing this clip repeatedly aim to create the impression that life in Iran is favorable, advocating for the West and figures like Trump to engage with the mullahs’ oppressive regime. The individuals promoting this narrative are often aligned with communists, democrats, and globalists. However, the truth is that today, 90 to 95 percent of Iranians are deeply dissatisfied with and resent their government, strongly desiring its overthrow.

There is an old saying in Iran: A guest is a gift from god. Visitors are most welcome & greeted very kindly.
I highly recommend that you pay a visit to this magical land of poetry, mystery & history.
And if you are not invited to a home cooked meal within a week, I shall change my name!

Seen steves' videos of Israel and the "anti-occupation" speech he gave at the Lutheran church in Palo Alto? He has a desperate desire to believe in the non historical Palestine and their peaceful intentions. Guessing that he likes Hamass "freedom fighters" who still are holding the Bibas babies prisoners. Also says Luther gave Jews a hard time--another way of saying Luther was a raging anti-Jewish hatemonger.

Iranian here, at 9:33 Rick Steves should have added that the “profit” the Shah made was actually peanuts, compared to what the west was plundering. I was born in Abadan to a father (and a British mother, btw) who worked as a chemical engineer at the refinery, a year before the coupe that took out Mossadegh. No one can tell me it was better before the revolution. For me and the likes of me, it was heaven. But for the VAST majority, it was a hellish oppressed life. No one dared talk about politics. No one around you could be trusted as they could be SAVAK. But, the class that benefited, and their progeny are still stuck in their classist society, where those who had nothing, worked for them for next to nothing. My two cents….

Great shots and tour, the Ancient History of Persia was indeed wonderful and magnificent. The Shah was very proud of it. The Persian people were great.
Some of the more recent history and current truths I suppose they were censored out. The current govt of Iran is run by Arabs/ Islamist extremists (not Persians) who over threw the Shah govt. The Shah tried very hard to modernize the country but made a few mistakes in his hast trusting the extremist religious Islamist sects/fanatics was one of them and the govt was over thrown..
During Shahs time Iran was very friendly and close even to Israel and America.
Shame about Iranian govt hostility and hatred of Israel today and actually of the govts (not the Persian people) hatred of the US/West.

No! not the conversation was as lively as in any house in Europe, unlike any house in Europe would be correct. Eastern families every meal is together and lively. Living in 5 countries in Europe compels me to say that individualism is everywhere in the West where you are indulged in capital accumulation then enjoying small moments with family at breakfast or dinner. Even the family structure has been penetrated by the state to reduce you to mere commodity and surplus :(

I am astonished by volume of misinformation or outright lies that have been included in this broadcast. The incorrect narratives about Dr. Mosadegh and false information about Shah is amazing. For a person like Rick Steve I tend to believe either he didn’t want to spend time to dig deep enough to get to the facts or he used resources that were politically biased.

If u survived that.. Hehehe never been there but Cairo is like 10 times worse in traffic.. But hey whom am I to judging.. In that chaos i was stunned all were going every direction just inch or maybe less from each other & nothing happened.. Hehehe just saying.. Consider western heavy traffic.. Nice roads lights rules & on & on & smoothly going & accidents & stressful.. I don't know..
