    That drone is why I'm real hesitant to change my exhaust.

      Yep, agreed! I reverted to the OEM exhaust because I couldn't deal with the highway drone and the hearing damage. My toddler likes to take rides around our neighborhood on the Ryker, but I couldn't do that with the TBR S1R exhaust. 👍 --QM

      Thanks for the feedback! Get out and ride, Kelvin! I'm always up for a weekend ride around the Houston area, so drop me a note if you're interested! I'm headed up to Arkansas on October 22-25 to meet with Nick (@fattywithafirearm). We are planning to motocamp in Queen Wilhelmina State Park and spend 2-3 days riding the twisty mountain roads in Arkansas. The invite is open to anyone that wants to tag along... the more the merrier! Cheers! 👍 --QM

    I put a treal performance exhaust on mine without the silencer. It’s definitely loud but its a very deep sound. I tend to put music on and it drowns out the exhaust so I honestly have no plans to add a silencer until I do a lengthy trip. I do love the sound it makes when it engine brakes.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard good things about the Treal exhaust. I might give that a shot sometime in the future, but I'm happy with the return to non-deafening sound levels again with the factory exhaust. Cheers! 👍 --QM

The day rides weren't bad though because it was overcast most of the time. I'll try to edit and post parts 2 & 3 of this ride soon. @QuasiMotard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed! I decided to leave the raw audio for the first portion of the video just so people could judge for themselves how loud the TBR S1R exhaust would be for their tastes. I re-enabled the audio processing at 22:24 to save everyone's ears while watching the video (except for mine during that ride, of course). I couldn't tolerate it and neither could Nick! He didn't want to ride behind me for the next several days because he couldn't even hear himself think over the roar of my exhaust! 🤣 That exhaust is now sitting in a box in my garage... I'll probably find someone that wants it, but I certainly don't. Cheers! 👍 --QM

    Those mudguards Aaron look sort of cool and fitting close is there enough room if stones get caught up?
    Must admit Ryker is a bit to loud for my liking im always in stealth mode.
    I would say this bike is the most comfortable out of your collection especially on long trip a bit like a Honda Goldwing type bike.
    Another good video

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Howdy, Marc, and thanks for the feedback! The Ryker is a noisy beast, for sure. This trip was louder than most because of the new exhaust. I didn't apply any noise-reduction or audio processing in the video until the 22:24 mark just so people could judge for themselves whether or not that exhaust would work for them. Some of my previous Ryker videos were quieter and (somewhat) easier to hear the voice commentary. As for the mudguards and fenders... they are a bit tight, and I've had some rocks become lodged in there temporarily. The Ryker is a reasonably-comfortable machine with its laid-back seating position, but it's always a handful to wrangle on long trips... it requires constant course correction to maintain a straight line. Cheers! 👍 --QM

    How is the handling on the ryker? I’ve seen some reviews and most people say when you get it up to highway speeds it’s a bit shaky/not 100% centered. And the handle bars vibrate. Is that true ?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The high-speed stability is a bit erratic on my Ryker because it has always had an alignment problem. Some Rykers are more stable than others, and I think it depends on very fine differences in the front wheel alignment and the tire treads. The Rally models with the all-season tires tend to wander around a bit more than the non-Rally models with the street treads. I wouldn't call my Ryker's handling "dangerous", but you always need to maintain and correct it to stay on course... much more so than with a motorcycle or a car. The handlebars do vibrate over bumps a lot, but the engine vibrations on the 900 (Rally) aren't bad above idle speeds. Both the 600 and 900 Rykers' bars vibrate a lot at idle.
      Ignoring those inconveniences, the Ryker handles very well for cornering and it is very stable in wet or slippery conditions. You never need to worry about balancing the bike at low speeds (or while stopped) because the 3-wheel platform is inherently balanced. The result of this stability also removes the worry of low-siding or having the bike slip out from under you in corners... just corner at whatever speed feels comfortable to you, and the bike's rider aids (e.g. stability control, traction control, and yaw control) will take care of the rest. It's very hard to push the bike out of its comfort zone because the traction nanny will reign things back under control very quickly. Cheers! 👍 --QM

    if you were in the uk that first fuel stop would have cost you the equivalent of $23...... you use the ryker in cold/wet weather, what they like traction wise?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are lucky to have inexpensive fuel here in the States. The Ryker handles wet and slippery conditions very well. I don't like the Kenda tires that are fitted on these bikes because they are very traction-limited. However, the Ryker's advanced rider aids (e.g. traction control, stability control, ABS) do a fantastic job of keeping the bike pointed in the right direction. The biggest benefit of the reverse-trike platform is that it's stable by design... you never need to balance it or worry about tipping over. If you want to see an extreme example, watch this video to see how it handles in a severe thunderstorm and 70 MPH winds: th-cam.com/video/-QSYaoaBBps/w-d-xo.html . Cheers! 👍 --QM

If your Ryker doesn't have the handguards, then you need that kit as well. You can find both pieces on Can-Am's site here: can-am.brp.com/on-road/us/en/shop/ryker-accessories/ride-protection.html . Your not down on power, your not getting added power to ground. Need to reclutch. For new power curve

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the beginning of the ride, I was definitely down on power due to the failed P1X noise baffle. It was causing excessive back-pressure and a horrible exhaust note (probably detrimental harmonics in the exhaust because the TBR S1R can wasn't specifically tuned for this application). After I removed the blown/melted baffle, the bike perked up considerably. I estimated about 10-15 extra HP on my super-technical butt dyno. Unfortunately, that exhaust note and horrible drone at 70 MPH was just too much to bear, so I removed the S1R exhaust and re-flashed the ECU after I returned from this trip. I'm back to the factory exhaust and the "stock enhanced" fuel map now... the bike is happier and so are my ears. 😉👍 --QM

    Are those floor boards slippery?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! No, these floorboards ( www.lamonstergarage.com/lamonster-black-dymond-can-am-ryker-floorboards/ ) aren't slippery, but I have noticed that it's harder to get leverage while cornering. The original footpegs allow you to angle your feet at 45 degrees and push against the pegs, while the floorboards are flat... no point of leverage.
      So, I adjusted my riding habits to use my knees and thighs against the center tunnel to compensate for the missing foot leverage. However, these floorboards are much better in terms of overall comfort because I can adjust foot/knee position during longer rides. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Riding with my high beams on during the daytime is just a safety habit from decades of riding. I have the OPT7 Fluxbeam-X LED lamps in my Ryker, and I haven't had anyone complain or flash me during the daytime so far. However, I have had a few people flash me at night when I was running low beams. The reflector housings in the Ryker are a bit sloppy, so there is a lot of upward throw (scatter) unlike projector lamps or housings that are specifically designed for LED's as original equipment. Maybe I'm just rude, but I really don't care if my headlights bother cagers during the daytime... at least that means they SEE ME! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

I didn't think too much about it until I heard the rattling and raspy exhaust note during my first refuel in Luling, TX... I knew something wasn't quite right. During that first leg of the trip, I was only traveling ~70 MPH, so that is a very "normal" running condition for the Ryker. If the baffle melted, then that means that the EGT's were in the ~1200°F range (assuming that it's pure aluminum and not an alloy of some flavor). I still have that blown-out P1X baffle sitting here on my editing desk as a fancy paperweight. 🤣👍 --QM
