@@Rusli1659LPSoldier this is my second year working for them. I usually have to set up and do all the maintenance just like Matt does for Luke and then souncheck. So it’s daily that I set it up, the whole 9 piece kit gets set up and torn down daily.
The OG is back! I don't know if you know (which I think you do) but you've inspired so much drum POV content over the past months is insane. Good for you! Hope everybody is giving you the shoutout.
Enjoy hearing you doing voiceovers during set ups, etc. Gives better context to all of your prep work and why you do certain things. Really enjoy the channel, looking forward to what's in store this year.
Man, it's amazing to see what you all do on these big shows. We played a show and the venue actually helped us carry the gear in and i was like oh man, this is the big leagues! haha
love this. when I workef for epic records, I used to go out with the band and sit feet away from the drummer for parts of the show, incubus, Korn, good Charlotte, to name a few. nothing like. it. carpe diem!
8:16 Don't underestimate your audience, I'm sure there's more than 2 of us that got the EFT joke, personally found it hilarious. And honestly feels sort of fitting too!
I know Disturbed has been memed on for forever, but I’ve been diving back into their old stuff for a few months. While the drumming is nothing super complex, it’s super fun to jam to. I remember a friend in hs giving me a Walmart bag full of their discography around the time I started drumming. Indestructible is such an incredible album
Although I'm a Hugh fan of live music and concerts, I'm more intrigued on the setup and tear down. All aspect of what it takes to put on a 2-3 hour show for people. They don't realize this process takes 12-14 hours. Being roadie in the late 80's and early 90's are so different compared to today. We were lucky to just get through the day alive lol. I really miss this. Thank you for posting this. It takes me back.
I missed my calling. You only get one life kids, follow your dreams. Ty MH, for the upload. That soundcheck sounded great. Def gonna check that tour. Evans UV2 coated, is the way to go.
Having seen you play Zombified for every crew jam, and the clips of Luke playing it finally made me go look up the song. Now I'm gonna learn it haha -A Member of the Start to Finish Crew 🤘
I remember passing out the cassette sampler with this song as the b sid3 I believe. We passed out stickers and flyers. We live in a small town so this was big news .....a movement. This town has blown up over the past 25 years and so has this band..Its crazy...My only run in with David was at a Pirate Radio event in Austin,TX.We were playing a gig on the stage about 20 feet away and David was doing an interview .The club was outdoors. He seemed to enjoy our jams because he could help but nod his head to 😅GUNNHILDA.*****
I thought when I clicked on this you were the tech for disturbed and I was like oh cool could be interesting. Then find out you’re actually the FIR tech is even better imo. I’ll subscribe and follow you and the bands journey on here for sure. Keep it up Man. That disturbed sound check was sick to see. What a vibe
This is really fascinating and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. Whenever I go to a concert I like to get seats on the side as much as possible to see some of the work behind the scenes. There's so much to it.
Start-to-Finish crew 🤘🏼 I like that you're talking a bit more in this one, I usually half-watch longer videos while also doing other stuff so having more to listen to is always a good thing.
Man it's so fucken cool that you get to sit behind Mike Wengren's kit. He's been one of my drumming idols for about 20 years now. Ever since hearing Down with the Sickness I've been hooked on his playing. Simple yet effective but he can really shred when he needs to.
Thank you for the vid....Most people don't get to see what it takes to set up drums for a concert..... it's definitely more work than you would think.....So you set up a whole stage for a concert is insane it must take hours.....
Hey Matt ! I I'm really enjoying your channel a lot. Could You make a video showing your E.D.C and your personal equipment that you take on tour? Tools, flashlights and other trinkets that we love to see? Greetings from BRAZIL!
Hope you enjoyed your stay here in Oklahoma, trippin me out the doors you went through to enter the arena is the door I had to use to go in and out when we did HVAC work back in September. Bummed I missed you here in town brother!
Super fucking rad to see one of your POV videos from my hometown! Love it! From one touring guy to another, you this is some Start To Finish Crew here.
Dude, thank you so much for this video. For amateur drummers, it's a dream come true to get behind the scenes of big bands. I'm already looking forward to the next video. And it plays 🤘🤘🤘
I made it through the whole thing. Then again I'm retired IATSE local #193 out of Peoria Illinois, so this all brings back so many memories of a whole bunch of shows!!!
Welcome back. As someone who toured off and on for thirty six years and has been retired from the road for just over five years, these videos given me just enough of the venue vibe to satisfy the urge to go back. Thanks for sharing with us all. Cheers...
I loved this so much. I hope to one day be able to drum tech like this. Gotta figure out how to network my way in lol. Definitely went through this start to finish. I appreciate you sharing.
Matt, I've worked in concert security for about 20 years and seen most of the sets from back stage, but this is a cool video. Thanks for putting it out
First time catching your videos...loved it. I'm an old retired dude now but was a drummer in local bands around St. Louis in the 90's. Looking forward to more of your posts. Great job, all the way around.
Watched it till the end, very cool of u doing this 🥁!! I always watch the drummers, but never really seen what happens behind the scenes .. very cool 🥁!!
Dude I love this channel, I am a drummer that’s still in the stage of setting up everything by myself, I don’t play rock music, but I have learned so many little tricks from watching your POV for the last few months, I’ll pray you get your own view sometime soon, man! Would love to see that experience, too!💪🏾🔥🏃🏾♂️💨
I am a drummer but in much smaller bands so that means i am my own drum tech also 😅 and that's why i know for sure that taking the kit off stage and packing is as much important skill as preps before the show. Start to Finish Crew 😎🤘
Great video dude! I toured in the 90s/00s and had the best drum tech. It's cool to see incredible work y'all do behind the scenes that can be un appreciated or unnoticed. Keep on keepin on !
Thanks man. It is great to see how the big boys do it. Very cool! You have a really cool job. I can see that you have your suffering, but what a cool job. Thanks for sharing it.
I made it to the end. What an incredibly long day. I’m envious that I didn’t take your career path. Can’t wait for the next one. Keep up the great work.
How am I just now finding your channel. Insta- suscribed at 10:40, lol. I'll be glued to it from now on. Everything about your production is top notch, especially for a one- man gig. Thanks for all of the commentary. Ive been backstage too many times to count, but almost exclusively post- show. I dont have the contacts, nor the $$ to do that any more, so this is a real treat, my man. P.S. - see you Wednesday in Austin 🤟
I watch all the videos until the very end, can't miss a second. Makes me wish I could be a drum tech. I missed the boat with being a drummer in a touring rock band, but I still love everything about drums and would love to drum tech for a touring band. I'm living vicariously through you man!! LOL
I’m part of the start to finish crew. I love your videos. I’m a drummer in a band called Neon Fantastic and I love that you show people how much goes into setting up and breaking down a drum kit after every show.
What a Wild way to start 2024 !!! Congrats for your amazing videos Matt and thanks for sharing all that interesting info. About evade the courtains and ceilings to touch your mics and cymbals, I have a big kit with 10 cymbal holders and It happened to me too. Until I decide to use a cool tape that I put around the holders. Rising the holders, Top part of the tape , outside the hole means PLAY, lowering the holders, low part of the tape, hidden in the hole means TRANSPORT. Woks super fine for me. Its 5 minutes more of work, but It helps a lot P.D: The Disturbed drum is SICK !!!! OMG travelling with that beast. Hugs from Barcelona!!!!
Saw You last night in KC! Such an amazing show, got some really great shots of everyone. The Pyro was off the chain. Mad respect. Thanks for putting on such an awesome show.
Love these vids a lot. I normally just run them on repeat for ambience but lemme tell ya. Falling asleep to Disturbed soundcheck and waking up to DMCA-proof bird sounds is a trip.
I find your videos very interesting. I've played drums in bands off and on since 1989, and I've always wondered what it would be like to be a drum tech on a big tour. I see you're on the Disturbed tour, so I hope you make a video when you guys are here in Nashville.
Finally got to see disturbed in Omaha nebraska and was not disappointed at all one of the most epic shows I have seen no frills just some fire and the band incredible thanks for a great concert
Sorry for the wait! Follow me on Instagram for more behind the scenes looks at being a drum tech instagram.com/matthorndrums
How crazy good is Moriah’s voice? Also, Birbs.
@matthorndrums Yes if you made an Aleratec style swivel base stand I would buy it 100% … 12”????
I'll be at tonight's show in Toledo
It's worth the wait Matt. Great content like this can't be rushed. Stupid question I think, but how do you know what to bungee?
Sticks ASMR. 😂😂😂
Thanks for the love dude! Happy to have you guys out on this run with us!
Thanks for sharing that kit with us!
