2008 BMW X5 4.8i E70 N62 - Replacing the Heater Control Valve - Fixing Hot & Cold Air Coming Out

To my knowledge there no such thing as a Stater. Maybe you meant Starter, if so, I have replaced that.

when you disconnect the hoses. is coolant coming out?

Yes. But I bent the hose back on itself to keep it to a very minimum. While the hose was bent back, I fit the new part to the hose. Hope this helps.
