Great video. Sitting back New Years Eve watching the video. In my younger days my friends and I would go out and build a shelter and spend the night.

One time while driving in a remote part of the Harz mountains on my way to my favorite campsite I was caught in a sudden snowstorm with heavy snowfall. My Volkswa gen 411/412 station had no heat so I pulled off the road and in the strong wind pitched my 2 person trail tent up against the leeward side of the car , fired up my 2 mantle lantern and heated up some wine and honey on the lantern.

Great Video! Excuse me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Tiyulian Riyadelyn Takeover (probably on Google)? It is a great one off guide for surviving in a world crisis minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my buddy at last got cool success with it.

One of my favorites among your videos due to the scenario. You go from 'no hope' to create fire and shelter. Good thing that all of you could help out. The camera work HAS gotten much better since then!
So many of these comments are brutal . . . when actually this video is all about the 'learning curve' that comes with camping. The second time these guys go out, they'll do things differently. The third time they'll improve even more. It's called practice / experience and it really matters in the wild. If these guys stick with it they will enjoy it.

Great video I remember all the nights even with a fire we couldn't sleep it was cold that get inside your bones. I'll never forget those nights with good friends talking all night and laughing.

Well..., if you're going to put minimalism to the test, unexpected, inclement weather; is just the ticket! Provided, you have a plan of egress in place. Nobody died, so you get the "W" (win). I would chalk that up as a success. 👍

i like the music as much as the video .... my sons are 9 and 10... your videos are helping add to what i'm teaching them i follow a lot of bushcraft and survival videos... by far, i'm enjoying this channel the most. ... and my kid left me half way through the video.. you must have inspired him because he said, "i'm going back outside mom" hahahaha!
Great to see four guys working together for a common goal. With friends like that , you can't lose. Quite a change from all the (yawn) single person survival struggles. Keep up the good work. It reminded me of Boy Scouts. We went camping , as a troop , at least once a month. I suppose you had a different name for Boy Scouts. Possibly Pioneers as they were called in Germany although Pioneers had a different connotation during the reign of Communism. It was a quick sturdy shelter. Hope you left it standing for the next unfortunate soul that might get caught in your predicament but without the advantages you 4 had. Way to go! While you were constructing your lean-to. I was wondering why you left one side with a gap below the logs but I soon figured out it was a vent for the fire. You guys have obviously done this before.
When the Zombie Apocalypse comes , I expect to see people like you. If you keep your wits about you and are self reliant there's nothing you can't survive. I just hope there will be at least a few women that make it too.

Well, good job, you all survived the sudden snow! And I guess the reflector/wind deflector came in handy for extra firewood during the night as the fire was too close to it. Nice shelter though. Obviously did its job quite well!

I'm curious about something, in every one of these survivalist/camping videos nobody ever has a simple lighter to light the fire. Is there some unwritten law that if you are out in the back country you can't have a lighter? That is something I never forgot when I used to camp. Besides, it takes a lot less energy and is more effective than flint. Just saying.
- I've seen people flick a Bic and use commercial and homemade firestarters. Most won't some do.
Yeah, same what I think. The risk with a BIC is that they get wet and don't work though. Usually when we go for a long hike here in the forests we have minimal 1 small tin can (old Nivea creme can) with a full lighter and some old cut up jeans soaked in candle wax. Starts a quick fire every time.
Carry one in my pocket everyday. Have not smoked in years. Also have other ignition sources. But always nice to flick your bic.
Well, if you're rehearsing TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it), realism adds to the art of survival. Bic lighters have a finite amount of fuel even flint. It's better to know and be proficient, in the ways of making fire, before the dawn of multi conglomerates. Just say'n.
My self as well a new sub to your vids and a nice job on the shelter looks just about like mine .. I'm from The state of Colorado west sides of the Mt's and it's great to see what others are doing I'm about 12 miles deep in the woods my self. Thanks for showing I,'ll try to show a video on my set up but for now Iv Sub to you guys thanks for showing.have fun.
Teepee.. Make a circle the size of a dinner plate out of a root or something.. Tie 5 straight beaches to this.. Lift it up..fill in gaps with smaller branches etc, Insulate with whatever.. Bark, layered like tiles, or moss..
The key is making a hole at the top so smoke can exit also this way can get alot more room inside as outer branches are a little away from each other at the top.. Adding alot extra at the bottom.. Best for cold temperatures..

Here everyone is doing everything. Snow is falling, a storm is expected and they are working like a swarm of headless flies. And barely made a shelter for two people..If the storm lasted longer and melted 50 cm of snow and temperatures dropped to -20 you would find yourself in trouble. Real problems. In a situation like this two cut down a tree one carries one stacks a shelter. As far as I can see, don't even hold the ax in your hands properly .. This time you were lucky ..

Well, these guys are a lot hardier than I am! I mean, I didn’t see any gloves, or gaiters or hoods or scarves on these guys. Terrific shelter, tho!
