@@DSR1YT -- Probably not a bad idea. If there is a noticeable response then a longer review would probably be worth it.
The reason this particular review caught my eye is that I wanted to look at this bike through different eyes. My wife, who is not overly tall nor has she been blessed with what she calls "GS legs" currently owns and rides an R1250R and as the years move on we've been looking at something perhaps a bit lighter and with a lowish seat but fully suited to the travelling we do, ie: cruise control. We've still not found anything suitable (cruisers don't count) so wanted to see how you coped with the 850.
@@couttsy222 Got you, Zoe is looking forward to testing out Hondas new Transalp as a possible future bike, giving her the capabilities of long distance riding with some light off roading. Might be worth a check, unless you guys are die hard BMW fans :)
@@DSR1YT Not diehard at all (my wife worked her way up through a couple of Suzukis before getting on the BMWs). Unfortunately the Transalp would still be way too tall for her. Still, it's always fun looking!
I think the lowered seat on the new transalp takes it down to 830mm 👍 as soon as we get hold of the transalp Zoe will do the review as a short rider!

As stock, it might be a little tall, also it depends on the length of the persons legs. Zoe has quite short legs.

It’s down to the rider and if they want electronic suspension (ESA) or not, each to their own.

What would be a minimum rider height for this bike?
its not always down to rider height as everyones leg length is different, you could be short but have long legs which mean you can touch the floor no dramas. Best advice is to jump on one and see how you fit.
WhAt is the TE version?
The TE version is something you will find in the UK, predominately made for the UK market, its got the extra goodies we like to have on the bike without picking them individually when configurations the bike, ie heated grips, Quickshifter etc.
I hired one of these in NZ for two weeks, brilliant for the job in hand, but Jesus they sound like a bag of nails and vibe like noting I’ve ridden before. Hoping to go back in the next couple of years and I’ll have an XR instead👍🏽
I didn't find the vibes an issue but admittedly I didn't have it for 2 weeks! Matt rode the XR the other day and was a fan for sure. Ride safe on your adventures 🤙
I had a 750GS this week for a day while my 1250GSA was in for service. I made the same "bag of nails" observation. The clutch feel was terrible -- it felt as if the cable was fraying yet the bike only had 125kms on it, ie: brand new. The motor sounded lovely on overrun but sounded more like a big single under power. It felt very nimble in the hills.

So. Why do gs riders have problems with their bums. Don’t seem to sit much. I didn’t realize bmw had bikes for hemorrhoids.
They also make bikes for arthritis, aging demographic :)
