- CASTICO Shower System. Full tutorial on how to install this system. We wanted to create a Curbless, commonly known as zero entry shower for our clients. For that we had to lower the subfloor. Great thing about this castico shower system is that once you lower the subfloor, the pan perfectly matches up with the top of the tile. Once the pan is installed all we had to do is install our walls. Great thing about these walls is that there’s absolutely no grout lines having no grout lines is great for cleaning your shower.

Very impressive system, installation and *video*. 3-4 days for a quality install with curbless is tough to beat.
I just had the same shower installed. Floor and walls all the same. I love it!
very nice. I appreciate the attention to detail on the cuts and install overall. Very well done.
Flawless installation! 👏
One of the best I have seen...
Freakin' artwork! true pros bros! Fantastic job!
This looks like an amazing system that wont break the bank with labour costs. And, a great option for basements too.
Hey hey!!! it's been a while since I caught a vid .... as always tho TY TY for your channel it's been great being subbed and super happy for your continued success with everything and it's a TON of work... Cheers !
Thanks!
Welcome back to TH-cam!!!
Great system but looks like an insert,
Love these videos, but wish they were shot horizontal as I watch TH-cam on a large TV
@@at20rulehaha! Like watching extended TH-cam Shorts… wish he made normal videos like he used to 😂
You sped through the most important parts.
I had this installed last summer. A few things:
1) Definitely not a one man job, the shower pan is especially heavy
2) the fake marble print on mine has started to fade into this purple tone in some spots
3) be very careful what kind of caulk you use - the contractor I hired used the wrong type of caulk and now it's all yellow
4) even though the shower walls are 7 feet high, water will still get on the painted wall above the shower walls
Nice 👍
Cheers
Winni, I am installing this exact shower base but using the laticrete wall boards and tiling above it. Would you put a ton of silicone between the flange that is screwed to the base and the wall? I'm wonder if I can use laticrete sealant instead? Any input on this?
when you cut the shower pan. did you take the flange thickness into account? Does that add much thickness?
Nice system what is the material on the walls made of ?
What material did you use for the template? Thanks
What material is you used for the wall, drywall or, cement fiber board? I meant that the green all.
Always use 100% waterproof backer boards please and seal all the seams with schluter kerdi membrane thks
Can this be done on the 1st floor which has the concrete slab ?
How did you install the caddy’s in the corner?
Where the panels meet in the middle you used grout? I thought it was silicone that goes there
You have some interesting videos but why would you shoot in portrait?
How do I get a link to your TH-cam? I want to send this to my son but I can't figure it out😢
Great job! Are you in NJ? 🤗
Looks good but where is the schluter?
Like all quick shower systems the drain doesn't meet code. It requires a 2 " drain. The tub has an 1 1/2 drain. The walls are not watertight and require a membrane on all the greenboard.
To make good templates use 1/8” luan ripped to 3” strips
Hi Winni, loving your content, i've been following for a few years now and i find you're closer to how i do things than most youtuber so it's kind of self approving to be watching your stuff.
With that said, i think there might be a flaw with the way you waterproofed. You installed a 6 inch band where the pan meets the floor but if the water ever find its way to that band and continue to flow down, then it will find the lowered substrate and root the OSBs. I think in this case you would have to put a kerdi-like membrane under the pan with corners and band all around just like you did. Anyway let me know what you think, i am curious to have your opinion on this, cheers.
For me it was very important to make sure I use all epoxy grout and silicone sealant. Also I think pictching that front tile into the shower was very important. At the time this is the problem with most Curbless showers. Personally I have good confidence in this install, but it’s my first one like this. So we will see! Either way if we did more waterproofing around it would still make it’s way to the bottom of the drain.
If water gets to the green board the problem will start there first.
What adhesive did you use?
What shower door did you use?
Is this considered a wet room now
Can this shower pan be installed directly on top of concrete floor in basement?
Thanks
Yes absolutely
I’m curious to what they’re warranty is. Seams like a budget friendly option. Also trusting that silicone will keep water from migrating underneath the pan is what keeps me skeptical
not to mention that green drywall is not even close to being a waterproof membrane.t barely qualifies as water resistant.
if you watch the Castico installation video you will see several silicone applications that were skipped or not filmed by Winni. The use of drywall by both Winni and Castico as a "waterproof" layer is without any foundation and completely forbidden under TCNA regs. and by most construction codes.
Green Board ?
How much does it cost to install this bathroom? This means your price as a fixer
Are those corner shelves also included with the Castico shower kit?
The shelves are not included. I bought 2 corner shelves and one recessed shelf from a different company called Flexstone. I bought at Lowes.
looks real nice but if they had loads of water pressure it just seems like water could get outside shower, like perhaps not enough pitch maybe?
I dont see how the pan has enough pitch to qualify for TCNA regs for shower floors.
Look nice bat the drain looks better in middle
Price?
Why waterproof joints on drywall? What's the point drywall is far from waterproof
green backerboard?
what about the condensation?
Important to have a vent in a bathroom
@@WINNI.Designs what if vent breaks or they don't like fan?
@@WINNI.Designs good job BTW. Very clean work and good instruction.
I wouldn't even call it backerboard since that's the term they use for cementous fiberboard, I refer to it just as green board/sheetrock and that thing grows mold and mildew almost the same as regular sheetrock. Personally I think without waterproofing membrane on top it might require demolition sooner than later.
How you liking the toughbuilt system?
Like it a lot! It’s my
First tool organization system so I’m pumped
Silicone doesn't stick to plastics use pl marine adhesive
How much water does the pan hold in gallons?
They didn't show redoing the plumbing drain which is usually 1.5" for bathtubs but showers need 2" in order to being able to drain water quicker due to not much room in the pan if it overflows the drain and considering the pan is so flat it's probably 5 gallons at most. If it was done with just reducer of 2" to existing 1.5" pipe I wish no clogs of any kind to those owners.
Have you tried Wedi?
lol yes he has
What door did you use?
Wondering this too
Seems like there was zero sense using membrane on your drywall seems and not on the rest of the drywall ??? Not criticism... confusion. We've used mr marble solid panel systems they don't suggest or require barrier... but no seems other than corners. That joint in the center of your wall feels like a weak spot in this system ?
Waterproof backer board is available ...... why use junk
JM Go Board
The shower was great. What was the shower door company and model. Where would you suggest to purchase it.
Thank you
Not sure why he bothered waterproofing the seams on the wallboard since the wallboard is not waterproof!
$2100 at The Home Depot.
Terrible floor choice ruined the whole look
I bought the same flooring as in the video. You would be surprised as to how nice it looks and also very safe for non-slipping. But the company does offer different flooring choices.
@@pattimyatt4606 Would you mind telling me which floor tile you used?
@@cbs524 I used this one. I really like it, Castico Solid Composite Stone Shower Pan Base with Drain in Graphite Slate.
