I'm Turkish and actually everything that you've said in Kazakh I've understood, because Kazakh is also a Turkic language as Turkish, Azerbaijani Turkish, Uzbek, Uigurian, Siberian, Turkmen, Kyrgyz, Tatarian language etc. is. Soooo by learning Kazakh you also learn automatically a bit (!) Turkish! Just by learning one Turkic language it makes it so much easier to travel in Turkic countries and to be in contact with Turkic people. Wish you good luck by learning the Kazakh language! In my school , there are different foreign teachers. One of them is Mr Martin. When he came to our country he knew French and English languages. After two years, he understands most of word on russian and half of words on Kazakh. Also he easily can explain his idea on russian. And the most interesting is that because of French language , it easier to pronoun Kazakh words.

I totally understand you. I have lived in Georgia for four years, and people don't understand that living in a country, especially as an English speaker does not always produce the best results. After living here for four years, I speak very little Georgian. I can order food, say where I work, and direct the taxi driver--that's it. Also doesn't help if you know any Russian. Russian is a crutch for me :/
Raquel, you’re doing extremely good!!! you know, many foreign people in kz as well as our profs at uni usually prefer to learn russian cause it’s popular, it’s more common in our country and so on. aside from them, even maany native kazakhs don’t know their first language and are not willing to learn. so not only me, but also many kazakh people (especially taxi drivers😂) are so happy to meet the foreigners learning our language. i know that kazakh is not so easy, especially if you can’t practice speaking it everyday, but i really appreciate your effort and will to learn. I advice you to learn russian, because majority of people use it in North Kazakhstan. But knowing kazakh will be your advantage. Great job! I am still working on my english level and I hope I will reach C2 .
