    This is a trick video. Everyone already knows the KLR changes its own oil. Just check the oil and add some new at EVERY fill up. It burns up the old oil as you ride. Just change the filter every so often.
    Seriously, a magnetic drain plug like this one is a great mod.

      Ian Mackenzie Well, keep an eye on it. It’s when you stop checking it that it seems to happen. Mine burned a little. Still a fun bike.

      Bought an 08 yesterday, oil level was good. Checked it today after 250ish miles and it needs more. The myths are true, I didn't believe it but now I do lol

    Basic services are so easy, even for cars. It's bizarre more people don't do this at home.

    Thank you for this video, mainly for the tube that goes into the oil filter. I had it the wrong way and thought to myself " I should look it up".

      @rmatvmc should the oil be checked in the vertical position or when it is on the kick stand cause when vertical it's full past the looking glass. And when on the stand I can't see any oil. I filled it with 2.625 quarts of oil ( 2.5 L )

      @@zacharylong5734 Vertical position, i have the manual and measured out the correct amount. You can't see the oil line because of angle regardless if it has the correct amount.

    Only thing I do differently is prop the bike up to be perpendicular with the floor. Better for checking oil level.

    Great video thanks! How long do you recommend new oil shelf life? And open new oil that’s been sitting in the garage?

    2.1 litres if oil filter is changed. 2.0 litres if just oil change. Video says 2.5 litres I had to drain 400ml out! 2014.5 KLR650

    Does the Tusk drain plug still require an 11mm O ring to seal, or is the crush washer enough? Thanks!

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Tusk Low- Profile Magnetic Drain Bolt only requires the supplied crush washer to seal.

    Those tusk drain bolts are garbage. Cheap aluminum, the head of the bolt cracked off during the second oil change (and yes,I torqued it to spec.). Get the eagle mike version instead, way higher quality.
