I live adjacent to a golf course and have just found my second shattered solar panel thanks to a drone shot, huge shatter marks like a windscreen and colour change due to water ingress, the previous one shattered had to be seen to be believed

Thanks for doing that video. I just installed 48 LG panels and i live on a golf course and starting to get worried about how durable these panels are with impact from an errant shot. Your video is great because at least it demonstrates that the panel can withstand some impact. I would be curious if you have tested it by actually hitting a golf ball at 100 feet or more with the panel at an incline. Also, what brand did you test?

i believe it was Mage Solar, 60 cell Poly, see this video, th-cam.com/video/e1XtgR-ngxg/w-d-xo.html
huge plant at golf course, 2 years not a single issue on these LG units. there is another 19kw on a building to the north that you cant see along the driving range, no issues. Not saying it can't happen, just they are built very well.

I have 16 solar panels and live on a golf course. Tesla said that I must replace 6 golf ball damaged panels as they are producing near zero solar power. This is after 5 years. There are probably an average of 5 golf ball impacts (hundreds of cracks) on each panel, some not too bad, some with impact cracks all across the panel. Throwing a golf ball doesn't do this!

Thx for sharing your experiences. I also live on a golf course which I'm also concerned with potential damage to my To be installed tesla solar panels. I made sure my design and placement of panels will face away from the fairway. By facing away from fairway and on a typical slope roof, I'm hoping the impact of golf ball will glance off rather than cracking panels. How's your placements of panels, are they placed in a way with steep angle of impact? Love to chat with your on this annoying issue. Thx

Throwing a golf ball and having a golf ball drop 50' out of the air are two different things. The panels will break from the impact of a golf ball

Terminal velocity of a golf ball at 2.1cm radius and at 46 grams would be 32 meters per second or 72mph, i'm no ball player but i believe i'm at least good for that for throwing the ball at that speed. Plenty of videos of ice ball cannons shooting golf ball sized at panels to test them to get the class 1 hail rating, besides it was just for fun, relax....lol.
