@ I was in that "black ghetto culture" -- In fact I was brought up in East L.A. (majority Mexican-American barrio culture) and some blacks. I'm black and yet I went on to USC, UCLA and Cal State. There are a lot of blacks that don't glorify the "stereotyped culture" of which white American zeroes in on. There are a lot of things within these two communities that you (as a white person obviously) will never know about. While you are zeroing in on the stereotypes, the majority black community is moving on (little by little) --
@DmY808 let's talk about Chinese culture. You want to talk about how everyone looks down on blacks as thieves. What about foreign Chinese students as cheaters within American universities. I've read numerous articles detailing that there are little Chinese companies set up to help them cheat; such as writing term papers for them even though the students do not have a good grasp of the English language. Now we know how you became the "second wealthiest nation" (to quote you). China has large areas of poverty, plus there are numerous Chinese nationals who enter the county illegally every year. So much for being the second wealthiest nation.

My compliments to this sheriff...he has it correct, the solutions need to come from the community where the kids live....there is no blame to be assigned to the involved officers, period.
You are right and this sheriff gets many things right too. I can think of no other sheriff that tries to keep his house in order like him, if a deputy doesn't follow protocol, engages in misconduct or commits a crime this sheriff has and will hold those deputies accountable and doesn't make excuses for them or try to justify their actions he reprimands, dismisses and has even arrested deputies. Let's take away the stealing of the car. Let's take away these girls criminal histories. Let's look at it from the standpoint that this was a first time joyride of these three girls. Let's make them good students in school. Let's make them college bound. Let's make the time 4PM instead of 4AM. Let's make their mothers career moms with good jobs. Botrtom line. All they had to do was pull over. Florida has something called retention ponds -especially up in the Orlando and Centro Florida areas. Tourists lose their lives every year by driving into these retention ponds. They can be anywhere from 15 feet deep on up to 40 or more feet deep. HOF basketball player Dr. J lost his son some years back who was on an errand at the time and accidentally drove into one these retention ponds. All they had to do was pull over. We love to blame the police. And that is fine when they are good for it. This time they are not. Everyone wants to say how the police should have gone into the water to save the girls. They were not equipped to go into the water and save those girls lives. They would have drowned most likely too. These girls did not have to dies. They chose to spearhead a car chase at 4AM when they should have been at home. I am looking at footage of the mothers shitty asses blaming the cops. Where were the mothers at 4AM? Bottom line: Shitty ass parenting. These girls had criminal records. After the first car was stolen their behinds should have been red and swollen. The parents should be sued and thrown in jail. That shit was not cute. My mother would have tried to kill me for some shit like that. These young girls thought this was a game. They had to think it was a game to play it as often as they did. This time -unfortunately for them- the game won this time.
Funny, the blm crowd thinks it's the cops fault these kids died. Hey! if your children are so precious to you, teach them about being responsible young adults and quit blaming everyone but yourselves for there actions. If your little darlings choose a life of crime then they may pay with there lives. Better them than a police officer or an innocent bystander or motorist.
+Wandering Druid Reminds me of something that happened here in Sweden a few years ago. Where the police; during a chase, ordered a bridge to be raised. Resulting in the 3 young suspects dying due to not stopping. Was a huge debacle about that. But in my book they have nobody to blame but themselves.
I see these comments and I'm aghast that everyone is talking about skin color and such. Let's get our heads together and see this tragedy for what it really is..... A waste of a damn good automobile. #Hondalivesmatter.
Carol Paige "... but to make like of a 15, 16 etc... year old....whos parents have obviously failed them cost them their lives... is not equivalent to a car.." You're right, the are not equivalent, the car was of some value to society, the girls were not.
No sympathy here no matter the race, parents need to discipline their children better, the blame game excuse is old...blaming the police is embarrassing, they died how they lived!!!
Is it just me guys, or was I like a big nerd or something when I was a kid? When I was a teen, my friends and I NEVER carjacked anyone, fled from the cops, had mugshots/arrest records, fled down the highway at 100 MPH putting others in danger, and most of all, we were NEVER running around at 2 a.m. at 14, 15 years old and parents had no clue where we were.
Nope, you were a normal American who abided by the laws. These animals are simply the result of animals who were taught to disrespect police and act like a victims their whole life.
I was hardly a saint when I was a young man. But I never EVER even thought about stealing someone else's property. Ever! If I had even remotely participated in any such behavior, my parents, my family would never let me live it down. My mom & dad would still be chastising me...from the grave!
This tragedy could have been avoided if they had been Girl Scouts and learned how to swim at the local YMCA. If you live in a state surrounded by water and is 6 inches above sea level, it's a good idea to know how to swim, or at least float. Hell, dead bodies know how to float. You can float by grasping your shirt close to your neck, and blowing air into the front of it, I learned that in Boy Scouts. I also learned to not steal cars, and help old ladies cross the street, if they wanted to or not. Some you had to drag kicking and screaming, but no good deed goes undone.
It wasn't because they couldn't swim. They died in the vehicle with the doors closed. The pressure of the mud made a tight seal on the doors and windows. There was nothing anyone could have done unless the whole car was pulled out.
+beautifuldancer4GOD He said the vehicle drifted 20 yards (60 feet) into the pond and was fully submerged within 5 minutes. I believe they would have had time to get out via the windows during that 5 minute window. Maybe the windows didn't work because the electrical system was disabled as a result of the water, and maybe they were not able to kick out the windows. I don't know.
+Colonel Angus yes the electrical system may have shut down but you have to remember these were kids. They hadn't even got a diploma yet so they sure didn't know what to do in a time like this. They would have had to open the windows and doors before the car starting sinking. They were scared and nervous so I'm sure they panicked. They just didn't have the knowledge on what to do.
This is all a result in PPP, PISS POOR PARENTING. One 16 year old, two 15 year old's, it's 4 AM, any night of the week, where are the parents? Why are your kids not in bed? The problem is parenting, we need to hold parent's responsible for raising kids that have no respect for anything.
+Walter Jasniewski Where is mom and Dad. More than likely Dad is not in the picture and mom don't give a shit. Worked with young troubled adults for a years. That's usually the case no parent involved.
The Sheriff reported that one of the girls father is in prison. I got arrested once in my life (DUI) 22 years ago. That's the last time I will ever make a stupid mistake like that.
It sounds like Pinellas County has a huge problem with lack of parenting. Kids stealing cars and out at 4 a.m. . That's not okay. With better parents they would still be alive today
As I heard the sister of another young black man who was shoot by the home owner of the house he was burglarized said And I quote "How else he s'pose to make money"
+VistaXD they had a history of MANY MISTAKES that they lived to tell about! BUT it comes down to this ONE that caused their deaths...I really don't care about their HISTORY ..its SAD to me that 3 young girls decided to make a choice that they can never come back from
+laneesha1000 One mistake? They have have 7 grand larcenies among them. Not only did they steal the car but they fled the police putting people's lives at risk.
+RubberWilbur once AGAIN!!! I don't care what charges they HAD!!! I SEE 3 misguided teenage girls! With NO PROPER parenting!!!! That LOST THEIR LIVES....indeed their OWN choices caused their OWN DEATH!!! IAM MY OWN PERSON AND I CAN SYMPATHIZE with their situation!!!!!! ESPECIALLY when I see it happening EVERYDAY!!!!
When is legislation going to be introduced to hold these parents responsible for their children's crimes. We need to start locking up parents for dumping their children unto society.
I just watched a near *identical* incident her on YT only it was three black *males* killed in the accident with two stolen cars. The speeds were up to 140 mph, lights turned off, crashed & burned, two killed in the fire, one ejected and died and one was in the rear passenger side in the back. This 14 year was ejected through the windshield and had minor injuries, Same sheriff & county using the placard method. They all were arrested a total of 126 times and it was juvenile court. *He is a GREAT sheriff* .
If you choose to live a life of crime, eventually, it’ll catch up to you either in death or arrest. Poor parenting results in criminals. Need to tell the truth, there’s a big problem nationwide with this oppressed group! 🤷🏼♂️
Those deputies went above and beyond trying to get to the car...If you know what ponds in FLA are like, wading through one in the dark is not something you want to do, hell chances are there are Alligators, water moccasins, or any other number of nasty things in there...

These situations are just hopeless.
where were there parents at when they did this crime and died in the lake the police has done everything they can to stop this stuff ..... the parents need to take it has a example they should of took care of there kids and knew where they were in the first place .
A loss of a child is devastating, these girls were abandoned before they died.Their parents, (or better yet) the adults in the homes led these girls to their deaths through their indifference and lack of direction.
It is WAY past time to start holding these young'ns responsible for their actions. There has to be a fear of what the punishment WILL be the first time let alone the 8th,10th, or 12th times. There needs to be punishment for the parents of minors.
Nope but in this case this was because of the kids ignorance. I don't mean ignorance in a bad way I mean they were young and didn't have a clue. It was night and pitch dark and they drove that car in the pond. Very sad but that's just the truth

@ Exactly agreed 100%. The crimes committed by these offenders is overwhelming and it has to be stopped. It all goes back to how they are raised. They are raised by animals and animalistic behavior is passed down generation after generation.

I'm betting that as they each struggled to breath swamp water they regretted every bad decision they ever made.
You would need some sort of conscience for that to happen. I’m sure there was absolutely nothing running thru their underdeveloped minds.
Doubt they were regretting anything as they slowly drowned. They were probably blaming everyone else on Earth.
I doubt it. Most likely they were crying "police brutality" while accusing police of chasing them into the pond. Had to be a set up by police. They planned to murder those sweet, humble pillars of society. I'm weeping.

Let's take away the stealing of the car. Let's take away these girls
criminal histories. Let's look at it from the standpoint that this was a
first time joyride of these three girls. Let's make them good students
in school. Let's make them college bound. Let's make the time 4PM
instead of 4AM. Let's make their mothers career moms with good jobs.
Botrtom line. All they had to do was pull over. Florida has something
called retention ponds -especially up in the Orlando and Centro Florida
areas. Tourists lose their lives every year by driving into these
retention ponds. They can be anywhere from 15 feet deep on up to 40 or
more feet deep. HOF basketball player Dr. J lost his son some years
back who was on an errand at the time and accidentally drove into one these
retention ponds. All they had to do was pull over. We love to blame
the police. And that is fine when they are good for it. This time they are not.
Everyone wants to say how the police should have gone into the water to save the girls.
They were not equipped to go into the water and save those girls lives. They would have
drowned most likely too. These girls did not have to dies. They chose to spearhead a car
chase at 4AM when they should have been at home.
+Wandering Druid Next time teach your thugettes how to fuckin' swim. Or better yet, teach them NOT to steal cars

Well said Sheriff. On point, clear, and honest. No holding back, pointing out the parents and courts. BRAVO SIR!!
They just didn't have the knowledge on what to do.
what tragedy?

This is all a result in PPP, PISS POOR PARENTING. One 16 year old, two 15 year old's, it's 4 AM, any night of the week, where are the parents? Why are your kids not in bed? The problem is parenting, we need to hold parent's responsible for raising kids that have no respect for anything.
