    I love your water testing. Too funny! The lap bar can do the same zero turn as E-steer but with more effort. As you come to the end of a path, slightly back up and they you can execute the turn without twisting the gras. The E-steer makes it much easier.

      Have you ever tried and echo or stihl trimmer for comparison? I worked at golf courses as a kid using red max equipment. Then moved to toro gas as an adult and now use echo. The ego feels like a toy in comparison. I tried one. I would like to get away from the noise and mixed gas. But they’re not even remotely as efficient.

  • @jburke1968

    I purchased the e steer on 10/16/2023 and have used it for a few times. Here is what I have discovered. I do live in southeast Kansas and since we have had little rain so the ground is very hard. The battery(4-12.0 AH) life seems to decrease faster the more bumps in the yard. I have yet to get 2 hours of mowing out of it and a little over a half acre on each charge. I have charged it overnight to make sure it is a full charge. The height is set on 2 1/2 inches, the blade speed on 2 and control mode on the speed of the mower. The grass is thin so I have also used the blade speed on 1 and it works fine. The second thing is the front end is very light and going up just a slight grade with bumps makes the front end move up and down. So make sure the 4 batteries are in the forward position. Also I noticed on TH-cam the bagger attachment has weights for the front. I would recommend the extra weights even without the bagger attachment. Before this mower I had a Grasshopper front deck mower for years, so the comparison is completely different. I do like the quiet mower and if the battery life would be longer it would receive a better review.

    As a Z6 owner I don't think the lap bar steering needed to be changed. The lap bar steering controls are great as is. What I DO hope EGO is working on is some means of connecting the front wheels to the steering circuit. That would allow for increased stability when mowing on slopes. If they could put DC motors inside the front caster wheel hubs and keep the casters from freely rotating, that would be a game changer.

      Paying for the batteries LOL. Another one of those cases where buying a battery powered piece of equipment doesn't make sense unless you are already invested in the battery platform. I assume you probably need something in the 36" mower deck range...this is something I've found in town with all these tiny lot subdivisions, hardly any back yard access, so a regular 21" push mower is all you can get into them in most cases unless you happen to have a 30 or 36 inch walk behind. This is where a lot of these companies are behind in, those mid-sized mower deck units. Surprised Ego hasn't come out with something like those old Snapper rear engine riders from the 80's...a 28-30 inch mower deck on a battery platform would be awesome for a lot of customers.

      Agreed. Went with EGO four years ago(trimmer, blower, edger, hedge) for a 7k Sq ft lawn. After two years, I've had to replace all batteries because they don't last. Now the replacements are on their last legs(2 new, 2 under warranty). They overheat easily after only a few minutes of use. Had to go back to gas. Also, EGO is made by Chervon(China).

    All properties are different. This property is high cut St Augustine "pasture grass" with plenty of rain. The cameras make all these you tube properties look huge.
    --My property is 3/4 acre corner lot with 1/2 acre bermuda grass in a hot transition zone with 10%, 15% and a little 20% ditches because we have no curb and gutter.
    --I have a 54 in 25 hp steering wheel zero turn for the ditches. This machine will turn 180 degrees on a dime without tearing up the grass if it is dry with the inside wheel running slowly backwards. This machine cost way less than $3,000 with a bagger. It does not need front weights with this bagger. The stores have pulled selling my type of zero turn because of patent issues. The EGO would probably need front weights with the bagger because of the weight of the batteries. Alan did an excellent review and I don't care how he got it.
    --The EGO needs to be able to cut to 1 in for bermuda when starting out in the spring and then switching to 1 1/2 in. No, I am not going to watch any more you tube guys who are cutting every day with reel mowers below 1 in cut. Impractical for me.
    --Now send me the new gps robotic mower. Make it so it can go through a back yard fence to the front yard through a doggy door, etc and I am excited.

    • @RoadieWingZZ
      @RoadieWingZZ ปีที่แล้ว

      CC makes a zero turn with a steering wheel too. Difference is the CC actually turns the direction of the front wheels in sync with the rear trans axles instead of letting them flop like a traditional zero turn. It eliminates turf tear and makes driving across inclines of up to 20 degrees with no side slip or drift.

    • @st942433

      I have a Troy Bilt Pivot which is built by the same company as Cub Cadet. The steering wheel is convenient but if you turn on a dime no matter what you get a little scarring. I always do a 3 point turn. Love the steering wheel though.

    Good review, Allyn. When you turned the Ego around when you were mowing your lawn it seemed that the inside back drive wheel would scar the lawn just like the zero turn mower did in your demonstration in this video. Therefore, it seems that you would need to do a 3-point turn with the Ego to not scar the lawn, correct?

    • @jasonfournier
      @jasonfournier ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same question. On a zero turn you can just reverse the two wheels and do a turn without scarring. It looked like it was locking the inside wheel or maybe it was just too hard to see.
