Thank you, great story and absolutely gorgeous photos. I was there in August 2014 and yes made the same mistakes. Still your video rekindled many happy memories. Enjoy the trip with your family.
I’m a planner by nature, but I don’t over plan my vacations. I typically decide where I’m going, make arrangements for sleeping, and identify a few things I want to do, but never a specific day or time unless an activity is time sensitive.
Hi Tim, I'm originally from the north of Ireland, now living in north Wales, both are beautiful places. If you get a chance visit them too. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
I made a rather quick trip to Wales when I lived in the Uk. It was beautiful. I would love to go back! And Ireland is definitely a bucket list location for photography!
When I was crossing from sandbank to gourock ........ I saw a dolphin he jumped clean out of the water really close to the ferry window absolutely beautiful..... couldn't believe it!......never seen one in the wild.....I texted about ten people it was so exciting! 🙂 made my day It was during covid and I like to think he or she did it to cheer me up 🙂......
I was in Fort William last Wednesday. The scenery on the way from Oban (down the coast and fabulous) was lovely. I hadn’t been to Fort William for about 30 years and remembered its High Street as being pretty dire as there wasn’t much there. It hadn’t changed. I was there around noon but neighbours had warned me that all the places to eat are closed by 7pm. 30 years ago I went across the Viaduct on a steam train. I recall that at that time only some of the trains which went to Mallaig were steam…the rest were normal. You might want to check this out for when you go as there would be a big difference if you were lined up for a view and shot of the fabulous old steam train and you got the modern one going through. The steam train was in the train station next to the bus station when I was going back to Oban. It brought back wonderful memories. Staying in Fort William is very expensive. It’s because it’s a good central point to go other places. The town itself certainly isn’t pretty. If you’re travelling by car (or hiring a bus for the big numbers) then personally I’d find a pretty place to stay outside the town with views over the water. For my short holiday last week, I stayed in Oban. It’s 1.5 hours away from Fort William and on good roads. Fabulous scenery all the way and back (including a very quick glimpse of Castle Stalker which was Castle Arghhhhhh! In the Monty Python film) ..Scotland is beautiful….but some places have better views! Hope this helps….and I’m wondering if you got to the Records Office in Edinburgh.
Oh my word! Now I’ve got to get there! My maternal side is from Scotland, and my granny would make legendary scones (pronounced with a short o sound, not long as we do here in TX). Thanks for sharing your trip.
I don't care what you say, your pictures are exquisite, and show that your hobby is a definite talent! Makes me want to print out and frame. But I have no room (downsizing, remember?)
Hi Tim, thank you for this beautiful tour. I definitely enjoyed watching it. I was ear to ear smiling as you were taking us to this beautiful places. I love all the pictures. I love these kind of pictures, also may I suggest that whenever you come across cottages and barns either here or anywhere you go, please take up close and not so distant pictures. There are a lot of people th as t love them especially me.
Thank you for taking us with you on your trip. The boat images were nicely done. The church and the surroundings were beautiful. The train on the viaduct was very cool. Can’t wait to see the view from the other side. I’d say it was a pretty successful photo day.
Even the views without the iconic view were well worth watching. You did a great job showing Scotland, so far. The photography was fabulous, too. Thank you.
Amazing! I loved the pictures of the Boat, the beautiful Church, and the train sounded like it was saying, "I think I can, I think I can!" Thank you Tim.
Thank you, thank you for sharing this with us. I just watched it a second time and it was worth it. Congrats on making it to Anselmo’s. What kind of fish is it? The church shots were breathtaking. I appreciate your subtle & unapologetic references to your faith too.
You got to touch many lives in such a beautiful place. An inspiration and reminder to love our neighbors as God calls. 🙏🏻 Thanks for sharing. ❤ I really enjoyed this.
Thank you! I have always wanted to visit Scotland and it was great to see it with you narrating. I always enjoy your videos, and this is my new favorite!
I went to the British Isles in 2019, spent a couple of days in Scotland, saw Gretna Green, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Dunoon looks beautiful. I absolutely loved fish and chips, even the mushy peas. Would love to go back someday. Thanks for taking us along.
I am married to a 3 rd generation Marine, so I want to thank you for your service to the troops. I am an overseas missionary for the last 40 years, so I also thank you for your Christian ministry and willingness to go overseas😊
I enjoyed this video so much, it’s surprising what we find out about a place until you are actually there living it. Great idea to go ahead and figure it out. I loved the teal and orange rustic colours on that shipwreck just stunning , and the Church !!!! Wow!! So glad the fish and chips haven’t changed… and was not expecting that last amazing finishing touch at the end … it was well worth the rain and the hike … Thankyou so much for sharing… can’t wait for the next video .😊
I'm not a DIYer per se, but when I like something that needs, TLC, I'm all hands on deck, by that I mean I love, love, love the pics you took of the boat. Made me want to DIY it and bring it back to life. Lol
This was great. It was fun. I love to hear all about it. I’d love a piece of that fish!!! Ha ha. The train was just awesome. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks for this.
Beautiful photographs! I especially like the bright green grass next to the old church. For me the shipwreck would look best in a stark contrast of black and white. This brings out the composition, as well as my imagination. That was an interesting journey of just a few days. The time change alone is a challenge. Eagerly awaiting part two!
What a beautiful church and country! Definitely a place to visit. Thank you for sharing your trip Tim! Looking forward to March. PS; I had tears coming up when you said, "That's was worth it." at the end.
What a beautiful place. I absolutely love the photos of the boat. I am an amateur artist and wonder if it’s ok if I attempt a drawing of it. I don’t sell anything - it’s just a hobby.
As I’ve mentioned before, I live in the county of Bedfordshire in England, and I am so happy you enjoyed your trip to Scotland, being this the first video of 3. I loved the photos of the boat and church and you can see your professional side of taking them. See you in episode 2.
That was cool, Tim! Loved the photo of the Church and good on you for scouting things so you'll be ready to see the train from the best angle with your whole family.
Friends of ours were at the train 2 years ago. He got an awesome photo. You can even see the conductor waving. My husband loved the photo and was one day surprised when receiving a puzzle in the mail. It's 19x25. We have it framed and hanging. They'd been there once before so were familiar with where to go. Thanks for sharing your trip!
I really enjoy your narration of the sights, sounds, and tastes! I pulled up Google earth to locate where you were. It's so remote and beautiful there. Great photography. I really liked the shots of the rusty old ship with the coloured top and of the old church. Thanks for sharing.
That's cool... I bet the military really appreciated you guys! Do you like Haggis? Did you say what kind of fish? Love the ship pictures...very good! The church pics are really outstanding. Perfect light!
Having some Scotch/Irish "in" me, This was a Really Interesting Video. You are a Very Good Tour "Guide." Nice Seeing a Lil' Bit of the Downtown Area, as well as the House that Y'all Lived In, the Boat of Caol was Really Cool. (Your Photography is Amazing.) All of the Scenery was just So Beautiful, and then Ending the Video with the Steam Locomotive was Great.👍🏻Good S👀ing You Enj😋y those "Fish & Chip's."
Wow cannot believe you were in Dunoon, what are the chances, have been following you since day 1 - and I am from Dunoon but now stay in Glasgow, but do remember the busier town it used to be when you stayed there.
Hello from Arkansas! I just subscribed to your channel. I’m a new channel too. I would like to see a 60 second short of the train to see how many views you get. Don’t forget to link the video. 😊-Diane
You should see more of that in the next video from Skye. I was really bummed that what I videoed while there didn’t really work well for this video. Thanks for watching!

Glad I'm not the only one that fumbles my camera settings! 🤣
LOL. It’s a gift. :)
@@TheNewRetiredMe I'm not using my camera enough lately, so I'm having to re-train myself every time I pick it up. So. Many. Menus. 🤦♀️
I thought the boat pics looked great. And that church was beautiful. loved the background. I wonder why I'm so hungry for fish...and chips...sigh.

Yes, that train was worth it. And the ad at the end of your video was about Hogwarts Harry Potter pajamas how fitting.
LOL. That’s awesome.

as you can see i am looking backwards ha ha no problem.
View in any order you wish. 😂
American military presence make a place …when they leave so does many things 😢
I love what you have to say but could we have more of the scenery and less of a “talking head” approach. Voice overs?
You should see more of that in the next video from Skye. I was really bummed that what I videoed while there didn’t really work well for this video. Thanks for watching!
