  • I've been stuck for a long time now. My weight loss has stalled, and I'm not happy with where I am. Time to make a few changes and get back to Carnivore Basics.
Keep in mind, I am not a physician or nutritionist. Before embarking on the Carnivore Diet (or any other diet) you should consult a physician to see what is best for your individual needs.
Find me everywhere I am on the Internet here: timchilders.bi....
I started this channel in order to document life as it gets lived. It's about where I live, how I live, where I travel, why I travel, and so much more. Eclectic is a good word for the content to be found here. I hope you will come along for the ride!

Here is food for thought: Watch some movies from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s. You will rarely see any people in the movie with a weight problem. Focus on the portion sizes they consume when you see, for instance, a scene taking place in a diner. Small (6 oz.) cups of coffee, usually black, small pieces of bread with a little meat in between the slices, or if it’s a dinner, one slice of meatloaf, a small scoop of mashed potatoes, and a little serving of green beans. If they have dessert, they might get a small slice of apple pie. If anyone ordered eggs, the eggs were what today would be considered small to medium, not the extra large we take for granted. People ate 3 meals a day, but they were all small servings. Back then people walked to stores, walked on their lunch hours, kids played outside all afternoon even in cold weather, moms were forever moving around cleaning house. The answer to being trim is: eat small portions of protein, carbs and fat at each meal, and move around a lot. It has taken me 71 years to finally realize this. Hope this helps.

I am a sugar eater. I stopped added sugar 3 months ago, and have lost 15 pounds without effort. My energy is through the roof, and my Winnie the Pooh stomach has flattened. I do think a fatty liver was my issue, storing all kinds of sugar and causing bloat. Good going Tim!

You can do it! 60 yr male here. I'm a happy weight now and I've kept to it (77 kg; 1.83 m; BMI 23.0) but four years ago I was 105 kg (BMI 31.4) and honestly, while some people can feel healthy like that, I didn't feel good carrying the weight around. The key thing for me has been consistency. That made more difference than anything else. For me a carnivore diet doesn't make much sense but I guess we're all different. Eat a variety, mostly plants, and always good quality. 3 meals a day and, for me, *never* snack -- lol one snack session could ruin a day, so never snack. Whatever you do, enjoy the process! 🙂👍👍

At 76, female, my husband's retirement and expecting a large dinner every night that i prepare...weight became an issue. Caring for him and my 96 year old mother, i have simply neglected myself! South Beach diet is one I go back to, similar to Mediteranian diet, avoiding bad carbs. However, with age i discovered at my last weight loss attempt, I did best when I also counted calories. Im simply unmotivated to do that at this time. But I'm determined to be more active, lose weight. We need to care for ourselves, period. I wish you health! Success!

i lost weight by eating salads (sometimes i add cashws, other times i had shrimp, or chicken or i cut up some sandwich meat) and walking. I started walking one mile and then upped to to two and then three. the weight magically started dropping off. sometimes i skip a day of eating as well. you can make salads really tasty if you are imaginative. add spicey meatballs if you like spicey, add peanuts, cashews, cheese, bacon bits, use a delicious salad dressing (i even use ranch and thousand island). i refuse to use dietary or healthy salad dressings. great video! change the salad type to. use iceberg, then use kale, then used spinach leaves.....throw in a couple boiled eggs, some sargines, make it delicious!! GREAT VIDEO. i love walking. and i don't walk fast. i enjoy my walk. i look at the clouds and the trees and if i have to think, i only recall fun memories of the past. it makes me feel so fun!

Getting into thermogenesis /Ketosis is the plateau breaker. And also, you're spot on again as usual, regarding the insulin. Intermittent Fasting is another key. I do the 2 meals a day, one is small and the other is a bit larger. It works.

Good luck to you on your quest. I am a 75 yo 6'5" male and I went from 420 pounds 6 years ago to 290 today. My goal is 250. Problem is I too am stuck and I have more loose skin than I care to admit to that would be impossible to lose wo/ surgery (no thank you to that). I lost the majority of my weight by intermittent fasting (18:6). I eat reasonably sized portions, count the calories (1500-1800 a day) and I include veg and fruits daily. Carrying around excess weight most of my life has played havoc on my body, mostly in my knees. So after talking to my orthopedist and cardiologist, I am doing the treadmill at Planet Fitness 4-5 times a week for 25-30 minutes. That alone gets me 5k steps and with the general life walking about for the week I average 6.5k per day. With my knees that is an accomplishment. Anyways, I too have been stuck in a 2-3 pound up and down range so I feel your pain on that. So maybe my trips to Planet Fitness might help.

I'm 66 and I do my own intermittent fasting. I wake up around 6:30/7:00 and have a cup of hot water. Then around 8:00/8:30 I have breakfast, either eggs or oatmeal with fruit and nuts. Lunch around 12:30 and dinner with my husband around 4:30/5:00. Then nothing after dinner and we are usually in bed around 8:30/9:00. This works for me. I'm not trying to lose weight but I maintain my weight which is healthy for my age and height.

Kudos to you for taking your health in charge! You can absolutely do this! I am rooting for you! I wonder if you have ever seen dr. Annette Boz, dr. Boz, here on youtube. She talks about keto and fasting, but also a lot more, there is a lot about mindset, which I am convinced is the game changer (isn't it in all things?) she gives a lot of lessons around insulin, and health in general, blood tests, and it's worth looking into. I am still figuring things out for myself, and I believe we each need to find what fits our life and our body, I look into a lot of different approaches. So while my big challenge is clutter, that is my battle, I am also working on my health and my eating habits. take care. 🌷

  • @steve-wright-uk

Try weighing youself every morning. If you weight goes up, or you are outside of your happy range then you need to be good for 24 hours and cut out the snacking. Once you are back in the range you have a licence to be naughty (within reason). As you've noticed, there is a correlation between boredom and snacking, so keeping busy helps. Have a pact with yourself to reach for a glass of water before reaching for the snacks. Atomic Habits by James Clear recommends that to break bad habits, make them harder to do. So put the snacks on the top shelf of the kitchen where you need to get the step ladder to reach them.

Good luck with your weight loss! It's funny, I started your video and I knew exactly what you were doing...I even have the same electric frother. I make "Bulletproof Coffee". I have been on carnivore for about 2 months, and I have stalled. Pretty much from the exact things you mentioned. Too much dairy (heavy cream in my coffee and I love cheese) and snacking. So, I'm taking the same route you are...the BBB&E. I'm 70, retired 3 years ago (forced due to Covid's effect on my industry), and then I got into some bad habits with my bourbon...I came to my senses, gave up alcohol and started hiking. I hiked 2,000 miles with a 20 lb backpack. Before carnivore, I had gone from 210 down to 180. Then my weight started to creep up, so I started Carnivore at 188. I'm down to 178, losing 8 lbs the first 2 weeks, but now I've stalled. My goal is 150. I really like your channel, as there have been other things that have resonated with me...simplifying, decluttering, finding what's essential, etc. I'll be curious to see more on how your carnivore journey goes. All the best, and thanks for your channel and videos!

I used to run but I grew tired (and sore!) after many years. I now walk 5-6 days a week. To help me walk I listen to podcasts and audiobooks on my phone. I use the Libby app which enables me to borrow audiobooks via my county library. listening enables me to log miles without realizing the distance while listening. I hope you can find a way to increase your step count and, incorporate weight training as well. All the best!

My Naturopath told me to stop all dairy including butter (which seemed insurmountable at first but I got used to it pretty quickly) and to reduce the fat I eat dramatically (so no beef, bacon or egg yolks). Weight started dropping fast and I'm 63. Eating low fat keto will not harm you for a few months and it will get the weight moving. IF is also very helpful. I put nut milk in my one coffee per day which is obviously not carnivore but it makes it doable for me. Good luck!

There is a high correlation between high red meat consumption and increased risk of prostate cancer. Not causation, but a very high correlation. Also a high meat intake effects butyrate production in the lower intestines, this also increases the risk of colon cancer. The carnivore diet is an elimination diet at best. If you want to lose weight, reduce your fat intake, eliminate seed and vegetable oils from your cooking, get an air fryer! Increase oily fish intake for your protein intake, lots of green vegetables. Walk for at least an hour a day, about 4-5 miles, 8000-10,000 steps.

I’m 55 and vegetarian. The menopause weight (20 extra lbs)+ bloating is downright miserable. I’m working toward being dairy-free but my biggest challenge is CHEESE- it’s my absolute fave food🤷🏼‍♀️ absolutely will NOT give up coffee… I don’t do well in society without it lol
I work in the public education system. Thank you for sharing your plan and your wisdom!

Carnivore too, 60 yr old woman. I find when I hit a stall I fast: some days 42 hrs and once a quarter 72hr. IF everyday, 18:6. Go to the movies and bring Pork rinds and or Beef Jerky. All the best.

Oh boy, can I ever identify. I’m 74. I have been losing eating lots of protein, but not to the point of carnivore, and 2 meals a day. What really makes that work for me is fasting. I do alternate day fasting. I do have my coffee in the morning, but on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays I don’t eat at all. Jason Fung has written good books on fasting.

I can sure relate to some of the issues you're dealing with, especially hitting the damned plateau. I was losing weight since this spring at a slow but steady clip until a month ago. I had been limiting my eating window and reducing how much I was eating, increasing the amount of veggies and fruit, avoiding sweets and starches and keeping portions modest. Humming along, feeling hopeful, I just stopped losing rather suddenly, full on brakes. This is a frustrating conundrum as truly, I've not been doing or eating anything differently this month. So, why does it not work now when I'm within 20 pounds of my goal? I don't like to diet, with all its counting and restrictions, but I whatever. I guess I have to face doing without some things and keeping close track. Sigh.

Diet Pepsi is my drug of choice. Good luck on your food plan. I put on weight when (about 20 pounds) when I retired, mostly because of the change in activity level and boredom. I managed to take it off, but it took me five years of trial and error to find the solution.

I enjoy your no nonsense approach in your videos. I relate to other videos you have made and hope to grab more insights from you! Never too old to learn a new trick.
I am 62. I am figuring to "retire" from the oil patch...still work, however work a less physical job. I've noticed , while there has been a slow down period at work, that I too have slowed my pace around the house. With that being said, I have noticed a little more "profile" in the mirror.
I have been pondering the retirement phase in my life. I have been denying that I am this age and yet I been having more and more colleagues in the patch tell me their "escape plan". They only work part time, be it the winter months ( those golf) or work summers ( hate the cold and go south) and now , it seems it's my turn to figure what I want to do and how to get through the semi retirement transition. I would rather exit on my own terms than be "moved" off as a truck operator. Now that I have took a deep breathe and admitted to myself that it's time, the next phase isn't so scary...

Any diet that doesn’t allow coffee isn’t worth being on!! Also, if you want to get more steps, get a dog. I go to the dog park everyday. It does help although I’m 63 and struggling with the last 5 pounds for years. The new retired me is enjoying watching the New Retired “You”!

I'm 68 and generally eating a plant-based diet with the odd bit of dairy and some fish. I do Intermittant Fasting - 16:8 and it's had a great overall effect, from weight loss to energy levels. I stop eating at 6 pm, and then don't eat again til 10 am, so I'm sleeping through most of the fast. After the first week (which comes with some cravings), cravings go away and I don't even notice I'm fasting! I end up having 2 meals a day and that's plenty.

I’m always searching for that one clincher statement that will help me stop snacking junk food. I started watching Bryan Johnson and he says that part of us that is self destructive ie evening Bryan, wasn’t trustworthy and so he fired him not allowing him to make choices anymore. Trust the data and the science. Only one day trying this for myself. I love the idea.

If you are adding butter and eggs to your morning coffee…you have disrupted your intermittent fasting. It is so difficult to tell others what to do. I am on a low carb plan…I did not adapt this plan for weight loss, but to reduce my AC1. Weight loss was a surprise … I eliminated all sugars, but I did allow some hard cheese and heavy cream when making soups and sauces. Recently I have added 2 tbs of 4% full cottage cheese to my diet. Something I very much missed when I gave up dairy. When I gave up dairy, I gave up heartburn. So far, the small portion of full fat cottage cheese has not disrupted my heartburn. I also allow myself, when luncheon with friends, an enchilada, a taco and a few chips.
Allow yourself a cocktail…hard liquor doesn’t have sugar…it’s the mixes, so drink it straight and enjoy it. I am enjoying your videos…

Yeah, I don’t usually do that quite that early in the morning. I did it for the video. :). You need to vary your diet- some days keto, some days 150gm carbs, some fast days, some days 3 meals, some days intermittent fasting from 13-18 hours and some days one meal a day.
    Metabolic flexibility is the goal

  • @stephaniecranston8134

Boy! I get it. I did keto for a year or so. I lost 25 pounds and enjoyed thevdiet. Then at my annual appointment my cholesterol was high and my doctor said that with my low thyroid issues, keto was not right for me. I also was probably eating too much cheese. So I switched to intermittent fasting and was eating 2 meals between 12 noon and 8 at night. So the weight was staying off. Well, a couple of very stressful tax seasons and a coworker/friend dying suddenly during last tax season took care of that. I still don't eat until noon, but all other bets are off. My weight has gone back up. I will find an even keel again, but right now I am thinking of that lovely sherbet in the freezer...

I finally stopped dieting and my weight changes settled down. Stopped thinking about it. I do not snack. Rarely eat breakfast or lunch other than black coffee and maybe some nuts or vegetable juice. And really eat only about one meal a day in late afternoon. And I eat all I want around that meal. Anything goes until I am full. But I do eat healthy, mostly organic, and almost no processed foods. I make nearly everything from scratch, like bread. That effort alone burns a lot of calories! And I do not get hungry. My weight just stays constant. Except.......if I eat a lot of desserts!

I saw your comment about not snacking. I'd just written the same thing! I had a decent diet but the snacking was the thing which ruined it -- which was hard to understand because the snacks didn't seem to be a problem -- but they were!

    • @annsalty5615
      @annsalty5615 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Grunfeld Thats great! Snacking certainly can undermine things. I now eat almost anything within reason and do not sweat the calories or fat content. Sugar though is something I do try to limit. I also avoid bad fats like canola oil, margarine, i.e. give me real butter and lard! And eggs! Heavy cream!

Try to eat when hungry stop before too full. I don't snack. Recently thyroid over/under treated. Hopefully we are all still healthiER than we were even if stalled. Still must have coffee first.

Diet culture is insidious. We weigh what we weigh. Eat a balanced diet that includes all foods, mostly whole at regular meals. Including vegetables. Hunger is a signal from your body that it needs nutrients.

Im 35 years old and a woman and most of my adult life ive been a comfortable 132lbs, but since my sister died/I had two babies back to back, Ive put on some weight (im now 148/150) i have been struggling like hell to get off. I exercise every single day, i never binge eat, i eat a lot of fruit and veg and drink a ton of tea and water. Dont snack. Not sure why my body wont shed the excess, but im also thankful im still a size 4/6. Getting older definitely changed my body and ability to lose as quickly.
