My customers would get upset if I showed up without her, they liked her more then they liked me which made both her & I so happy. My favorite breed hands down. They are so sweet. A client of the hospital I worked for had a rottie, 140 lbs if not bigger his name is angel and he's the biggest Baby ever. He got loose in our town (we live in the same town) and he called the police to let them know. They were petrified. I found him 2 blocks from me rolling around and hecharged me and licked me all over and rolled on his back for belly rubs. The police came by with panic in their eyes as angel and I played in the grass. He's scared of his own shadow, cats and flowers. Blowing in the breeze lmao.

    I used to underestimate how huge this breed is. When I met one, I was amazed. She was well behaved and very attentive to environment. She sat beside me and I could easily compare myself to how big this dog was. I’m short and petite soooo... Even if she was sitting on the ground and me on the chair, it looked like she towered me. But I think it’s just how she acted. She carried herself like a queen!

    Folks have this idea that Rotties are mean dogs. I've yet to meet one who wouldn't knock you over through sheer playfulness then lick you to death. Great dogs, large and powerful but lovely temperament. In my experience very loving and I enjoyed the clips of them and the cats messing about together.

    • @ryancampbell7076
      @ryancampbell7076 6 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      Irene : yes a lot of people out Rotties in the same category as the cliched ‘vicious’ dog breed category along with Shepherds, Dobermans, Pit-bulls and the like. In my experience the bigger the dog breed generally the bigger the baby. It’s the little ‘ankle biter’ breeds that can be more often aggressive due to Napoleon syndrome! :)

    • @Irene-gq4jr
      @Irene-gq4jr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@ryancampbell7076 In my experience those who choose the ankle biters treat them like babies and forget that the dog doesn't know what size it is, it just knows it's a dog but isn't being treated like one in the sense that dogs have a different mentality from humans. Once again Ryan, it comes down to dog owners doing the wrong thing.

    • @ryancampbell7076
      @ryancampbell7076 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Agreed. Frankly there’s a lot of treating all dogs as babies and humanizing all dogs a little too much regardless of size or breed. People tend to forget they are dogs.

    • @Irene-gq4jr
      @Irene-gq4jr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@222_tx I find GSDs to be very sensitive dogs, almost as schzoid as Border Collies, but very intelligent, loyal and loving too although often only to one person or family. Dobermans are sensitive, smart dogs and if mistreated then of course that can go wrong. But any breed of dog can be trained to guard/attack; some have more inclination for it than others and the bigger, smarter dogs are more formidable. 99% of the time the problem is not with the dog, it's with their clueless owner.

      @@liamdahvis3153 Are rottweiler tails weaker/brittle than other dog breeds?

    • @SpearM3064
      @SpearM3064 6 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@marcush5885 Not in general, but it is not uncommon for dogs to break their tails, especially dogs with long, thin tails or happy and outgoing dogs who bang their tails into objects. Tails that get broken at the base can cause nerve damage which can be very serious. Repeated injury might have caused Liam's dog to develop a degenerative bone problem (remember that the tail is an extension of the spine!), neuralgia (a nerve injury causing constant pain), or serious infection requiring amputation.
      In general, though, I agree with Eliot... don't get a dog's tail docked for purely cosmetic reasons. If there is a medical condition requiring amputation, fine, but don't get it docked just because you think it makes the dog look better. Remember that dogs use their tails to communicate! Docking the tail is putting them at a social disadvantage, *and* if done without anaesthesia, it is *extremely* painful. The same goes for cropping the ears, don't do it unless there is a medical reason (such as poor blood flow causing the tips of the ears to become ulcerated).

      Karen Love I don’t know Iv only ever seen one Rottweiler that was mean to cats but never humans unless they are trained police dogs but did your brother get his from a breeder or a pet store because we have a Dachshund and she can be mean and my wife use to breed them and never seen one so mean but we found out that the pet store we got her from got her from a puppy mill and that probable has a lot to do with it when she was a puppy till at least a year every time we would go to pick her up or go to pet her head fast she would snap at us she’s not as bad now but we have given her lots of love for the last 7 years and she trusts us now but it took a long time to get her to trust us. Usually it’s something that happened in that first 8 weeks old that will dictate what that dog is going to be like but you have to socialize that dog with other dogs and other people and 99.99 % of the time that dog is going to be a good dog. Did your brother socialize the dog a lot when it was young ? And see if it came from a pet store because puppy mills are terrible and they miss treat there dogs horribly and it does have a lasting effect on that dog.

    Never had a dog because never had the space. Only time I’ve come close to these is a neighbour years ago who got two full grown Rottweilers. Their house was the same two up/down terraced house with a small back garden. The dogs lived in a pen at bottom of garden and rarely taken out. They would bark and whine and it was like children crying. They escaped once. One came into our garden, I was scared but she was completely lovely. The other was running up and down the street enthusiastically greeting everyone. Had a big row with the guy later. Learnt he thought he was doing a good thing, the original owner couldn’t look after them. They moved somewhere else and I hope they’ve got space and are loved. They are nice people.

    • @miko8732
      @miko8732 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not mutilation, rottweilers have a weaker tail than a lot of other breeds so it's easy for the tail to break and when a rottweilers tail breaks it can cause serious nerve damage, and the nerve damage is typically much more serious in rotties than most other dogs. For some rottweilers it's necessary as a weak tail can be passed down through genes, in a lot of cases the tail gets clipped at birth so that the dog doesn't have problems with its tail.
