I'm Marie's friend Jim. My brother and I went across back in 1993 and I'll tell you what, It was quite exciting. The view was just crazy and beautiful. RIP my brother Jack.
This video was shot shortly before the 2013 Royal Gorge Fire and is a good representation of what the park looked like before the fire destroyed 90% of the buildings and attractions.
Wow thanks for this video, we went on vacation in Colorado in 1978 I was 8 years old we walked across this bridge I remember looking over the side and spitting and watch my spit float down LOL I haven't seen this view of it since then. I believe at that time for some reason you can only walk across it no automobiles were allowed
Over 1000 feet above the river and the best they can do is put wooden planks down?!!! Thats just nuts!! I would be afraid to walk across it let alone drive a car!!
I understand, I'm a bit the same but I was referring to the construction of this bridge in 6 months by 80 workers, an amazing feat for it's time. Imagine what how long that would take now and the cost !!
We were supposed to drive over it during the special operating period during COVID, where they allowed up to 250 cars a day to drive over, but my dad got deployed :(. Would have been cool.
I didn't drive over it, but I did walk and it was so nerve wrecking. I seriously turned around and went back like 3 times before I finally made it over. And then I realized. . . crap, I gotta get back to the other side to get to my car.
They charge $24 to just walk across that stupid bridge. It's dangerous and it feels like you're walking the plank to a one thousand foot drop off. Well, at least they aren't losing any money if you do fall off.
The bridge is as dangerous as you make it. If you do stupid stuff (like sitting on the rail), than you might fall off. Don’t do stupid stuff, and you are totally safe. Also, it is well worth the money.
UNCLEDOUG I LIVED IN COLORADO IN 1958 CROSSED THE BRIDGE IN A ford STATION WAGON AND MY MOTHER LOST HER SH - - !!! LOVE COLORADO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah let's just see if we can really test the weight of this ancient ass janky bridge 1000 feet up and try to get as many cars on it as possible at one time 😓
You’re a braver man than I.
how do you get back?
The ninja on the mountains Same way, a few hours later! lol

What is the purpose? To see if you happen to be on it when it finally collapses?
That bridge is periodically inspected. It's been upgraded more than once. It's an engineering masterpiece, no danger of it falling any time soon.

Michael Stumphauzer
What would you suggest they could have used in 1929 that would have been better and still be serviceable now ??

yes me too
Michael Stumphauzer walked across it the other day. Kinda scary knowing that it’s only wood your on and if it broke you don’t have anything to hold to
It's not just wooden planks

Been there,beautiful
Please tell me you wasnt holding a camera while driving? This bridge is too murchh for me
Can you still drive over it? I thought it was pedestrian traffic only.

If everyone would jump off this bridge we could probably end COViD19. Just sayin.
Thanks but no
Seeing as how the bridge was NOT designed for that kind of load, that is STUPID to do.
I thought people only walked across it. I didn't realize cars traveled across. I remember walking across it when I was a kid.
