I just discovered your channel, I have a question, is 89 octane gasoline a mixture of 87 and 93 made inside the gas station? Is this true or does it depend on the brand of fuel? Thanks.
Yes sir the pumps actually mix it themselves nowadays... if you see a pump that has mid 89 oct then the pump is a little bit older then the newer ones.. doesn't depend on brand all it depends on is how new the pumps are... but yes it does mix it at the pump.. now with that being said there are still stores where we have to mix it in the trailer when we are loading it where we load so much 87 and then load 93 on it to mix at the rack...
Why you using the F fitting on the dsl drop? Also why get a print out if your going to stick it? My trailer has 4 compartments on it. We use the manifold all the time
Ain't never heard of it called a F fitting.. we call it a double drop... I use it cause I don't have another single drop... Really interesting video and I’m intrigued by all of this. I’m 2 years out from retirement of my military service and just trying to get ideas for my next career. Is it hard to get your CDL and tanker endorsement? I know how to drive a manual transmission, but 6 gears is most I’ve ever used and hauling a 54’ trailer seems a little scary. Easy to learn? The job itself as a tanker driver, do you enjoy it? I noticed on your soundings of the tank that you don’t use any indicating paste, or was that cut out? I’m used to pumps, tanks and soundings on ships. Not sure if the terminology is the same. Haha anyway sorry for my long comment. Thank you for your video and any advice that you may have.
Law in louisiana is in rural areas no vapor recovery is required... only metropolitan areas we have to recover the vapors.... not quite sure what you mean by vapor dust cover... I have my vent dust cover on trailer off so the trailer can vent properly...
In louisiana law is in rural areas we are not required to hook up vapor recovery.. only in the big metropolitan areas are we required to hook it up.. this store was classified as rural
I really can't make a video of how we load the trailers due to no camera equipment in the racks but I do have one rack we go into that might let me do it but u haven't asked yet... if I am hauling fuel I am pretty much home but I usually stay gone all week hauling oil across the lower 48
This one was a older video lol i first looked at ya and thought dam mike you got a trim but upon further inspection this is a older video been awhile since you pulled with that gubber of a truck i like the video lol 😅😅😅
Why do you get stick readings when the ullage has already informed you that there wont be overflow. Is it that you don't trust the ullage estimate until you see what's actually there off the mark?
Always go by what your stick says... the ticket that I printed out don't always give you an accurate reading... so we stick so we can get the most accurate reading...plus it will tell us by sticking the tank if the Veeder (ticket) is not accurate so we can let the customer know to get it fixed...
Been driving for 4 years now. Home daily and just got my hazmat endorsement. I'd like to get into hauling fuel. How do you know when a tank is full, is there a meter to show capacity?
Yea, we have that print out from inside the stores to tell us how much it can hold and stuff but if you are not at a store with a print out and you start to fill the tank then the flow stops and we'll let's put it this way.. this coming up Monday I got a video gonna drop from my labor day loads and let me just say that this very question is answered on that video
Question. Aren't you supposed to hook up the buck Rodgers to the no led and hook up the vapor hose? shouldnt you stick after hooking up the vapor to get better readings
Thank you, and the only thing we have to wear is fire retardent clothing and safety glasses and work boots when at some of the loading racks... but other than that, not really
Fuel hauling is never a how many loads or hours do I do.. it always changes.. but typically work a 14 hr day with about 3 loads a day Give or take a little
I am curious about this stuff and not a truck driver. I would say it would take multiple trucks to initially fill any single station. In the USA, the weight limit of the truck on the roads would prevent any single truck from bringing enough gas.
@Life-On-18-Wheels 1 follow up question. Why do you stick the tanks even though you already have the Vedder reading from inside the store? Is it just to double check levels?
@@Life-On-18-Wheels do you use one of those umbrellas to cover them? I’m trying to get into fuel hauling and your videos are a great learning tool, thank you for taking the time to make these!

You've never heard about this? Wow...Need to let the tank "breathe" so you get a better stick reading!@@Life-On-18-Wheels
Ullage ... What is that, empty space in gallons? How do you know when you're done unloading?
Ullage is what the tank can hold... we have sight glasses on the loading head so we cab see when it empties
@@Life-On-18-Wheels thanks 1:25 Okay but then i assume volume would be volume 😅 already inside... So if it had a 2451 gallons and you said you will put in additional 6500 gal ...the math wouldnt add up good if the ullage is 7277,no? What am i missing? I am just confused
Tank is 10000 gal total 2451 was already there and 90 percent ullage is the 7277.. meaning I can put 7 thousand gal before tank is full..
I’m starting in August waiting for my TSA to get clear. I’m pumped looks fun.
Awesome man...
Interesting process, I’ve often thought about tanker work, this makes it even more interesting.
Thanx for the content.
Absolutely.. I do appreciate it
Pull a tank is better then any other trailer
Hello sir, I’m 5’3 Male will I be able to drive this truck? I’m thinking if I could reach the pedal thank you so much and stay safe always!
Oh yeah slide the seat up lol
I like the video because you do a good job of explaining everything that you do
Ty much
Fuel hauling was the best job I had. It’s sucks that I moved and had a find time finding another good company and had to go by OTR.
I love it wished I would had done it along time ago
You don’t run a vapor line for your super and no lead? I noticed you have the vapor dust cover off. Does it essentially do the same thing?
Law in louisiana is in rural areas no vapor recovery is required... only metropolitan areas we have to recover the vapors.... not quite sure what you mean by vapor dust cover... I have my vent dust cover on trailer off so the trailer can vent properly...
Does that store not require a vapor hose hookup?
In louisiana law is in rural areas we are not required to hook up vapor recovery.. only in the big metropolitan areas are we required to hook it up.. this store was classified as rural
@@Life-On-18-Wheels oh ok I was like he missed a step lol good stuff watching all your videos now!
I like working at night so I don't have to worry bout spillin, just leave lol
Lmao come on now 🤣 😂
Most small amounts you can put the pads on it and it'll evap before ya know it
I just got my endorsement for tanker and hazmat. How long did it take you to learn how to load the gas. Plus did your employer train
As long as your pretty quick at learning then not long at all.. and the company did train me
Will you be making a video of how your fuel is loaded into the tanker? Are you home everyday or are you over the road?
Always go by what your stick says... the ticket that I printed out don't always give you an accurate reading... so we stick so we can get the most accurate reading...plus it will tell us by sticking the tank if the Veeder (ticket) is not accurate so we can let the customer know to get it fixed...
no vapor hoses?
Been driving for 4 years now. Home daily and just got my hazmat endorsement. I'd like to get into hauling fuel. How do you know when a tank is full, is there a meter to show capacity?
Yea, we have that print out from inside the stores to tell us how much it can hold and stuff but if you are not at a store with a print out and you start to fill the tank then the flow stops and we'll let's put it this way.. this coming up Monday I got a video gonna drop from my labor day loads and let me just say that this very question is answered on that video
@Life-On-18-Wheels thanks for the reply, I will definitely take a look Monday. Be safe out there!
Right on! Do you engage a pump to do the unloading? What mode of unloading (bilk, gravity, etc)
This is gravity... we just hook up and let it go... no pump needed
How many loads during the shift do you have to transport?
No vapor hose??
You have 3 inch gravity drop hoses?
Yes all our hoses are 3in and 2in
Question. Aren't you supposed to hook up the buck Rodgers to the no led and hook up the vapor hose? shouldnt you stick after hooking up the vapor to get better readings
once again in Louisiana, if you are in a rural area, you do not have to hook up vapor recovery in the big Metropolitan areas.
@@Life-On-18-Wheels ok gotcha. We gotta do it up here in Texas. So just wondering. I probably missed your explanation.
10-4
It’s ok to use the same hose for diesel and gas? Shouldn’t there be a specific one for each?
Yes there is only residue from the last product In the hoses so it won't be much to contaminate...
Great video. Out of curiosity is there a requirement to have personal protective equipment when handling hazardous liquids such as fuel and diesel?
Thank you, and the only thing we have to wear is fire retardent clothing and safety glasses and work boots when at some of the loading racks... but other than that, not really
How did u vent it
How many drops do you do per day and how many hours do you work?
Fuel hauling is never a how many loads or hours do I do.. it always changes.. but typically work a 14 hr day with about 3 loads a day Give or take a little
Question please,Why no vapor recovery for the super? Thx
No vapor recovery on louisiana is necessary in rural areas only in metropolitan areas
Ok,thanks. I'm here in ft.worth,TEXAS & I just got my hazmat last week.Looking to get into hauling fuel for starters.
Oh ok if you have any questions then ask away I will try and help you out... good luck
How many stations can 1 truck fill?
I am curious about this stuff and not a truck driver. I would say it would take multiple trucks to initially fill any single station. In the USA, the weight limit of the truck on the roads would prevent any single truck from bringing enough gas.
No vapor hose needed here? I just started hauling fuel,3rd day of training so I’m watching videos to get more knowledge.
No not at this store location
from one fuel hauler to another great job how long is your trailer? be safe out there
Thank you man... trailer is 45 ft
Do you have to ground the trailer first? I think I would take it slow if I started this till I get used to it.
No have never grounded trailer.... they may do it different elsewhere but I was never taught to do it that way
@Life On 18 Wheels thanks for reply and video sir
Yes sir anytime
@Life-On-18-Wheels 1 follow up question. Why do you stick the tanks even though you already have the Vedder reading from inside the store? Is it just to double check levels?
Always stick the tanks... it's the most accurate reading... the Vedder root sensors can be way off sometimes...
Immediately liked the video when I seen Shipleys
lol thank you
How come u did not earth the trailer?
This is some next level cowboy fuel haulin'.. tell yuh whut.
🤔
You didn't collect vapors? 🤔
What do you do differently (if anything) in the rain or inclement weather?
Nothing really just try and keep the water from getting in the tanks
@@Life-On-18-Wheels do you use one of those umbrellas to cover them? I’m trying to get into fuel hauling and your videos are a great learning tool, thank you for taking the time to make these!
Oh no problem man... as long as the hose is connected to the drop then there ain't much to worry about but when you get finished unloading I usually take the lid and cover it so no water gets in
@@Life-On-18-Wheels cool! I’m gonna subscribe 😉 Thanks for the info.
I have alot of other videos showing unloading at stores and doing pumps and all kind of stuff that you can learn from.. I do appreciate it..
do you use the same hose for your diesel and then your supreme?
Yes
@@Life-On-18-Wheels isn't that cross contamination? Especially going from diesel to gasoline?
The hose is empty how is that cross contaminated? Explain
How many trips a day yu do?
Do you still unload in a downpour? What do you do to prevent water contamination?
Good question..I'll explain in the upcoming videos...
I'd imagine the amount of water that gets in is negligible compared to what's already in there.@@Life-On-18-Wheels
