As a Black woman, I LOVE trains! From ‘93-96 while attending ISU in Terre Haute, IN I lived four blocks from the nearest tracks. That sound at night was awesome especially when it was raining or snowing. I came across your channel while looking for the documentary on the Canadian Rockies trains. Thanks for this!❤
Yeah angel I’m the same way I grew up on the southern railroad in my little town of Pearl River Louisiana and I wasn’t but one block away from the tracks so every time a train would come I’d get on my bicycle and ride up to the tracks just to watch that try and go by And me too I love listening to a train at night when everything is still in they sound so good but you have a blessed weekend my friend
Clearly, the NS train saw the *JT Not Ready* signal, and the engineer, out of professional courtesy, brought his train to a full stop so you would not miss it and as a bonus you got to hear the sweet symphony of the lead powering up as the train gradually accelerated. Kudos to NS professionalism!
I grew up falling asleep at my grandparents house to the sound of the night trains on the tracks one house away. Just had a bad night, and fell asleep to your video. Best sleep all night! Will watch the video now, while I am awake! Thanks!😻

Wow, that is awesome David! You had my dream job. I always wondered what it was like riding in the locomotive in bad weather and at night. I bet you saw it all. Thanks for your comments
This is the first time I've watched one of your videos in a long time. I'm glad to be able to watch them again. I've been fighting cancer the past year, but I'm in remission now. You had some great train action on this one. I can't believe that Shoestring is gone. May he RIP. I hope the kitty is still around and is Ok.
While CSX kicked things off with a priority Intermodal train the NS crew heard you were in the area and did not want to disappoint your filming and the viewers from not seeing a great variety of General Freight and they certainly didn't disappoint. Those metal cylinders on the center beam cars have appeared several times in an ancient and obscure Cleveland Industrial Park and are about the last customer left for NS. Couldn't go wrong with the rail grinder noisy as it is and then get one more General Freight on CSX. Perfect way to kick off the weekend
Thanks! As a child in Michigan, used to lay in bed and hear the train whistles way far off in the night. Very soothing. I'm sure others feel the same about hearing a far off whistle coming across the fields.....
Beautiful invention one of man's greatest accomplishments, don't know many people who don't like trains, they can be scary because they are so powerful.
I worked on a crew following LORAM railgrinders around USA . It was a very memorable time seeing some cool and not so nice places. The crew working on the grinders work in some very harsh conditions. Many only last a few weeks or months b4 quitting. My job was following behind the grinder putting out fires that would start up after the grinder would move forward. I have a special respect for railroad workers as they live in a dangerous environment daily.
Some people would get bored watchin' trains. But when you consider where they been, where they're going to and what they are hauling, It makes you dream a little. I love trains I could set there and watch'm all day
There are all kinds of interesting things about trains. I like looking at the rail to see how old it is and I like seeing buildings next to the tracks. Thanks for watching!
It's like that NS train was waiting for you JT to finish filming the CSX train so you could film them. Soon as you got over there it was like Okay let's go, cool and DPUs just for U JT
130 wagons. I never ever saw such a long train in my life. I wish the horn from trains in my country were so incredibly loud. It is much safer. Special at night. The second one had around 170 wagons and to locomotives. Amazing. Glad this channel popped up in my feed. I love it. You don't see where I live.
That’s another one for saving JT. I really enjoy seeing a freight start, especially with a GE leading. And a sprinkling of new cars and old hoppers from the Rock. Ticks all the boxes for “excellent video”
I worked for Loram on a rail grinder for years before moving up in the company, and then to the railroad. The other week Loram was parked near my house where I can see and hear CSXT trains going by. It is so nice to hear more and more trains per day and not less.
A fabulous NS mixed freight with double DPUs mid train. It had 3 new untagged box cars and several new gondolas also untagged. Very nice yet unusual! Very long at 179 cars. Great catch JT! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Sounds great! I love that place. See if you can find my signature in the sign in book that they have on the table. The night trains there are awesome. The downtown is lit up pretty good so you will be able to see them
@@JawTooth we read your comments in the book. We toured the museum today! We filmed 2 trains last night after dark. Loved the lights and atmosphere of small town.
That was a nice opening sequence of the CSX train and the Norfolk Southern trains in Carlisle, Ohio. What a great coincidence that the Norfolk Southern train stopped just short of the crossing while the CSX train was still passing the road crossing. The Norfolk Southern train waited a bit after the CSX train passed before it started to move. The two mid-train DPUs were working hard to move the Norfolk Southern train along. I enjoyed watching the small Loram rail grinder moving past the various locations where you were able to capture it.
This is a good one. While CSX is booking by, a NS is waiting on another track. 😊Boy that NS train was long. Oh yes, two DPUs I see you on this train. Loved the open door box car.❤It appears two trains in one.The rail grinder sure eas interesting!love your fur babies. Thanks for a fantastic video Mr JT. We will watch it again. ❤😊
My dad worked on the RR and we lived next to the tracks in a small town in Iowa . Used to fall asleep listening to the sounds . A steam locomotive was pulling out of the yard in Waterloo . We were waiting at a crossing . This was in 1949 . My dad told us a bunch of hobos would come out of their jungle. He was right . There were about twenty men getting on the train .
The NS train, although I couldnt really see the springs, is a heavy train for just one up front. With all the steel cars then tanks, auto racks, and I've got to mention, 6 new gons totally untagged, this is one heck of a train. Never saw centre beams carrying pipe before either. Wow, what a train! I did expect a couple of pushers too, but, alas... Glad it stopped and waited so you could catch it JT.
I love seeing really long double stacked intermodals. It’s so cool you folks have them in the USA. As far as I know, we don’t have them in Australia which’s where I’m from. Thanks for the video Jaw Tooth.
Obviously, you being you, the NS stopped so the CSX train could finish going past thus enabling you to get a shot of the whole NS train. If I understand, the smaller Loram is used to either redo or touch up crossings. The larger machines (as long as 6-10 rail cars)do the majority of the real grinding. Scott shot some good stuff of them going through a week or so ago.

What strikes me as incredible viewing this from little ol' UK is the number of large heavy trailers the train engine was pulling. In my estimation that first train was towing 134 goods wagons all of them carrying large heavy cargo. What kind of diesel engine power is needed to tow that lot? And it's mind boggling how long it would take to un-hitch all those wagons when the train arrives at it's terminus. They seem to occupy more than a mile length maybe even 2 miles - such scale!
