  • The secular view is not that I’m a person of inviolable value, and worth, and the equal of every other human being. But when atheists believe it, that’s dissonance.

The hell is this guy on about? He's arguing with a fantasy.

The argument from the declaration of Independence that you have inalienable rights endowed by your creator and not from the government which is accepted by mostly everyone within the US.

@@brandonwheaton1081 I highly doubt that's his thought process. He's yet another evangelical/creationist that can only argue with made up viewpoints and ideas. Because . . . I have no idea why, and the possible reasons are just too long for a TH-cam comment.

@@michaelgloch1179but that is the argument. The thing he is calling a fairy tale is saying you have inalienable rights if there's no God. If there is is no God there's no such thing as rights but just privileges granted by the government that can be taken away at any time. No God = Declaration of Independence a fairy tale ideal.

It makes perfect sense what he is saying- to believe in objective human value, worth and Human Rights requires belief in God. A materialistic viewpoint could have these values but they would be ‘stolen’ from a theistic worldview. Jeremy Bentham would agree…

Which god for a start. Empathy exists in humans by nature. We’re shown love we often act loving. The most violent are usually abused when younger. It’s not hard to work out. If we treat each other well we behave well generally. Some don’t but some religious folks don’t either

There's no cognitive dissonance to believe in the principle of human rights. Innocent till proven guilty is a important concept to a fair justice system that must of us believe in because it makes just as objectively better. But no one actually believes a criminal is innocent of a crime until a court says otherwise.. in fact they're guilty the moment they commit the crime

The link to the full video is in the description, but it doesn't work on my phone app. If you're watching on a proper computer, it might work for you.
