@@vaughnjh I am glad to hear from you. I do recognize your name. I do not recognize your picture but I am sure you don't recognize mine either. I was in the band from 1965 thru 1969 so I got to experience the band before and after 1967,
It is my understanding that the band on the sideline is Kent State, according to FB link to share this video. Evidently, it was with their help that the video was able to be dated!
This is from Sept. 30, 1967, when Kent State played OU at Ohio University's Peden Stadium (OU vs. Kent State), regionally televised on ABC. The Marching Men of Ohio were under the direction of Gene Thrailkill. We identified the exact date by knowing that the Kent State band came to OU that year, and also by knowing the show music which was performed on that date. The show: Lara’s Theme from Dr. Zhivago Up Up and Away Lover’s Concerto/Taste of Honey Malaguena
It was 67. I was in the band only that year and these were our routines and music. I’m on trombone. And we did have a brand new drum major, a guy named Dave -- from Cincinnati.
Awesome College band yesterday AND today!!
That was one heck of a performance we did!
I was there playing trombone that day. I was so nervous. I was proud to be there. - Dick Martin
I was on trombone, too, Dick. John Vaughn

I recall coming onto that field that day. What a memory. Great drive and punch. So proud to have been a part of it.
They did nothing slow then I love it
THAT IS A PROPER DRIVE ON TEMPO
My brother Bill Fay was the drum major
I remember Bill, but he wasn’t drum major that year…it was a freshman named Dave from Cincinnati.
It would be a welcome change to see a drum major/ majorettes back on the field at OU.

Wow...We were pretty darn good!
One kick ass band

Ok. This is very very cool. Any idea who the other band is on the sidelines ?
Kent State
No way this could be '67. I was a snare drummer that year. We had 4 snare drums and no male drum major. I do not see me.

Is that malengua ?
Malagueña - yes. Written in 1928 - an oldie but a goodie!
Love this!
