I find it so cool that the two biggest schools in ohio, ( Ohio state & Ohio University ) are both reconized all around the US for the awsome marching band preformances. Could'nt be a better time for both universities !
Even the highschools all across the state are amazing its like something about the area makes marching in a band better i go to Evergreen highschool in Ohio and we have gotten state titles multiple times and even though its a small school (about 400 highschool students at any given time). Our marching band usually consists of about 120 students, im very proud to be a part of it.
I graduated from OU about 3 years ago and I can say no one on campus thinks the 110 are nerds. The whole student body loves them. In fact most of the crowds that went to football games would leave after half time because many were more interested in watching the 110 perform than the game. Homecoming is great because the drum line goes into every bar on court street and plays for the huge crowds of alum. It gets wild, they get covered in beer and play into the early hours. Not nerds at all haha.
I graduated in 1995! I did play trumpet in the high school band, but I’m kicking myself for not joining in college. Although at the time I thought that it was a lot to just study I couldn’t imagine being in the band. My friend was. The whole time I was at OU I don’t think we won a single football game but we sure did go for the same reason that you’re talking about above. We went to watch the band! It was so much fun and we would get up in the stands and dance with them as well! You’re right - they were definitely not nerds. They were cool!!!
Band was the best time of my life. High School and college. Now as for Ohio Band, well, they are very well known and now we have a very good example of why. They're great.
Just to be clear: Ou does a downfield (a song while marching), another drill that involves marching, and then a dance chart. They are not a pep band, and this video is not the only part of their show. My highschool band is run by an Alumn of OU so we march exactly like this. No one in OU cares about not being a competition band because they do music to get the crowd pumped for a good game of football, and what better way to do that then with pop or rocks songs that make the crowd go wild. I would recommend watching one of their rock and roll shows if you think they are just a pep band. :)
It really is exciting to hear this band. They inspire young and old alike. I have to take my dog home when they show up. He gets scared! Everyone is happy when they play. Love you Marching 110!
Paradiddle alternations are almost a "staple" in modern upbeat dance, especially in the game Just Dance. People really like showing of their LRLL RLRR rhythm!
Thank you so much for standing up for the marching band. I have had people diss me for being in it and they dont believe me it takes work. I have but in countless hours into marching band. Thank you
I love this!! This is such a fun entertainment! I was in a marching band at my jr. high so I know how it's exciting and brings joy of performing altogether in a band. If I could go back to my age 18, I'd have definitely gone to OSU just for one reason; to play in this great marching band!! By the way, their other performances like the tributes to The Queen and Michael Jackson are also "must to watch".
@Carson Parks, I know this is 5 years old, but unless you can toss a six ft pole above your head while marching backwards and smiling with graceful movements, I think you need to re-evaluate “waving flags around.” Lol
Even in high school marching band we have to treat it like that. idk if you're in marching band and if your band does that. please forgive me of I offended you somehow

MrOfficerCartman This is the fourth song of the show, the three proceeding songs are a downfield, across the field, and an augmented downfield, the final song the band forms into a block to dance, read up before posting stuff like this.
i can imagine during practice the choreographers were repeatedly saying "...and please please PLEASE try NOT to step on each others instruments during the dancing bit" lol
I know right haha, as if our band doesn't hear it enough
I'm sure there were a few incidents. 😉

+rawrindinasowrs I agree, OSU ia way better, and more entertaining. Their formations are insane. OU can call themselves the Most Exciting, but OSU is still the BEST.
jaja yo pensè que solamente en las peliculas pasaba :D
I love marching band, was in it for 5 years, best times of my life :)
so white but so lit
FAMU is better, but they did pretty good ON THE MUSIC. There could've been better dance choreography tho
Abigail Stroud There are rules on choreography in this band if the director can't do then the band can't do it.
Because marching band comes to you easy which in my opinion is a good thing keep it up bro and you could go along way.
That got very sexual.
THATS WHAT I THOUGHT TOO
Now I have ships to sail
I fucking hate how bands think that they just transpose every fucking pop song and make it sound good, it doesn't work like that!
Great b8 m8 i r8 8/8
If you had any sense in real music (from trumpets etc) then it sounds terriffic
Uhm sweetie, the adults are talking here... And btw no ones cares :)
Tranfkormes
actually it does work like that and the Marchiing 110 pulls it off exceptionally well. So kindly fuck off.
Sincerely,
A current Bobcat.
This is beyond awesome!!
They barely march lol
That's not marching band mate...
Brennan Ackermmann It's pepband. Pepband and marching bband are usually composed of the same people. But it is still the pepband.
im in a marching band, and pep band is where you stay in the stands, at least in high school
MrOfficerCartman This is the fourth song of the show, the three proceeding songs are a downfield, across the field, and an augmented downfield, the final song the band forms into a block to dance, read up before posting stuff like this.
The audience is low energy because the band is. The dancing was cool, but the music was... eh.
Low energy? C'mon, everyone was cheering and screaming.. It was awesome
U r right!, but is is really nice to enjoy . I can not wait until I study next semester at OU :)
