What great places. It is hard to find original buttery soft Kolaches south and west of Victoria, TX now a days. Shame. A Kolache to me is the fruit ones. That is the original og. I hate hate hate that the sausage ones are called kolaches. They need a different name. It is a different dough. I do love these guys new take on the baking business. Its what makes Texas great.
Keep in mind this is a little 700 square foot family run bakery from the 1950s. They don’t have control over the size of their parking lot or the size of their historic building which limits the service speed when they are super busy. I know they are working on an upcoming location in Old Downtown Pasadena that will be around 4,000 square feet to better serve the community.
Original kolache shop has terrible customer service for less than mid kolaches. Goodbye I’ll be the first to tell any Houstonian that. Shame on Chris for even featuring them when there are so many better kolache shops out there that are more deserving.

I was waiting too see a cameo appearance from Sarah & Laura Wicks at The Hot Bagel. A really great place that serves great food. ❤
Kolache shop makes you feel like they're doing you a favor every time you go in. Uppity Austin coffee house vibes. The Kolache dough is tasty.
Everyone there is unfriendly.
I had a very unpleasant experience.
