My teacher gives us these worksheets every lesson that are questions based on the video and it helps a lot. At friend i thought it was dumb and didn't do it but now they're really helping me.
Hey Doctowholuver26! Thanks so much for saying so!! I'm so glad they are helping! Keep up the good work! I hope you are having a great year!! Mr. Raymond
I learned that there is nothing about a cabinet in the US constitution. I forgot to comment last night but it is 7:00 in the morning. I did the guided notes!
Hi Mr.Raymond I am lucia, I did the guided notes. One of the things that I learned was that George Washington started the tradition of having a "Cabinent"
My civics teacher suggests the class to watch the video of yours that goes with the lesson to study, and he said that you are very good with the lessons and I agree.
I am Abraham Rodriguez from 5th period, I did the guided Notes. I learned that the president can appoint Court Justices and Federal Judges, but the Senate must confirm them.
In today's video I learned that the executive branch is composed by more than 4 million people. It is not only the President, but also the VP, Cabinet, and Executive Departments and Agencies.
I miss him too! Obama was President! ╯︿╰ when Donald 🎺 was annonced President! I was like nOOO! Pitch get me out of this horrible nightmare! Stop controlling them!! I'm not prepared! scar lol
Mr Raymond, the Constitution DOES provide for a cabinet to the President. It is established in Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, the Cabinet's role is to advise the President on any subject he may require relating to the duties of each member's respective office.
Actually, it says that "he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices." However, there were no executive departments created until 1789 two years after the Constitution was written. Nowhere does it say what the executive departments would be or what their duties would be. It certainly laid the groundwork for what would become the cabinet but it would take Congress to create the departments and GW to establish the precedent.
Thanks for the reply. But isn't that what a cabinet is: providing advice and information to the President, while being initially nominated by him to the Senate? And of course, there was no federal United States until 1789 when the Constitution was ratified. So, how could a cabinet have existed when no country yet existed, but just 13 independent states?
Hey Clarence, ugh... ugh, i started replying and lost it... so most people/historians date the creation of the United States to 1776 with the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and we had a first constitution known as the Articles of Confederation written in 1777 that lasted until 1789 creating a national government... So, yeah, you could make the argument that this little phrase "creates" a cabinet (although it doesn't call it that). But the vagueness of it would have allowed the first and any following presidents to just get a "written statement of opinion" from "department excutives" whomever and whatever those might be. But this concept of a group of advisors that would meet on a regular basis to provide the president with advise (and this part has depended on the president) - was definitely the creation of Washington (probably the best cabinet ever, although Lincoln's is my favorite.)
I am sorry. That happens to me too. To prevent it, press stop on the video. If you don't, once the video is over, the screen changes and you lose the text you have typed
Mr. Raymond, the term cabinet is French, referring to the storage cabinet used by the French "prime ministers" under Louis xv and XVI to store papers related to each function of the state officials in various drawers in the cabinet: agriculture into the drawer for agriculture, war into the drawer for war, etc. And the cabinet is the entire set. It would not be included in the American Constitution because the French had not yet used it. II.ii holds "He may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices." The principal officers in each of the executive departments are we refer to as the Cabinet today, no?
Thank you so much for your videos, they are very interesting, informative and well explained! Congratulations!!!

It's d, doesn't immediately but it can send a powerful message that the executive disagrees with the policy as far as public opinion is concerned
