I'm in 8th grade now and it's been a while since last year but I just wanted to thank you for your helpful videos! Thanks to you and studying my notes a lot I GOT A 4 out OF 5 ON THE EOC!!!
Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un is the official head of state of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea which claims the entire Korean Peninsula as its territory. Even the armistice which temporarily haulted the Fatherland Liberation War ended in Juche 102 (i.e. 2013). In spite of a generous outreach of noble effort by the government of Kim Jong-un to the United States aimed at formal discussions to end the War in Juche 105, the foreign aggressors' unreasonable demands brought sorrow of all Koreans and showed their clear intent of continuing the War to their detriment.
Samee I am thinking of writing my own story but I am clueless on how the government would work in the fictional world in my story lol. This vid was the most helpful out of 5 others that i watched. It was clear and direct.
Thanks. Didn't know the word "Oligarchy" which I realized is actually the most common system getting rooted in most of the 2nd and 3rd world countries today.
This is a great representation! I would have loved to have a teacher like you in school. The only thing I wish you would have mentioned is that "free healthcare and college" is not in fact free, it is paid for by people out of their taxes.
0:55 The UK is both a unitary parliament and constitutional monarchy. We normally refer to our system as a democracy because we elect the members of parliament (and it's easier to say). 2:20 Our monarch can dissolve the Australian parliament and literally declare war on any other country in the world, among other things, so of that's not power then what is?
Thanks Nintendo. These are terms kids need to know in the US to compare our government to others (unitary is in my "systems" of government)... Definitely, pretty crazy that the monarch can still declare war... although I don't see that happening without Parliamentary consent anytime soon, do you?
Hey, thanks for the response. The monarch is the commander-in-chief of the British Armed Forces so they are under the monarchs command and not parliaments. In theory the monarch could declare war without parliamentary consent for this reason. However, the outrage from doing so would probably lead the monarch being dethroned and possibly calling for the monarchy to be abolished all together so I sincerely doubt that they would ever be used. It's a case of having grand executive powers with an unwritten rule saying that they can't really be used. If they did then they'd risk losing their wealth, status and privileged position within society and that seems to have kept the balance along with the stellar public image nationally and overseas.
@@nintendobinks792 Yeah, glad you brought that to my attention. I agree the response would probably be outrage... Our Congress passed a law in 1973 limiting the president's power to use military force to 60 days without Congressional approval (although technically they could keep fighting for 90 as long as they were removing troops.)... Congress usually gives permission to fight, but recently told President Obama to stop bombing Libya during the Arab Spring.... Anyway, happy holidays to you! Mr. Ray
I'd prefer more accountability in our system overall, like the USA has, but that's another topic entirely. Merry Christmas to yourself as well. I hope that you're having a great time!
So there are two types of monarchies - absolute and constitutional. Constitutional is the one that England has today in which Parliament has the power and the king or queen is mostly symbolic. Absolute monarchies (like Saudi Arabia or England in the old days) are where the king or queen has all of the power and are like dictatorships. However absolute monarchs might chose to share some of that power or give the people some rights or freedoms. Totalitarianism means that the government controls all aspect of life and has unlimited power - think Germany under Hitler or North Korea today...
I am in 7 grade in school and this rea.y help me out alot in school because i get to pass my exam and get high grades in school and in order to get a job under the government this can help alot of persons in the world so they can get a job that they like to do under the government in any counrty in the wprld so i want to thank you very much and i hope you could bring out any more videos on certain things dealing with the government and what they do
Sorry for the slow response which you probably don't need anymore... Oligarchy is "rule by a few or small groups" and while they are usually wealthy - they aren't always. Most aristocracies are oligarchies but by using the term you are implying that they are wealthy or inherited their power
@@MrRaymondSocialStudies I’m unable to find any information on ‘the roles and responsibilities of government’ for my assessment. Do you have any information or good sources I could use?
Not much really. Absolute monarchies didn't last long. Autocracy just means rule by one or a few - but these days they aren't usually monarchies. (except for example Saudi Arabia)
these words often sounded so overlapping to me that I would not use them without checking and re-checking. this small lecture was so good I can finally say that I have a clear idea. and especially the examples really expand on the definitions. great content
@@dimondsamking4525 Hey sorry for the slow response... So aristocracy implies rule by the upper classes or just a word to describe the aristocracy... France in 1789 was on its final stages of Absolute Monarchy as it headed into the French Revolution... Louis XIV who built Versailles and ruled in from the mid-1600s to early 1700s was the ultimate absolute monarchy.... Don't mean to nitpick, as this is overall a good presentation, but Kim Jong-un is of North Korea, not South. Just saying is all
+ghal416 Oh no did I say South Korea?! Embarrassing. Thanks Ghal!
No problem at all sir. Just letting it be known. Keep up the good work otherwise. Find your presentations very informative :)

Don't know if you will respond, but at 12:00, couldn't the answer be dictatorship too or does it have to be autocracy?
Thanks!
Thanks, took an EOC last year and scored a 5/5. Thank you kind sir.

Hi Mr Raymond, I did my guided notes and in this video I learned that democracy means that the country is ruled by the people.
I learned this in highschool and again in people power and politics.
Are they still teaching the basics in highschool?
So these were made for 7th grade civics students, but they also learn this in high school US government classes.
Intro music?
Yeah it's a little annoying
Mr. Raymond's Civics and Social Studies Academy No Honestly I loved it, really great start to intrigue someone watching
Thanks. Didn't know the word "Oligarchy" which I realized is actually the most common system getting rooted in most of the 2nd and 3rd world countries today.
Your favorite student, Taylor Lakatis from period 1, learned that a referendum is when states ask the people to vote on proposals.
