    Everything that Tim Minchin says, does, and is, is BRILLIANT. The man is incredibly talented, amazingly skilled, and an utter genius, and were he not married I'd probably be trying to get into his pants. Either you love Tim Minchin, or you don't know Tim Minchin, or you're wrong. ^_^

    stage fright from early gigs, playing with no shoes made him feel more comfortable. So he's kept doing it. Fun fact about the eyeliner as well, he does a lot of facial expressions during the show and the eyeliner makes it easier to distinguish them from further back in the audience.

      Congrats on finding Tim! I am jealous that you get to discover him from scratch. He is perhaps one of the most talented and intelligent people on this earth, and a nice guy to top it off. He has some offensive material, but it is deliberately offensive to make some very valid points. He is a virtuosic pianist, comedian (though he identifies as a musician first and foremost), poet, writer, director and loves teaching people how to be better humans - stuff like understanding cognitive biases, avoiding tribalism, avoiding indoctrination and the importance of putting yourself in other peoples shoes. Don't just stick to his musical comedy stuff. His new less comedic stuff is great too and he also has some great thought provoking interviews/podcasts. He wrote the music for Matilda and Groundhog Day musicals. He is a genius - check out this one he wrote for Matilda which incorporates the whole alphabet in the lyrics th-cam.com/video/PgcNLTda4Js/w-d-xo.html. He also does a lot for charity - he gives the revenue for the 50 best seats at every performance directly to charity. All the revenue for "White Wine in the Sun" goes to Aspect for Autism awareness and the revenue for his Cardinal Pell song goes to victims of child abuse. The likely reason you're only just discovering him is because he identifies how bad fame is for people and their families and actively makes decisions to prevent himself from being too famous. It's part of the reason why he stepped away from comedy where he was playing to arenas and started writing Matilda. Aussie legend.

      @@PianoDiary85 Thank you for all that great info. I've been loving this guy so much I already watched 2 documentaries about him and I started watching UPRIGHT, and I'm loving it. He is a musical genius. My absolute favorite song is "Not Perfect" and the 3 minute song he wrote for late night show appearances. with a UK and a US version. YOU are a superfan !! Im in the US. You must be an Aussie?

      @@stocksconfidential8862 Upright is a beautiful show with a wonderful message. It's also very "Tim," considering he is also a musician from Perth like his character. In season 2 there is quite a lot of commentary about religion too which he is very outspoken about. I am from Perth as well, so I'm a bit biased 🙂(about 30 mins from Cottesloe Beach which he mentions in the song "Carry You" from that show). I love the imagery in Upright too because it's not often these parts of Australia are reflected on screen. I love "Not Perfect" - my favourite line is "it never says a bad word about me." His non-comedic stuff is great too - songs like I'll Take Lonely Tonight which is a very honest song about temptation in relationships and shows his loyalty to his wife. He is one of the good guys. Some would say otherwise like the dude who wouldn't rent him the piano, but they're ignorant. Here's a couple of fun performances 😊: th-cam.com/video/V2fQCnXSy4w/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/8dTDRa0o9aA/w-d-xo.html (Tim Minchin and Ben Folds together is almost too much nerdy piano talent for one stage).

    @Marialla. 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    For those who don't know: Tim also always rats up his hair and wears eye makeup on stage, and usually also crazy tight pants. It all started off as a way for him to mock hair and makeup bands, plus give people something to look at while he's stuck behind the piano. After doing it so long, though, it became his own trademark. Now it's kind of retroactively cool.

    • @SeasonsChange14
      @SeasonsChange14 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He calls it "rock star nerd." He also doesn't wear shoes on stage when he is in that mode. He actually looks quite handsome when his hair is brushed straight and he is in "normal" clothes. At one point during his award-winning Australian TV mini-series, "Upright," he put his hair in a "man bun," which looked flat-out awesome on him.
      You would never guess it, but he went to an expensive all-boys prep school in Perth for 11 years. His father and stepfather are physicians. He holds the equivalent of a master's degree from an Australian university. He is a gifted songwriter, lyricist, actor, comedian, and writer. He is really quite brilliant.

    I'm not really sure what you mean by people who argue against people who seem to feel entitled to decree what people should wear resembling bigots, I don't really think that that's the case. If you think that people of a certain sex should dress a certain way then simply dress the way that you think your sex should dress - and I honestly don't think that that message is in any way bigoted. I think what you're experiencing is people being frustrated by the way in which [contd]

    Don't be ridiculous. But how would a guy skipping through Victoria's Secret with a purse and a mini skirt really affect anyone other than himself? My point is that as it affects noone else it would ultimately be his business and it's simply not worth getting het up over.

    To be honest I wouldn't say that that is true, I'd say that people are generally fairly judgemental to be honest. I think that if someone lives a bizarre lifestyle then that is fine so long as it isn't harmful to anyone and they don't try and make anyone else feel pressured to do the same, including their own children, who should be raised with an open mind to different lifestyles and not to assume that their parents' is the only correct way to live. I would include relgious beliefs in this also

    Why are you so concerned with what men look like? If you were dating him sure, tell him what you like, but otherwise why does it matter?

    I wouldn't say that one's perception of a passing stranger really has much of an effect on one's life. I personally think that we should raise children to be more openminded about gender; I think that parents should raise their children to be aware of the traditional dichotomy (which, of course, they will be anyway since our society makes it all very obvious), but also to accept that not everyone fits so neatly into the binary system and that even people who do may choose to [contd]
