“I educate myself on these matters” 😂
Just one of his many various tasks!
Still remember one of the all-time greatest laughs on Late Night was from Mr. T doing this bit: "On the final episode of friends, it will finally be revealed... that black people really do live in New York."
I tried searching for this but couldn't find it 😂
For anyone wondering, that palace in the ad is Schloss Schonbrunn in Vienna
I thought so, too. Thanks for confirming. I was just there 5 hours ago.
The Austrians will love Jordan.
In the Year 2000 is Conan’s & R Smigel’s funniest bit ever! What happened to Labamba?
A great example for old architecture not always being brilliant.
LaBamba's "In the year 2000" jingle will forever occupy a little corner of my brain
As it should.
Sometimes when Im making food for no good reason I’ll just hum the “in the year 2000” tune.
abso.fukn.lutely.
Yeah, that along with "Max on Max", unfortnately 😅
Doing "In the Year 2000" after the year 2000 is to this day probably my favorite, funniest thing Conan did.
This is TRUE
You don't tug on Palpatine's robe, or fool around in the Outer Rim, you don't pull the mask off of old Darth Vader, and you don't mess with Qui Gon Jim...
Gravediggers?
Wow, you have to be both a Jim Croce fan AND a Star Wars fan to get that deep cut reference! Nice one! Truly appreciated
Identity theft is not a joke Qui Gon Jim!
*Nodding, Clapping Approvingly*

I still use the line “in the year 2000! … in the year 2000 dogs everywhere will celebrate the year 14000” 😂
Sona is the first person I've ever heard say we're a quarter into this century. That's a wild thing to think about. So many of us, myself included, might not live to see 2055/2065. Decades go by SO fast now.
0-10 felt like an eternity
10-20 felt like a decade
20-30 felt like 5 years
30-40 felt like a year
Yes I've heard it from a couple of places and it seem to give EVERYONE the creeps!
Mad to think about it!
@@howdareyou41 40-80 - didn't feel it at all. :(
@@howdareyou41 That's because at age 10 a year is 1/10th of your life, but at age 40 a year is a measly 1/40th of your life, and thus feels less significant to your existence.
@@Walperion_Musicnot the passing time at least.
"Robit" is how Zoidberg pronounces the word too, which makes a lot of sense since Billy West based him off of old timey actors.
It's more of a robut, but yes.
@@mediocreman2what a DAY that was
Schlansky in the ad? Best part of the episode. 😂
I was so surprised to see him there giving off his Robert Durst vibe!
Schlansky, the Schlankenator... The ShlankMeister!
On T Mobile's Dime
Best ad!
It's one of his various tasks.
"In the year 2000..." was one of my favourite old Conan bits. How do you ever forget that tune??
In fact they also just mentioned it on the 'No Dumb Questions' podcast.
I loved it when they continued the bit a few years after the year 2000 lol
My favorite was PimpBot 5000.
Anytime Conan talks about the future , all I can picture is Labamba singing “in the year 2000” in full falsetto.
Hey Jordan, it's called _BLINKING_ !!
In The Year 2000 was so amazing. What a treat when Conan introduced that segment. I remember back in the 70's I found a 1960's concept book in the school library of Cars by the year 2000 and the book was full of cars that resembled rockets with big dome glass roofs and antennas, sometimes with the owners standing next to them like a future business man and his family, and some of the cars could fly. We are close to big drone like flying vehicles, maybe by 2030's
Blade Runner took place in the dystopian future of the year 2019
"I'm a neither one guy," same, Sona. Same. 😂
Flying cars for the public would be a terrible idea. People already suck at driving in 2 dimensions (simplified). Imagine how bad they would be at driving in 3 dimensions.
I always wanted flying cars. Then I started driving in Atlanta.
Also, I don't get why people say science fiction movies and shows "promised" x and y technologies. They did whatever was necessary for their worldbuilding and plot. It is entertainment, not forecasting. Even if it was forecasting, we all know how well that works out for far simpler sub-systems like the stock market and the weather. I used to think people were jokingly exaggerating their supposed disappointment, but now I am not sure.
They will be self driving like Waymo. Imagine that!
It’d be like the traffic on Coruscant
All car accidents would 98% fatal. People flying home from the bars at a 120 MPH.
LOVED seeing Jordan!!!❤
The "Year 2000" and driving your desk with Andy were my favorite bits growing up
8:48 my grandmother never stopped saying "robot" as "robut." She died...in the year two thousand.
Did LaBamba give the eulogy?
@ Yes…and Max Weinberg and Joel Goddard were there too, and I took a bunch of pictures…and I just got them back from the fotomat a little while ago, so I thought I’d share them in a little segment I call “grandma’s funeral photos.”
"In the year 3000, babies will start listening to dance music when the GooGoo Dolls and Lady Gaga team up to create the supergroup Gaga-GooGoo"
In the year 3000, AI will get so out of hand that Canada will be forced to invent their own software to combat it. It will be called. I eh.
9:43 a hexel is a thing. It’s a hexagonal pixel. It’s used in a lot of art and looks really cool when it’s done well
Qui-Gon Jim may have been a cousin.
That's Qui-Gon Jim-Bob-a
Doing the bit post 2000 made it even better iconic
1:22 Can I just say, I miss ”in the year 2000” and if I remember correctly there also was a ”in the year 3000”!❤❤❤🇸🇪
YES! The "year 3000" bits were during the Conan "Tonight Show" era.
Considering Obi Wan went by the brilliant alias of Old Ben Kenobi, I feel like if Qui-Gon Jinn had gone into hiding he would have gone by Qui-Gon Jim.
There were a few regular first names, like Luke and Ben.
Interestingly enough, hexel and mixel are both terms in pixel art. (Not aware of any “glaxels” though)
Traditional pixels are arranged in square arrays, so pixel art normally uses square pixels. However, other regular tilings are possible too. Hexels would use hexagonal tilings
A mixel is a pixel of different size than the rest of the pixels in a piece. They’re generally best to be avoided as they can make for an inconsistent/messy design, but they can be used skillfully if done right
5:40 Conan is a Star Trek guy. This makes me happy.
"My name is Qui-Gon Jinn. Most people call me... Jim."
As 2025 proceeds....i find myself worrying about conan, and all the rich people i follow and like, the worlds changing, i hope the funny guys and gals are ready, my god all we really have is our experience, laughter, mirth and joy are the cream of human existence, we cant stand to lose it now. Please be safe, please keep being you.
My grandfather invented and patented a flying car in 1958. The Martin, Land, Sea and Air car. Its shape was used by major aeronautic companies. It flew and is at the Forney Museum in Denver
By far my favorite part of "in the year 2000" was that it kept going way after the year 2000.
Qui-Gon Jimothy 🤣
Here's a related thought: As we reach the quarter century mark, I've started to hear people talk about "the 1900's" in the same way as they would talk about "the 1800's". I think "Wait, us 1900's folks are still here, some of us are not even in wheel chairs yet!".
"In the Year 2000" was/is my favourite Late Night sketch. My partner is a big Conan fan but hadn't seen the sketch, so I recently I troduced her to them. We've watched every single one within the past week.
When I was 16 I did the math to figure out how old I'd be in the year 2000. 36. "Well... my life will basically be over by then but at least I'll see it." 🤣
Im sorry that your life has been over for so long now.
I just want to say the “Year 2000” bits are what I saw the first time I watched Conan. And they were my favorite bits and I miss them too. 😆
nah Jordan doing an ad read is so f***ing dystopian LMFAOOOOO
Same here. There was a TV program called Beyond 2000 in the 80s showcasing futuristic inventions and watching that, we all thought the same
"in the year 2000" is one of my all time favourite recurring bits on conan. such a goddamn classic.
8:22 "by 1948" I absolutely love Conans old timey voice
What a spectacular piece of the show was this!
QUI-GON JIM?
WTF COCO!!?! 🤣
honestly think it was just a linguistic slip and then he/they just went with it. you okay?..
5:17 but raygun did happen and her breakdancing is not of this planet
👏 bravo sir 👏
Adam’s face when Bley started talking is equivalent to Harrison Ford telling Bley to “shut the eff up” 😂
I remember In the Year 2000 from the nineties…and the fact that Late Night KEPT it as In the Year 2000 even after the year 2000 HAPPENED became probably my favorite thing about the show
This and Triumph were my favorite Conan gags. I still reference it sometimes. Thanks, Conan!
09:38 Although there are no "Hexels" there is such a thing like a Voxel.
Which, like the pixel, is a building block for graphics, but not in 2D but rather in 3D space.
Hexels are hexagonal units in a hex-based painting program such as Marmoset's Hexels 3 application. If nothing else, Conan knows software!
Left a separate comment, but “mixels” are a thing too! It’s when the size of pixels is inconsistent in a piece of pixel art. They’re generally seen as a poor design choice since they can be pretty messy and lead to an inconsistent design, but they can be used skillfully as well in a sort of “breaking the rules” kind of way
4:00 - Oh Jesus when you thought Shlanskly couldn't look MORE creepy and eerie, he defocuses his eyes to read to look slightly OFF camera!
Whenever I want to creep out my friends I once discovered a similar creepy look: when you're talking to a person, deliberately look not into their eyes, but slightly defocuse your eyes to look slightly OFF his/her eyes. Or another version - look PAST their head, like their head is transparent and you're looking at the horizon throgh their head. That gives people a little subtle uncanny-valley sort of creeps.
But here Shlansky does that trick NOT intentionally.
"Meet my eyeline, Jim!"
6:50 No Qui-Gon Jim … but there is a guy called Luke 🤷♂️
8:40 its like zoidberg
Whoop whoop whoop
@ my doctorate is in art history
I’m so glad Conan brought up the way they pronounced robot back then. I love the old-timey pronunciation: “row-butt.” 😂 🤖
It is also how we will pronounce that world in the future, according to Futurama and Dr. Zoidberg!
In The Year 2000 was/is one of my favorite recurring sketches on any show ever.
The ad was on par with the show 😂❤
👋 ❤! Love you Conan and friends
I've been missing Jordan for quite some time- thankfully he's BACK ❤❤❤❤
I loved the “In The Year 2000” bits!
Matt really nails it with a retort to Conan’s rap about his impending death about “not wanting to die with you.” As to the other of Conan’s lofty pronouncements, about “accelerating into the future,” I instead feel like I’m being dragged.
There was an episode of Our Gang / Little Rascals where they made a Mechanical Turk style robot and referred to it as "row-boat".
Committing to the bit after 2000 was the best part
7:11 "So George Lucas just said we need a device. I just took this from my wife's shower." -Conan either implying George Lucas is so rich he and his wife have separate showers or that they're separated but he still has access to his wife's shower
I just love that I finally encountered someone talking about Qui-Gon’s gadget being a woman’s shower razor. My mom had one in our shower, and I was always fascinated by the shape of it, picturing it as a spaceship or speeder like something you’d see in Star Wars or whatever. So when I saw that thing in Phantom Menace, I immediately recognized it, but I’ve never heard anyone else ever call it out.
In The Year 2000 was such a classic bit, damn time flies
Loved the “Year 2000” bit 😅.
You guys putting those stupid things on your heads and doing "In The Year 2000" Post-2000 was, by far, my favorite skits. So funny on so many levels.
The one great thing about podcasts, you tube, tic toc, is you can sit in with these halarious people and go from half empty to half full.
I love these so much
2:40 You "didn't deal with it"?
You dealt with it in the best way possible! 😂
Lmao that T-Mobile promo😂 ahh Golden. Best I've seen
My favorite Star Wars Character: Qui-gon Jim
who knew a 'dynamic ad insertion' with jordan schlansky on it will not only make me watch the ad but also rewind to the ad to watch it again.
Conan is spot on with life acceleration. Please reply to prove you haven't already died!!
Best ad yet! 😂
Jordan and Blay! Great ad!
I love how it’s so obvious the t mobile ads are the guys responding to recordings of whoever’s on the screen 😂
4:36 if anyone is wondering about the “real specific” country Bley and Jordan are in, they’re at Shönbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria!
I loved how the Year 2000 just kept going. It made it even funnier. And it plays in my head rent free still today.
I like the way your hair is going. Really natural attractive and not phony
I'm glad I didn't skip the ad
Space 1999 was crazy af
9:22 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
We all love your show. 2025 is a new start with great energy for us all. ❤
In Star Trek they had communicators (flip phone) and universal translators. In Back to the Future the future was 2015.
The most hilarious thing was that they also had the PADDs, which are basically tablet computers, except they would use them like actual physical notebooks. Like Captain Picard would be going through all his paperwork and there would be like a stack of 20 PADDs on his desk LMAO!!! Why would you need any more than just one?
i heard Qui Gon Jim is asian, but hats off to Conan for not seeing race ! 😉
Neil deGrasse Tyson's says that we do in fact have flying cars, they are called helicopters.
Schlansky!! Yes.. conan's pitch man! we need more of him.
i used to love watching Space 1999 on Saturday mornings as a kid.
Ever drive in the Boston area? Ground level travel is terrifying. (Tricorder- 1- Gather, 2- process, 3- store information)
Juan Gon Jim LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Best ad yet.
I remember the 'year 2000' bits :D
Whoa a Bley & Schlansky ad? I can get behind that
Nice ad segment guys XD
Shout out to Vienna! Wondering what you filmed there, or if they just went on vacation
"They dont have norrmal names in Star Wars" Say hi to Ben and Luke for me.
You mean Mr Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi? I know at least 5 Skywalkers and my 5th and 8th grade teacher was named Obi Wan.
Say hello to JarJar Binks ... I think proves your point better. You’re welcome.
@@chemoboy-dannypheleps9234other countries exist
Qui-Gon Jim is definitely Jim Belushi. Not a character played by Jim Belushi, just Jim Belushi hanging out in the Star Wars universe.
I remember being a kid in the late 70s/early 80s and seeing old cartoons using the "by 1980" line. Close but way off. Still funny though. I also love any Mystery Science Theater short about "the future."
Glad to see they were able to find time in Jordan's busy schedule of preparing his body in various ways
Keeping the Year 2000 bit going after the year 2000 was one of my favorite things ever. Made no sense, was completely ridiculous, and endlessly funny.
I loved the year 2000 skits
I love the year 200 skits, they made it 3000 at the end
"In the Year 2,000" is one of my all-time favorite recurring bits. That, and Pimpbot 5,000
