  • Here's the 1/60 scale Mazinger Z Infinity Ver. This giant kit looks awesome with all those details and the LED gimmick, but due to its size and simple construction it can't do all that much. Still, it's pretty awesome!

    Also, I thought it's just panel lines but as we look closer, there's actually details underneath the lines. That's very nice!
    Hopefully if Bandai decides to release a PG version of this, they'd utilize those spaces. I reckon it'll be sick looking painted and all.

    Mazinger Z is a giant robot, so 1/60 scale for this is all right. If its was a Mega Size it will be about 3 1/2 feet tall.

    • @budgiecat2885
      @budgiecat2885 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mazinger Z (Infinty) is 82 feet or 25 meters tall.
      Original Mazinger Z (1972) was 18 meters tall (20 meters at the end of Great Mazinger (1974).
      My issue is them using 1/60 scale. Should have been 1/64 scale imo this way you could use it in conjuction with proper 1/64 scale diaromas and train model kit accessories/buildings etc
      And the Pilder and figure seat is not accurate size.
      That definitely looks more like 1/144 scale than 1/60 scale.
      I find thats the case a lot with Mazinger model designs. I have a Kaiyodo Mazinger Z soft vinyl model thats 19 inches,so it "should be 1/64 scale, but like this, the Pilder on that is not true to scale either because theres no way a 1 inch 1/64 scale pilot could fit in mine. So instead, it looks more like 1/87 scale, making the dimensions scale for it to be closer to 47 meters not 18 meters.
      They tend to design the Pilder On too small in comparison to Mazinger Z's head.
      Some models do it accurately though like the 12" Mazinger Z Light up figure.
      Its Pilder on is bigger in comparison to the head than this one and the others are.
      I suppose aesthetically it 'look's nicer to make the Pilder On smaller in scale than it should be but it throws the scale accuracy completely off. It makes it look like Mazinger should be closer to 43 to 50 meters tall rather than 18 to 25 meters tall

    now i want a 1/60 Grendizer!

    • @budgiecat2885
      @budgiecat2885 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But there was no Grendizer Infinity unless you mean OG Grendizer, so if so, it'd be 30 meters. So if scaled to 1/60, would put it 5 meters taller than Mazinger Z Infinity who is 25 meters, which, at 1/60 in this model, is scaled to 423mm (16.6") tall , when in the OG trilogy, Mazinger Z was 18 meters.

      @arx3516 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@budgiecat2885 the Mazinger Z from tge Infinity movie was never stated to be bigger than regular Z, 18 meters.

    • @budgiecat2885
      @budgiecat2885 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arx3516 Mazinger Z Infinity is 25 meters tall stated in other sources outside the movie
      mazinger.fandom.com/wiki/Mazinger_Z_(Infinity)
      However, even if we say Mazinger Z Infinity retains its original 1972 Mazinger 18 meter height (which going off the anime I highly doubt because he didnt look that much shorter than the other mechs) Its still proportion wise though too small for a 5' 8" to 6' person based on how small the dimensions of its Pilder On is though.
      Imo, Mazinger Z Infinity should be closer to 45 meters in all actuality (and Great Mazinger then being 50 meters) unless you make Mazinger's head and Pilder on bigger like the Secret Base Mazinger Z. Go check that figure out. Its head and Pilder On is big. Closer to anime dimensions. Only its legs are kinda stubby.
      Its hard a lot of times to trust anime size proportions actually because a lot of times, anime, especially in the 0's and early 80's, was inconsistent with its scaling.
      Take for instance Daitarn 3 anime; that mecha is supposed to be 120 meters but at times he seemed more like 60 meters.
      Same with Danguard Ace who's supposed to be 200 meters. Sometimes they looked huge, sometimes not so much.
      Hell, even now we see anime and movies inconsistent with scaling. Godzilla vs Kong 2021 is guilty of that.
      And there was a D'Agastino magazine model 1954 Godzilla R/C kit that stated to be 1/87 scale (HO scale with a human being 20mm) at 24 inches tall, but even that is off because Godzilla 1954 is 50 meters 50 meters at 1/87 scale is not 24 inches, rather then; that Godzilla kit is 00 scale which is 1/76 (24mm tall human). So as you can see even other model kits are off scale...
      Even the Gundam kits that claim 1/144 scale are off because a lot of them tend to put themselves with the N scale but N scale is not 1/144; its 1/160. 1/160 human would be 11mm tall so a 1/144 would be a little over 12mm tall. So they figure its a 'close enough' proximation.
      heres a size chart:
      www.danbecker.info/minis/miniother/ScaleComparison.html
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scale_model_sizes
      Even the most expensive 75cm tall Mazinger Z model by Hachettec (which comes with the construction base) is said its head proportions were to be modified different from the anime so that it is more aesthetically pleasing. The creator of that model even explained as such in his promotion video on TH-cam; that he chose to make the head a compromise of the anime design vs a more modern aesthetically pleasing design as most Mazinger kits have been, Aka somewhere in between the two.
      But even when you look at the figures that come with that model vs its Pilder On that stand on the construction platforms of the Mazinger base; given their proportions to the MazInger model itself, it looks way too tall to be 25 meters (Mazinger Z Infinity) let alone 20 (end of Great Mazinger series) or 18 meters (OG Mazinger Z).
      If I was being super liberal with my estimate, I'd say its closer to 33 to 38 meters scale wise; but realistically that 75cm Mazinger model represents 40 meters based on its Pilder On and figure proportions to the Mazinger itself.
      The figures look to be about 55 mm (5 1/2 cm) which is about I scale.
      In fact, aside from that Secretbase Mazinger, which has a larger head and much larger Pilder On (but even that is still too tall scale wise really), the only way imo for a proper Mazinger to realistically BE 18 to 25 meters tall with a proportional Pilder On and pilot, is if said Mazinger was a super deformed model like you see in the Super Robot Wars games.
      For Gundam its okay because the pilot sits in the chest; same for Aura Battler Dunbine.
      But the head and Pilder On proportions shown for Mazinger Z always tend to make his head too small to justify it being 18 to 25 meters in height.
      By its dimensions, like I said, it really should be somewhere between 38 to 40 meters in height; 45 meters for Mazinger Z Infinity.
      Thats why this "1/60" Mazinger Z Infinity's Pilder On and pilot look more like its suited for 1/144 scale not 1/60 scale.
      In S Scale, (1/64 which is Hot Wheels), a human is 28mm which is just a little over an inch, so in 1/60 scale, they would be slightly taller than that; probably 30mm . So do you really think a human figure thas 30mm could fit inside this supposed '1/60' scale Mazinger Z Infinity? Absolutely not.unless they make the Pilder on and Mazinger head bigger, which would then throw off its aesthetic proportions so you'd have to then make the entire Mazinger bigger to truly say its "1/60" and even then he would no longer be proportioned to 25 meters; he'd be proportioned to 45 meters as I said unless you make him look super deformed.

    REALLY nice kit. I do find it funny tho, that this has the normal Pilder instead of the Jet Pilder as it is supposed to be an "upgraded" Z.
    That said, if you had a 1/60 scale Gundam, it would've been nice to see it beside Z, as the specs of Mazinger state that he's 18 meters tall (unless they changed that for that movie), which is similar to the height of many Gundams.

      @@RicardoPerez-ff3vm I do. A 1/64 scale person for example is a little over 1" tall (1.1") if theyre 6' human, so a a 1/60 scale human would be taller than that. 1/64 is Hot Wheels car size / American Flyer train size for example. While the Pilder is indeed a one man hover glider, its not that small. Even in this video at 4:09 the uploader specifically states in his opinion that it definitely does not look 1/60 scale, if anything, closer to 1/144 or `1/100 scale which is indeed closer to reality.
      For some reason with Mazinger models, I notice a common discrepancy with accurately scaling the Pilder On and pilot in proportion to the actual body of the Mazingers.
      Mazinger Z was supposed to be 18 meters tall in the original anime and manga, and 25 meters tall in Mazinger Z Infinity.
      But the size difference of the two doesnt matter. The point is in both, the Pilder on in comparison to the height of both of those Mazingers and many Mazinger Z models, always seemed too small to house an adult human with the proportions given to the height of the robots.
      In other words, either the Pilder On of the Mazingers should be way bigger or the height of the Mazinger itself should be way taller than 18/20 or 25 meters. In all actuality, if you go by the proportions of these model kits' Pilder Ons, the Mazinger Z should be around 47 meters tall if you look at its overall proportions by the various model kits.
      In the anime however, the Pilder On is bigger proportioned. For some reason though, the modelers dont like to make the Pilder On accurate size.
      I have a 19 inch Kaiyodo Mazinger Z soft vinyl model. I first I assumed it was 1/64 scale by its height vs its anime dimensions, but when I look at the dimensions of its Pilder On, it looks more like 1/87 scale which is the HO train scale model for figurines which is comparable to the height of a 25 cent coin; a little over 2 cm.
      There was no way a 1/64 scale figure could fit in its Pilder On at over 1" tall.
      If then for 1/87 scale/HO scale, we say that 2cm is scale equivalent to 2 meters (about a 6' tall man), this would then put my Mazinger Z Kaiyodo model at a proportionate height of well over its intended 18 meters at around 47 meters, which would be taller than say Toshio Daimos, who towers at around 45 meters tall. Completely inaccurate.
      And so the same goes for this Mazinger Z Infinity at its proposed "1/60th" scale". There is no way that Pilder on and pilot height is equivalent to 1/60th scale as the video explained.
      It looks like the Pilder On is 1/144 scale, which then throws off the proposed "1/60" scale it claims to be since Mazinger Z Infinity is supposed to be 25 meters tall.
