The moment you switch it's too late. I've got it set but I wish they had the words ' reverse thrust' In audio events as a choice. I went to grab flaps and did the sAme damn thing. I moved it to a 3 position shorter switch and so far so good.
This is one T-28 I don’t have. It’s big but not too big if that makes any sense. And the yellow is better than the Eflite yellow. Great video and camera crew is the best as always.
Heart stopping, heart breaking moment there, Brian. Good job keeping the vocab G rated! No chance I'd go through all of that without weaving a sailor-blushing profanity web of colorful metaphors 😂 Great video, though. Love that T28! Excellent repair tips (unfortunately) too 👍
I did the same crash for the same reason with my TTE.… I moved reverse thrust to a shorter three position switch, shorter than my flap switch and set it on the third position… So far so good Thanks Brian for everything you guys do! You guys are over the top !
Feel better soon. Sorry about the crash. I had a brain fart with a switch before too. A true Bart Simpson "D'OH!" moment for me. Great down and dirty DIY repair tutorial. Thanks for showing "light weight spackle." I wasn't sure if it was actually drywall spackle. Or some kind of Hobby suff. And prop balancing was good to see too. Love your Channel. Love you guys. Cheers my friends!
Don't know about anyone else, like you, I'm blessed! I walk out of my garage put the plane down and fly. When I crash no one sees it 😏. I don't think I could handle the rules at a club field. T-28, gotta love it. It's nice to see your brain at work 👍.
Got some new 3S 500mah batteries for my homemade UMX Timber X and I guess I didn't solder the xt60 on properly so on my first flight I lost all power and it floated right down into the tallest 60 - 70ft tree around!!! Took me 4 days to get it down and my brand new battery is toast 🤦 At least I got my plane back 🤷 lol Glad the T28 survived, it took it pretty dang well, I'm really surprised 😳 lol Awesome plane Brian 👍🏻
My UMX TimberX is my 1st plane. Got it a couple months ago. Just put the float set on this morning. Can't wait to get to the lake this weekend and get her damp 😂 I've found that mine flies great on 3s 800mAh - which seemed ridiculous before I tried it. Had to fiddle with placement for CG. But it's awesome! 20 mins in the air. Happy flying 👍
@@AL-RCjunkie Cool, hope ya have a great time at the lake, those floats are going to be a blast, Yeah I kinda wish I would've got 800mah batteries also, with the 500mah I put it as far forward as possible and it still felt a bit tail heavy so I moved my esc forward and that made the CG perfect, I get around 15min flights so I'm pretty satisfied. Happy flying to you as well 👍🏻✌🏻
@@EJ-74 Moved that tiny ESC?!? Dang! That's like wizard level modding on a UMX! Lol. I'm super stoked. Float tested in the bath tub. She floats like a champ.
@@AL-RCjunkie Nah it's not a stock esc it's a 30amp, it's all I had at the time lol but it ended up working out great, it has great punch and never gets hot, I can run 3 batteries through it back to back and it barely gets warm! Glad your floats are working well.. 👍🏻
Nice Plane, always enjoy watishing your viedeos! A vew days ago I watched your viedeos about the Habu SS 50mm and I loved it so much and now i got it (from your Links of course) and it is so much fun, thank you for reviewing. Gretings to your cats, so cute.
With the new firmware updates to the NX8 and NX10 transmitters, is there a way to set reverse thrust so that it is only active when the gear is down and the landing flaps have been lowered through mix settings, flight modes, or logical switches? Great video as always....thank you!
If you have never tried to fly and don't understand exactly what each control stick does etc I'd recommend getting a flight simulator, it will teach you how to fly without destroying your first couple of planes and save you a lot of $$$$ and a lot of headaches lol but if you understand the control sticks and have a flight field nearby most of the time someone there will help you get started, You can buy a ready to fly 1.1m AeroScout for a little over $200, it comes with a decent radio and great spectrum smart battery unlike most other ready to fly models but you will want to buy a couple extra batteries lol and a decent battery charger, the charger it comes with takes around 4hrs to charge 1 battery but so does all other ready to fly models lol, In my opinion and many others will agree it is definitely the best trainer for it's size quality and price!!! That's how I got started about 3yrs ago except I didn't have anybody to teach me so I taught myself and I still have my first AeroScout although it looks like crap from crashing into trees power lines etc etc etc lol but it's easy to fix, a bit of hot glue packing tape and it still flies like new, actually better because I've modified it a bit with a 50amp esc a more aggressive prop and set all the control surfaces to full throws but I don't suggest doing any of that till you learn to fly it well stock... Hope this helps, Feel free to ask any questions, I don't mind helping anybody that wants to get into the hobby, I love it and fly every chance I get, I have a couple battery's charging right now as a matter of fact 😂✌🏻
What would you say is the best flying, best value, most features mid size Trojan out there? Nothing 800mm or smaller so between the 1.1, 1.2 EFlite and Arrows or 1.4 FMS or maybe even the one from HobbyZone or Banana Hobby? With SO many to choose from and livery getting no preference, what do you think offers the most features, quality and if you could only choose one, which one would you get if you had to pay the asking price, excluding the Carbon 2.0 just for the high cost and the size is too large for transport? I'm assuming you're gonna say the HH 1.2 or the FMS 1.4?
bprc.me/T28 - 1.2m - best bang for the buck, and no compromises. Carbon Z T-28 would be amazing, but most don't have room, so if you have budget and room, the Carbon Z, but if you're wanting the "Best Value" I'd get the 1.2m
Hey Brian, I love the videos, they are super helpful and informative. I have a question. I'm looking at getting this plane. But I can't decide between the E-Flite version or the FMS. Could you weigh in on this? Which one is better? I'd be getting the E-Flite 1.2, or the FMS 1.4. Thanks!
You need a recovery pole Brian! My videos are FULL of them! Seeing your raspberry bushes gave me flashbacks of my most recent "nature adventure!" Good on ya for getting it out! Team Phiilps does it again! NIIIIIIIIIIIICE! 😁👍
I got 6S to fit and work on mine, flew amazing on 6S too!. Also, the motor mount on mine was loose like that out of the box. It never caused any issue so I never bothered to fix it and the plane flew beautiful! I didn't have the yellow version but this smaller FMS version looks a lot nicer than the E-Flite CZ yellow version. I wish FMS would make a larger version of this plane! Sorry to see you crash but easy fixes. You should fit the four blade from the FMS 1500mm P-47D, fits perfectly with no modifications and works very well.
But the 660kv motor isn't rated for 6s. I tried it on 6s and the motor got extremely hot and pulled 150A. I'm swapping out the motor for the P47 motor which is 6s rated. Can I ask why you prefer the 4 blade from the P47? It's less efficient. Was the T33 gear a straight swap?
I've used it years ago, and was never impressed. Maybe it was a bad bottle? I might not have known how to use it at the time too, but anyway, CHINA GLUES are all pretty dang close anyway...MUCILAGE type rubber cements are what I like for most of my glue joints where CA doesn't work well.
1st crash I've had in 20 years was because I reached to shut off the mix and shut off the motor instead. Two days later my 1/4 scale BUSA Spad XIII was back in the air and I had moved the mix switch away from the throttle cut. I know how you feel for sure.
I woulda removed the motor and JB Weld or Epoxy that engine mount firewall instead cause that big 3 bladed propeller puts alot of stress on the motor mount area all the time.
That is a pretty bird for sure.. but that behemoth next to it still makes me drool.. I want one Soooo bad.. whenever I get T-28 in the 2 meter size withdrawals.. I just load up your video and some popcorn.. 😂
Gee's you got lucky there Brian wispy bushes breaking your fall, like when Peter rabbit gets thrown into the briar patch by the farmer,l. Lucky son of a biscuit 😅
Next time you need to take from gear out, take the servo arm off servo and you can remove the whole assembly. Live and learn, my dad would say. The motor has to be in a certain angle, so it might pull or turn over on takeoff worse than usual.. look good to me.👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Love your videos Brian & Camera Crew! As an aside, I would be tempted to take a chainsaw to that 'one tall tree'. Again, you and camera crew are exceptional!
I wouldn't think it would be as good. Still better to shave down weight, admittedly...since the CA CAN technically de-laminate, but when it super thin like this, it usually becomes "one with the prop" ;)
Brian, just when we thought you were super-human, you crash just like us mere mortals. 🙂 Glad you were able to retrieve it in one piece. I've crashed one of my T-28's so that the fuselage was in two separate pieces. Glued it back together with foam-tac and enjoyed multiple successful flights . . . . . until I eventually did it all over again. 🙂
Your so much more fun to watch than watching the news. How about that? Thank you for showing us that you are human. Thank you for this lesson. Like the hole in the fuselage looks like was in a battle.
Love watching your vids, the T28 1400 looks awesome!!!
Thanks!
It's always a good idea to set up audio events for the different switches so that you hear if reverse thrust is being enabled by mistake.
The moment you switch it's too late. I've got it set but I wish they had the words ' reverse thrust' In audio events as a choice.

You make flying look easy, I'm curious as to what steps you took over time to learn.

What a flight, and a good recovery, to say back in the air.

Another good little upgrade for these is swapping out the nose gear strut with one from the Freewing T-33 Shooting Star. Works heaps better!

now we know what happens in air thrust reverse, great video

Thats a really sweet plane. Are you gona try some FPV? Thanks for all your help my friend.
Can't believe that this plane comes with suspension landing gear and the carbon z T 28 still has wire landing gear. 😳
Do you not like the knife edge manoeuvre?
With all that property why don't you replant that one tree at the end of the runway?
amazing!
I woulda removed the motor and JB Weld or Epoxy that engine mount firewall instead cause that big 3 bladed propeller puts alot of stress on the motor mount area all the time.

Suggestion only: This is just me! I would taken the retract completely out and bent it straight in a vise.
yes, this would have been easier, but hind sight is 20/20 ;)

Trojan man.... Eagle killing zone... now is a Broken Trojan zone..
So sad
another great shortie,lol 2hrs 8mins
1:27 you said 3200 4s, I assume you meant 6s?
No this is actually a 4S ;) Pretty surprising given the size and performance of this beauty!!!
I also assumed 6s, really amazing flight on 4s!
that happpened to me once with an EFlite Untimate I was lucky not much damage. I had no idea till later it happened.
Ouch.
Sold out! 😢
Gee's you got lucky there Brian wispy bushes breaking your fall, like when Peter rabbit gets thrown into the briar patch by the farmer,l. Lucky son of a biscuit 😅
the brush is terrible for an RC plane, but I had to climb a tree 10 meters high to get my conscendo back. at 58, that's not easy.

LoLz Nature hikes are common occurrence on this channel, the only problem I see is you’re not dressed for the occasion, bud 😅
Interesting adding weight instead of shaving weight on the prop, wonder if this would work on a Rc boat prop, great content by the way ⚡️🫡
