My neighbor had one made by D'Angelico (New Yorker model) in the 50s sometime and when I would see it I thought "that's not cool" back in the late 60s. (Jimmy Page does not play it!) Now more than 50yrs later I have an appreciation for that guitar and body of work that Mel Bay did back in those days. I may now get to own something similar!
Lovely guitar - the SD P90's & Ebony Fretboard a class act. Nice playing, too! 😀I would go 'clean' with this one, nice rich acoustic tones. I put Lollar P90's / 50's wiring, bone nut into my Epi Casino and this seems to be in the same ballpark . . .
Beautiful guitar, and sounds great. I'm a little surprised about the level of hum. I expected some, but not that much. I do wish they had the option of a vibrato tailpiece on more models and colors. They have it on the 59 but only in "Black Dog", which I'm not a fan of.
The Rock sweet spot with Hollowbodies is get them as close as the feedback zone, slightly back it off, an Man you have not lived til you have felt the body vibrating, it is like the Guitar is a LIVE BEAST just Smokin. This would be a great Rockabilly Guitar/Jazz. Or do the EDGE of Vibrating for sure. Used to love playing hollows back in the 70's. And they at lower volumes sound so WOODY for sure, Semi hollow can come close but not like the Fully Hollow can. Think Ted Nugent Amboy Dukes and Journey to the Center of the Mind. GREAT DEMO!!! as all yours seem to be.
Now I'm really confused(semi beginner) I have in my hands, a smooth feeling SG faded(my only ) And i was thinking that the only guitar that want to try next is a Tele And now that Excell 59??? It's hollow , is jazzy, has p90s, is bluezy Some say grab both No One by one, step boy step I have to understand why I want another one guitar
This guitar is a huge step above any Casino I've played. And I say that with all due respect as a Casino fan. It's also a little different - its jazzier in many respects. Whatever that means.

The sound of that thing in the intro was truly mind-bottling. You know, like it puts your mind in a bottle...

The 59 is really beautiful and the P-90 are goodsounding. - Interesting combination with the Keeley Monterrey.
That is one D'Ang nice guitar! Great demo. Gives the Casino a run for its money, perhaps.
I have a few D’Angelico guitars. Might just add one more! Thanks forvthe review!
Beautiful looking, beautiful sounding. I want one 😍
So tempted..

What a fantastic video have a wonderful day Jack 😊 also my thumb is feeling better
Hi, Jack. Can you confirm if the block under the bridge makes contact with the back of the guitar or not? Thanks. 🎸
Fully hollow, but with a tune-o-matic bridge? Must be a bit of a block that the bridge is anchored into?
I'd think there would have to be a block under it.
Those P 90s also sound very good clean. Just the right amount of bite & body, would prefer this for jazz over A humbucker. Beautiful Guitar

No
One by one, step boy step
I have to understand why I want another one guitar
I had a D'angelico jazzbox and was phenomenal. I wanted one of these models you have here but ended up getting a Heritage H530.
Comparisons thoughts with respect to the Casino?

@@JackFossett I get/can hear what you mean. Thanks for the reply - I value your opinion. Keep up the great work/videos.
Jack, What is the difference between this Deluxe 59 and the regular 59?
Well?
