Honestly, for the $200 spent on it, especially compared to all the other ships, while nothing should be Pay-to-Win strong, it better be, and stay, viable for the investment.
It feels like every wave that comes out is made to counter the SSD more and more. Huge ships need some love. The SSD needs a point reduction. Lost our pass token. Can't take point defense ion cannons.
Just because of the Lore, the SSD should be a super ship to use in Armada and if its a little bit broken, it should stay like that, because is a SSD the most powerfull ship in the original trilogy.
Huge Ship rules buff: 3 pass tokens inherent to ship. Can spend a pass token to recover a defense token during end phase. Can equip up to 2 modifications. Give it an ignition attack. Annihilator title allows you to spend confire dial to add 1 die to all squadron attacks from a hullzone + old effect Eclipse gives you 1 yaw tick at speed 2. Change the way objectives work. Have Legion style objectives so that objectives are what define the win over points destroyed.
SSDs are cool, but in my recent listbuilding with them I've actually been trying a "less is more" approach , and my Command Prototype comes out to 274, leaving me room for a Hand of Justice Arquitens to refresh tokens, a Gozanti with Repair Crews, and then Valen Rudor and Ciena Ree. The SSD uses salvo through Local Fire Control and runs pretty barebones, but it's something I'm interested in trying.
I loved the video on the SSD in the tournament in which I think Republic squadrons did a lot of damage on the SSD - feels very thematic - I wonder how the SSD does against swarms particular bombers...obviously difficult to keep a carrier safe from the SSD's reach
I just ran a pair of starhawls this weekend(see pics on reddit) vs. A mar tuul fleet. The Hawks are beastly. I would rather travel a pair of them than a SSD in a competitivesituation, but the SSD is the sexiest model in the game so yeah. Great build thpugh. I am going to try something inspired by this my next game
Find it ironic that after the honesty game breaking dynamics of the onager and starhawk not to mention the $$$ 1.5 decided to nerf the SSD. Kinda a punch in the nuts.
I think you're sleeping on Sloane as an SSD commander. There are other ways of gaining yaw, and it gets to activate six squadrons a round. Enemy ships don't last long against an SSD after your squadrons strip their defense tokens.
It better still be viable for the expenditure. But I don't get enough playtime for this game anyway. They need to give 'em back the 3 shot gunnery team.
How much value are you getting out of XI7s if you also have Heavy Ion Emplacements? You might be better off getting the HTT or just something that boosts damage potential a bit more. One fun SSD concept I have that I haven't tested that I don't expect to be great but at least fun and have usage is to use the SSD as a shield for Arquitens or an Onager with Romadi on them. Another way I've implemented the SSD is sort of similar to yours but replace Jerjerrod and tactical experts with an Executor revolving door of commands with Yularen, Piett, and Beck all playing funny things while having a launch bay full with 2 TIE Bombers, 2 TIE Phantoms, and Boba Fett to go bomb the hell outta any ship that gets too close.

The SSD will always look cool no matter the stats.

One ship, over 300 points! What a hell. Thats nuts, I love it, wish one day I can buy one.
I just got into Armada after years of playing Xwing. Your videos have been such a huge help in learning everything about the game.

I love how this ship looks, haven't ran one yet.

My favourite combo is Piett, Wulf Yalaren and Executor.
You will have all the tokens you want and be able to pull two dial commands every turn.
Is this still a build you recommend over any other build for the SSD? I just got one yesterday.
It's going to be tough to drive home a win at the minute, but this is a good list against squadron lite fleets
Nice build! Can’t wait to see it in action!
The SSD looks great but, yes, it seems like a lot of the newer ships are designed to counter the SSD (or low-count ship builds).
Find it ironic that after the honesty game breaking dynamics of the onager and starhawk not to mention the $$$ 1.5 decided to nerf the SSD. Kinda a punch in the nuts.
The SSD is an awesome miniature, bu a cumbersome ship to play IMHO.

Possibly. I like her on a Quasar so much more though.
Interesting that you think that the SSD doesn't often die, mine always dies. Anyway, I love the build, and will be experimenting with it soon.
Well if you concentrate fire on a ship that can well have five critical hits and is slow, it is basicly a sitting half dead duck.

I wanna see SSD batrep!!
SSD is the best, most coolest, amazing, best looking.... Target XD
Strong SSD build.
Interesting stuff
Still an epic ship
SSD is still and SSD
Remove the half point rule.
I have yet to use my ssd

Honestly I got a TON of use out of it. Especially with the long range shots
So SSD is not worth the money
It never was, only worth it if you like it on a shelf.
