Masterpiece that's been really cared for. Fantastic condition and no doubt restored correctly. I can't remember the last step side F100 that I've seen, it's been decades.
That is amazing! 👍😎 My dad's 1979 K5 Blazer (my brother owns it now) is just about the same. It's been in the family since new, never had an accident and has the original small block 350 in it with the 4 barrel Rochester carb. It's a time capsule as well. Very nice Ford! Thank you for sharing, Richard and thank you to this gentleman for showing it to us.
I have a 1991 F-250, and my story very much parallels this one. First brand new vehicle, 640k miles, got me through most of my career. Mine hasn't had the cosmetic restoration that this truck has seen, but my truck has undoubtedly had a lot more mechanical work to get it that far down the road. It's great to see other high-mileage truck owners out there! 🤠
@morewhattherust It has a 460, which are typically bulletproof. It's been through a number of transmissions, though. That's really their weak point, when compared to the previous generations. Otherwise, they are basically the same drive trains modernized with the first generation of fuel injection, which was fairly simple and reliable. Overall, it has been a good truck, and it will still give most modern trucks hell off of the stop lights. 🤠
Excellent video Richard :) my one school friend Father has 1979 Ford F100 Custom in purple also has step side with West Coast mirrors Ford and had 300 in line 6 , 4 speed Overdrive Automatic transmission with 377 rear plus step side box too and so pretty too ! The owner bought new too and only drive April to October stored inside in Winter Season months!
@@morewhattherust I don’t know why anybody would ever collect them or restore them. I had a brand new 1980 f100 and the frame was like Swiss cheese. It had all these holes manufactured into the sides of the frame. I assume they were put there to lighten the truck for federal mandates. The pickup was equipped with the 300 cubic inch straight six with a three speed overdrive transmission and the nine inch Ford rear axle with a ratio of 2.75. I will say however that I could get twenty miles to the gallon with that truck. Of course the speed limit then was 55 mph.

That truck is incredible. Just a beautiful truck. Those 6 cylinders you can’t beat them.
This is a testament to vehicle maintenance and classic 70 Ford truck lines. You can tell the man loves to be in the truck and drive it.
It's done nearly as many miles as my 88 Ford Transit. Thanks for sharing Richard!
That was probably his best business investment ever. It goes to show how looking after a vehicle (when you definitely can't buy another) can pay off.
Right on.
I love the color of that truck too Richard
I don't often say this about old trucks... but this one is beautiful......maybe the color sets that mood for me....what a gem!
Such a humble man, wonderful story…. That’s when you still had the opportunity of the American dream.. Thanks for that Richard!❤
He is the American dream personified. Quite a guy, and I am fortunate to have met him.
@@morewhattherust we still see the proof around… and with a bit of luck it might get back to normal one day..
Nice truck!!! Nothing beats those old Fords. Thanks for sharing.
Wow that Truck was well taking care. It is nice to see someone who is handing down a piece of history!! Thanks Richard!!
You're welcome Kat. The owner is quite a guy and takes very good care of the truck. He has restored many parts of it, but still uses it every day,
That thing looks almost like it did when new. He's really taken good care of it.

Nice truck, love the color. Those 300's were a high mileage engine.
There is a reason their moto was “ Like a Rock “. It’s a beautiful piece. Thanks Richard and Christine 👍👍🇨🇦

640K! That is amazing. I did not think the 90s Fords were that reliable.

Thats a super nice truck inside and out great video thanks for sharing this Richard
You're welcome Dale.Glad you liked it.
Nice
I had a 79 step side
I had a four-wheel drive one that was the same color that was stepside and like a fool I sold it I wish I still had it
I've been there. So many sold vehicles I wished I had back.
That's a garage truck forsure
The 1973 to 1979 ford trucks were good vehicles as were the years prior. From 1980 up they are junk.
I agree. The drop in quality in 1980 was obvious.
