Fixing a slow tire leak with a Tireject kit. (Hopefully)

- I'll do a follow up on this, but having used tireject before, I expect it to work perfectly.
The kit was $22.99 and the tool was $7.18.
The tool is handy, but I could have just used an old valve stem, and one of the cap style removers for free.

I have a gallon of TireJect. I have filled many ATV tires with it. My setup uses a syringe that screws on the valve stem. I lost my cap/tool that came with the syringe. I bought a Milton tool from the parts store last week and four pack of metal valve stem caps that have the cap built in. If they would have had a box of one hundred I would have bought it and sprinkled them around the yard where I work on stuff. I caught the bumper sticker cliche at the end there except you probably don’t ruin your testimony by flipping people off while you are driving down the road.
1crazynordlander I probably should buy it by the gallon, as I’ve bought smaller amounts adding up to that number.
I’ve been really happy with it, and the tires guys don’t mind it as it’s water soluble, and doesn’t ruin their gear,
Did you take the valve stem off?
No, just took the valve out. (The valve extraction tool needs to be ordered separately if you don't have one, or you can pick one up at any autoparts store..)
How long did you drive with that tire you fixed? How bad was the leak you were having prior to using product?. Thanks
It used to leak down about every two days, so just slow enough not to be able to find it. The tire was fine for the next four years. At that point, we replaced them all.
Instructions show to have the valve stem up at the top, not at the bottom..
Interesting, my instructions showed the picture of the stem at the bottom.
Either way, with no air in the tire, I wouldn’t have the stem up top, because you’ll never get it all in.
Not that I’m worried about losing what’s in the stem, but it would be messier for no reason.
The only product I would fill stem up would be weighting material, in tractors, because the fluid fills past the edge of the rim level.
You’ll never use that much TireJect.
I just bought some and it says to use 6 oz for Small Truck and 8 oz for Full Size Truck or SUV . I see you used 2 pouches .... what size were they ?
It was two 4oz packages.

I've used it before, and it worked great. I expect nothing less this time around. An ATV tire won't need as much, so its pretty cost effective compared to a tube or something.
Still holding air! ;-) one week down.
ShawnMrFixitlee I have a video using this stuff on a crack in a lawnmower tire sidewall. I worked until the crack blew out. I bought a gallon of this stuff and use it on ATV tires all the time. I just put some in my Polaris Ranger front tire. I saw onelonelyfarmer shoot 22 caliber holes in an ATV tire after he put tireject and air in and it stopped leaking. TJ says use it to prevent leaks. I say use it after you have a leak.

Just tried a bit of atf fluid on a lawnmower had been leaking for15 years couldnt believe it. Worked tire had been leaking since it was put on

I have a scooter that leaks at the bead and jus got some tireject bead sealer, hope it works but maybe should just put half in because the tire are much smaller. Just started after 1 1/2 years but have had a very cold winter. Read where the cold aluminum and cold tire could be the cause, so here's hoping.
Yup, good call, save the rest for the other tire. Aluminum especially the cheap stuff, tends not to be sealed terribly well. I’ve had rims leak well away from the bead. Aluminum is porous and tends to lose air that way.
TireJect seems to solve that issue as well.

Hey Jim, great video! I used it to install TireJect on my car. Quick question: what does it mean if I can't push all the TireJect into my tire? I removed the valve core and deflated until no more air was coming out... when I installed TireJect it seemed like half the package or so was still left. I have a very small car so I'm hoping that it just means I used all the TireJect my tires can handle? Well, I will also find out in a couple days time if the leak doesn't go away.
cryptid oneal It should be able to take the entire package. If the valve stem is out, it should pretty much pour right in.
Did you shake and mix the container before pouring it in?
I'm guessing it didn't hold air as 4 months have gone by with no follow up. Probably corrosion between the wheel and tire that snake oil wouldn't fix.
