I have never heard one single bad word about John. Everyone loves him so much. Not only the best entertainer the world has ever seen but also a lovely man. Very very funny could be a stand up comedian. Married very young and still much in love. Great horseman. Great friend. I’ve had tears running down my face so many times listening to him. Must watch him sing with Jimmy Barnes also MUST watch him with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra sing The Voice he throws the microphone stand about six foot in the air and catches it with one hand and then throws it across the stage. Later he picks it up with his foot!! He owns the stage. This is why he was born to do this. When he signs you totally believe what he’s singing about. He can sing anything.
Anthony is Australia’s leading opera singer. If you go to Brian Henderson bandstand you can see John’s first tv appearance singing Sadie the cleaning lady which Anthony teases him with , he was 17 and so cute. I still can see him in my mind.
He went to old folks homes with lil sis and uncle in the UK, moved to aus age 10, lil sis fell off his lap, mid song. He just kept going, the family said he would be a trouper from then. Isaw a bit from around then, he was making himself a sanga, singing Sadie.
One of the great performances in this concert is the duet between John and Olivia singing Please Don't Ask Me; this is pure theatre, and a beautiful romantic ballad.
JF is the most down to earth, grounded performer I’ve ever known. In all his years as an entertainer I have never heard a bad thing said or written about him in that time. He has a gift and he uses it to make people happy, you can tell he always enjoys singing as much as we love listening to him, what you see is what you get, he is definitely a true legend. ❤️🇦🇺
John Farnham IS the kind of guy you'd want to be friends with. He's a great guy who treats his musical companions with respect. And he's funny as well - always having a joke with them eg. telling the saxophonist to "get out of here" and playing around with the pianist. They love him. Anthony Warlow is from a musical theatre background and is a big star here with an INCREDIBLE voice and stage presence. I have CDs by both of them.
Matt. If you search for JOHN FARNHAM AND ANTHONY WARLOW MAIN EVENT GRANADA you will get a little surprise. Love your show. Thanks for all your hard work.
John Farnham is a Legend and his voice is Phenomenal. You're right in saying he segues from speaking conversationally to singing in the space of a breath.
John Farnham is such a nice guy. I have met him a couple of times, and there is no "Star" garbage about him. He is a really nice guy, who loves his fans. Anthony Warlow is a classically trained baritone, who is well known in Opera and Musical Theatre, and is much loved here in Aus. Both of them have incredible voices, with incredible range, but I have seldom heard a range as broad as John's. He blows my mind with his voice. That is why he is The Voice!
THE Main Event was an entire show. Featuring John, Anthony And Olivia Newton John.. I hope the next part you review is them singing Granada... It is very operatic and really shows how John can sing anything.. Including ACDC and Led Zeppelin covers!!
I saw an interview with John and he said singing 'just kinda happened'. No vocal lessons or anything.. although he said he had an Uncle who could sing... Humble as ever! Oh and Matt he was a plumber apprentice before he started singing!
Hey Matt, love this reaction and love both these two. You said that you were going to react to the rest of the video. Ive been looking everyday....please, please do it. You will love it.
What more can one say, this is phenomenal, thanks Matt for more Farnsey reactions we love them. Check out his live performance of “angels” with his back up singer Lisa Edwards if you wanna see his funny side and him talk a bit more. This song “help” was the first Farnsey song you reacted to with the Melbourne symphony orchestra
This was part of the fabulously successful Main Event series of concerts featuring John Farnham, Anthony Warlow (classically trained musical theatre star) and Olivia Newton-John. They performed solo, duets and then all three of them showing off their musical and comedic skills. A superb concert. I never got to attend but have the DVD and it's just wow. Would have been something to have been there. Given this is live, just stunning performances by all three amazing talents.
John was a huge hit from 1967 to 1972. He was about 18. He stayed a big star for a while, then in the late seventies From 79 to 82 he couldn’t get a job for love nor money. He was singing in pubs and clubs. He became lead singer of the dying ‘little river band’ from 82 to 85. Then A music producer believed in him and mortgaged his own home to launch an album of John. That single was ‘you’re the voice’ released in ‘86 off the whispering Jack album. It stayed number 1 in the charts for 25 weeks. He has sung with so many people. Tom Jones ‘long way to the top’ is fantastic.
Anthony Warlow has been our Phantom of the Opera amongst many other wonderful musical theatre and operatic roles. Cancer survivor too. Also do you realise Help is the Beatles song slowed down. Paul McCartney said that's how it was meant to be sung, but the powers that be didn't want a slow song so they sped it up.
The guy is legend down under, and one of the most down to earth person you'll meet. He's as Aussie as they come, thanks for your vid I enjoyed it, I'll be checking out moreof your content cheers mate
He was a plumber when he became famous with his first record. He'd never had a singing lesson in his life. Obviously he's had coaches since then but the talent has always been there
He was firstly a plumber's apprentice, and an opportunity came up for him to have a career in music, glad he made the right decision. He was so humble he probably didn't realise how to good he was, back then.
John is exactly what you see. He respects and loves his musicians, his back up singers and anyone who stops to talk to him. I don’t think he knows how to be unkind and he is funny. That is what you don’t see until you see him live. This was a 3 month tour with Olivia Newton John and Anthony Warlow. Anthony had just come through some pretty tough cancer treatment. He is famous here for the starring roles in stage musicals like Phantom of the Opera. All of the top one’s. Livvy had been through cancer at least once and now she is stage 4 for the third time. I think John and Livvy were getting him back to what he loves best. They are 3 beautiful and caring people. I adopted a daughter with the gifts John must have had as a child. We didn’t know what to do with her either, we have zero musical talent. We just thought she was cute until she won the lead in a stage musical. She would come home from rehearsals saying it is so uncool to sing I love you to an American man. She looked 22 but she was only 9. Then her friends tried to compete with her and you can’t compete with the musical gifts she was born with. Any instrument she picked up she could play in hours. She taught herself to read music in an afternoon. She kept 5 different kinds of guitars because her hands are small and they were not as easy for her to play. She couldn’t reach some of the keys. She told me if it is too easy then she doesn’t deserve to do it. That is what her school friends did to her after they saw what she could do.
I heard his mother say, he used to go with his uncles and grandfather to entertain the old people. One day he was singing with his sister on his lap, she fell off and he kept singing. His grandfather said, he will be a performer. Apparently it runs in the familyas his grandfather was a self taught musician.
In 2013 hundreds of singers and musicians voted for the top Australian Singers of all time and they voted John Farnham unreservedly No. 1 Jimmy Barnes was voted No.5 Anthony Warlow No.79. Th

Well, actually he didn't have any singing lessons...it's all natural. His voice just cuts through...so emotional every time I hear him...he is well loved in Australia and now reactors are loving him as well. he is such a gorgeous guy...with a great Aussie sense 💖of humour...
Steve Williams (sax) is also a natural. I knew him well in the 70's, and he is soooooo talented and overcame shyness to be able to perform in front of people.
