I grew up watching that movie and listening to all her music so much that it felt like she was a part of our family..lol She was so down to earth and humble, she stayed true to who she was and didn't let fame change her in way that mattered. She always seemed down to earth and real and never lost who she was to her fame, like so many other artists. She was and always will be the first Lady of country music.
I’m a coal miner’s granddaughter. My grandfather mined coal in a little town in Washington state called Roslyn. A show called Northern Exposure was filmed there from 1990 to 1995. My grandpa moved his family to the other side of the Cascade mountains when my dad and his brother were near high school age because he didn’t want them to end up working in the mines. Grandpa said he hardly ever saw the light of day because he went into the mines before sun up and left the mines after sundown. He thankfully was never sick from the coal dust and lived to the ripe old age of 95. Thank you for sharing your tour of Loretta’s childhood home Misty. It was fun to see.
Hi Misty. COAL. Thank you so so much for taking us along to Butcher Hollow. I always wanted to go there. Loved seeing Loretta Lynn 's. Childhood Home. Always liked Loretta and Patsy Cline. Grew up on Country Music. Loved the movies Coal Miners Daughter and Sweet Dreams. They were both so good. You are the best for taking us along and including us. Take Care. Safe Travels. God Bless You.
Coal .. oh my goodness Cole miners daughter is one of my all-time favorite movies. The first time I watched it I was about 10 or 11 years old then I totally got obsessed with Loretta Lynn as a young preteen .. I remember buying the cassette tape of coal miners daughter.. soon as I’m done commenting I’m going to watch the movie on prime. It’s only $3.99 thank you Misty for this it was wonderful. I was kind of in tears because Loretta Lynn, will always touch my heart.❤ longing for the good old days ..
Hi Misty, It’s hard for me to convey just how meaningful the video of your trip to Butcher Holler means to me! My Mama was a huge Loretta Lynn fan. Country music filled our home from the time I was a little girl (60+ years ago). My 2011 Christmas gift to her was tickets to Loretta’s concert early 2012. When she opened the envelope and realized what it was, she jumped up and down squealing! We had such a great time at the concert and at 75; Mama said it was one of the best times she ever had! Out of the blue in May of 2012, she was diagnosed with stage 4 non smoker lung cancer and she went to heaven on November 2nd. And now 10+ years later, seeing how happy she was opening the gift and going to the concert is a very special and treasured memory❤️. I could never imagine it would be my last Christmas with her, but I’m glad it was a special one for us both❤️. I love your enthusiasm and watching your videos. You were so kind to auction a pink glass bird I sent to you for cancer awhile ago. God bless you and you’re family!
The whole elite lie at this world is overpopulated is the biggest lie going look at all that empty land when you get in a plane that’s all you see for miles and miles and miles and the land that crops could grow on animals can live on but yet they lie and say we’re overpopulated
What a fantastic video and your admiration for Loretta Lynn is contagious. When Connie was talking about the original cane ladderback chairs put a smile on my face I have one just like it. It was made by my great x 3 grandfather and it sits in my living room. My fathers family of 12 was from Hickory holler in Tn we went to the home he grew up in back in the mid 90's and it was still standing.
Misty, I enjoyed your video very much. I spent 15-plus years in the medical field in Nashville, TN. and had the privilege of caring for Miss Loretta and her brother Willie. I can share a story that wouldn't be unethical for me to share. All of the siblings including Loretta, Crystal, and Peggy stayed during the duration of Willie's hospital stay. As children, they had made a pact to take care of each other when they would be sick. During their brother's stay with us, they did just that. From taking turns sleeping on the couch overnight so he would never be alone, to bathing him. One day when I came in the room all of his sisters were present. He asked me to pick up a can of food his sisters had gifted him. The can said "Rattlesnake meat". When I picked it up the whole can made a rattling sound and shook...scared me bad. They all broke out in laughter when I yelped and dropped the prank can on the floor.... and laughed harder when a fake snake jumped from the can! They were all pleasant rascals. Quite a few years later Miss Loretta was my patient again for a procedure. She actually remembered me and recalled the snake story. Loretta Lynn was genuine, humble, and always gracious. I found this to be true of the entire talented/gifted family. I've never visited her homeplace but your post was a bit emotional for me as well. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve been to Butcher Hollar & absolutely loved it!. When I was there 8-9 years ago there was a deli in the store where you first stopped. I was fortunate enough to have Loretta’s daughter, Cissy Lynn, make me a turkey sandwich. I think I spoke to her for over an hour & I was just as giddy as you are in this video. My father is who turned me onto Loretta Lynn & I grew up, only listening to country music, in fact, it’s all I listen to this day. Fun fact, my stepfather used to be a back up singer for George Jones. He sang on the “she stopped loving him today” hit. They remained lifelong friends. I never got to meet him, but I did speak to him on the phone one time. There’s something about country music legends that just give me goosebumps. They are truly legends. Thank you so much. Misty & Mark for taking us on this tour with you. Even though I’ve been there, it was only one time & I would absolutely love to go back. ❤❤
I also cried when I was in the original homestead house. There’s an energy there that gets you in the heart. I’m sure I will edit this comment as I get through this video. I am overwhelmed all over again!
Coal!! I'm watching as I type this. I'll watch it again later when Gavin gets home cause he's gonna wanna see it too. I just couldn't wait! 🙂 I remember that movie so very well too and many scenes clearly. She was a true pioneer for women in music and helped so many others on their way. She's forever the sweetheart of country music. I have loved hearing personal stories from others about her. Tanya Tucker said every time I would chat with her on the phone Loretta would ask "do you need any money honey?" Tanya would say," no darlin I'm good and I also know she'd give it if I said yes." She was generous and always thinking of others.
Loretta is one of my all time favorites. I took my daughter to see her live for her 17th birthday…. A birthday 4/14 she shares with Loretta. It was fantastic. Loretta came out and said… “If I don’t sing the song you want to hear tonight…just go home and play it”. Cole Miners daughter is my favorite movie.I rewatch it every year on my birthday. My kids and I love quoting it. A favorite is…” Doo stop growling like a big ole bare”… imagine it in her voice. Fantastic. So glad you went there ❤
Enjoyed your tour - I am a third generation coal miner’s 😮daughter - originally from Eastern Kentucky - beautiful scenery but coal mining is a hard way to make a living - the finest peoples you will ever meet live in Eastern Kentucky - makes me homesick!
Coal. Watching how emotional you were on the porch was very touching brought tears 😭. It is so pretty there. Wish I could have seen Kentucky with you. Love you ❤❤
Coal! Hello 😊 This is Rita from Ohio. Love Loretta Lynn!! I grew up listening to her music. My mom & dad took us to the drive-in when Coalminer's Daughter first came out. I was just a lil girl at that time. And I watched the movie several times over the years. Sissy Spacek did a wonderful job portraying Loretta. Also my mom & dad was born in Kentucky.. Harlan County near the border of Tennessee. I love Kentucky. Haven't been there in years. My grandpa on my dad's side was a coalminer too. I could go on & on about Kentucky. Thank you for sharing this with us!! Loved it so much!!! My mom passed two months before Loretta this past year. 😢😢 My mom was 77. I miss her so much!! I'm still struggling with the loss of my momma. Well gonna stop chatting about my momma I just want to cry more😢😢. Again thank for giving away some of that Coal from Butcher Hollar. If I win a piece of it... I'll cherish it forever!! ❤❤
Thank you for taking us along with you to Butcher Holler. Doolittle was not an easy man to live with, but he loved Loretta and was very instrumental in her career. Now I want to watch the movie AGAIN. It’s one of my all time favorites. I love Loretta’s story telling music ❤️❤️. COAL !!!!!!!!!
Wow...a piece of Coal. Love the backwoods. Beautiful drive. Thank you Misty for sharing your adventure with us. Love Loretta Lynn! You're such a sweetheart.
Bless your Heart Misty!! My husband and I visited there 3 years ago. I started crying at the GS. My grandfather was a coal miner in PA. They lived in a company house till my grandparents death. As a little girl I always remember seeing his coal miner hat and bucket. When we went to visit them. Now that little town is full of boney (sp) piles and smells of coal. He died of black lung which so many did back then. So happy you enjoyed it there. 🥰
I can still hear Sissy asking, "Doo are you leaving?". And Tommy saying, "No I ain't leaving". I love, love, love that movie! Thanks so much for taking us along on the tour Misty!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Coal. That’s awesome being able to get some coal. I’ve never been down there but love to go one day. I did see the movie and it was really good plus she’s is my favorite singer and Conway I can listen to them all day every day. Thank you for taking us along I really enjoyed it. Have a great time there ❤
Eastern Kentucky is so beautiful! I lived In Tennessee for 30+ years and always loved roaming the backroads in both states. My bestie and I always pick up a rock from wherever we go, mark the place and date on it and add it to a rock garden in my yard. It's a great way to recall the fun times! Thanks for taking us along on the road's of Loretta's early life🥰
COAL Miner's Daughter was the very 1st movie, that I had seen in a theater, with my Mom. She would've loved to have visited down there. Thanks for sharing.
How awesome!!! Thank you for taking us with you. Can not imagine working in a dusty COAL mine to support a family. But back then that was the best place to work.
Misty I owe you a HUGE THANK YOU! First, thank you for always sharing and taking us with you whether it's shopping, vlogging, or on an adventure. Second, I want to thank you for reminding me of the truly magical place that I was born and raised. Seeing and/or hearing the same thing for your whole life it is easy to take things for granted and lose sight of your surroundings. Being a Coal Miners Daughter myself, Country music, hollers, porch swings, buck dancin', story telling, and so on is something that I have always been surrounded by. I was raised and still live in middle Tennessee. I am halfway between Nashville (home of country music) and Sevierville (home of Dolly Parton) so ive literally been surrounded with these things my whole life. Seeing your face, your excitement, and your emotions just flooded me with memories and feelings about this beautiful place i am from. That might not mean anything to some people but it is magical to me.... so again THANK YOU. I'm so glad that you and Mark had a good time. In the future a trip to Nashville or Dollywood might be something you would enjoy... Sending all my ❤
P.S.... Seeing the Miners helmet brought me to tears. I can remember my father coming home and my sister and I would carry his helmet and Battery operated Light into the house. That battery pack was about the size of a regular box of cereal and was SO HEAVY. I don't know how those men worked so hard and went through so much for so little pay.
Misty thank you very much for sharing this video. I’ve been a Loretta Lynn fan since she was first on the radio in the 60s. I’ve been a country music fan for 60+ years. I have been to Hurricane Mills in TN but never to Butcher Holler. My maiden name is Lynn so who knows Doo could be related to my family. I know somewhere along the line someone did live in KY and lots of the Lynn’s from my family live or lived in the Celina, TN area which is close to KY. Anyway, the tour through Loretta’s home did bring tears to my eyes. I also love history and antiques. Each piece of furniture has history in it. If you have never been to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville you should go. I’ve been there twice and could probably sit in there on the pews nearly all day. It’s a sacred place to me. Thank you very much!! Terri
My mother looked and sang just like Loretta Lynn. She played guitar (self- taught) and sang to me all her life- all the classics. Loretta, Patsy, Tammy ect. Thank you for taking me on your vacation! Coal ❤️
Coal!! Misty I enjoyed this trip so much with you & Mark, thanks so much for taking me along😊Kentucky has beautiful scenery 🌄🌲🌿🪵The dogs at the home place added to the charm of this loving home as did an actual family member giving the tour. That was gracious of her to allow you to film inside, like she knew how special this was to you & that you are the sweetest 🥰 I have watched that movie many times, it is one of my favorites that I always ☺️
My grandparents had a little country store attached to their home and we spent every Sunday there. When you walked into the general store….I felt like I was in Grandma and Grandpa’s store again.
Super interesting tour! 😍 Loretta and Chrystal were beautiful women! My father, both my grandfathers and my great-grandfather were also miners. It was a tough and dangerous job. There are still mines where I live ( in Belgium, Limburg), these are no langer used, but in one of the mines there is a mining museum and you even can view parts of the mine with a guide. I used to do this regulary as a child with my parents. Very interesting to see! 🪨 ⛏️ ❤
COAL - Although I never actually met her, Loretta Lynn is my cousin and I would loooove to have a piece of coal from Butcher Holler! 😊 My papaw was a Kentucky coal miner and then later on ran a general store.
My parents were born in Glowmawr and second creek hollow respectively. About 120 miles from Butcher Hollow! Thanks for sharing! I’ve seen the movie several times but think im going to rewatch. All the great ones are gone! It’s sad! I teared up when you went inside the house
@@themistyshow. no ma’am, I should have been more specific, my father was born in Glowmawr in 1937 and my mother was born in second creek in 1941. They moved us to Mobile Alabama December of 76 looking for a better life. I am now a resident of moss point Mississippi. I love Kentucky but the adage about moving on down the line rang true! I love Hazard Ky which is where both those hollows are but there isn’t much to do there for work.
Thanks for sharing. I was born and raised in KY. It is truly beautiful. I grew up with my dad and mom listening to Loretta and all the old country stars! I love her movie too. This was so fun.
Thank you for sharing your your with us. I had the pleasure of seeing Crystal Gayle at The Grand Ole Opry a few years ago… her hair was indeed long and her voice luscious.
COAL ❤️❤️ This is mine and my moms all time favorite movie. We adore Loretta Lynn, patsy cline and crystal gale. Thank you so much for taking us with you ❤
Brenda Millsaps From Cleveland Ohio Got To Visit Butcher Holler Shorty After My Visit She Pass I Felt So Blessed To Be A Part Of She Her Childhood I Even Sat At Her Kitchen Table Got A Picture

Such a huge inspiration and everything she went through rest in peace Loretta thank you for your wonderful music and memories
I grew up watching that movie and listening to all her music so much that it felt like she was a part of our family..lol She was so down to earth and humble, she stayed true to who she was and didn't let fame change her in way that mattered. Coal. Definitely looking for Coal Miner's Daughter movie. Loved Loretta. ❤

Hello 😊
This is Rita from Ohio.
Love Loretta Lynn!! I grew up listening to her music. My mom & dad took us to the drive-in when Coalminer's Daughter first came out. I was just a lil girl at that time. And I watched the movie several times over the years. Sissy Spacek did a wonderful job portraying Loretta.

My grandfather and great grandfather were coal miners in Iselin, PA. Small world.
It's wonderful that they have kept the sites looking as they were and no big tacky commercial signs.
Thanks! Loved the Loretta Lynn tour. I loved Coal Miners Daughter too.

My mother looked and sang just like Loretta Lynn. She played guitar (self- taught) and sang to me all her life- all the classics. Loretta, Patsy, Tammy ect. Thank you for taking me on your vacation! Coal ❤️
COAL. Looks like a trip we would love. May have to do this. Thanks for sharing.
I was today years old when I learned that Crystal is Loretta’s sister! What rock have I been under??? Great video! COAL!
Coal! :) this is cool.
Coal!
How wonderful this was! Loved Loretta!
Coal!! Misty I enjoyed this trip so much with you & Mark, thanks so much for taking me along😊Kentucky has beautiful scenery 🌄🌲🌿🪵The dogs at the home place added to the charm of this loving home as did an actual family member giving the tour. That was gracious of her to allow you to film inside, like she knew how special this was to you & that you are the sweetest 🥰 I have watched that movie many times, it is one of my favorites that I always ☺️
enjoyed immensely! thanku!
Thank you for sharing your adventure. I love the movie Coal Miners Daughter. Coal!!!!
COAL!!! I was today years old when I reremembered that Crystal Gale was also from the Webb family :) Thanks for taking us along Misty.
COAL awesome 😎 thank you SOooo much for this video.
When the movie 🍿 came out I went to go see it 3 times. Agree GReaT MoVie
I love History and Antiques, thanks for sharing, I was in tears too ❤❤
COAL - Although I never actually met her, Loretta Lynn is my cousin and I would loooove to have a piece of coal from Butcher Holler!
It's amazing that you're so close to where she grew up. I'm sure the movie will feel even more special now!
Wonderful, have a great time, stay safe .
Thanks got sharing your trip. Coal
Thanks for sharing. I was born and raised in KY. It is truly beautiful. I grew up with my dad and mom listening to Loretta and all the old country stars! I love her movie too. This was so fun.
COAL ❤ thanks for taking us along! Love Loretta and Patsy Cline! I watch all of your videos and love your energy! Keep doing what you do! 😊😊
Thanks so much!!
Thank you for sharing your your with us. I had the pleasure of seeing Crystal Gayle at The Grand Ole Opry a few years ago… her hair was indeed long and her voice luscious.
Misty, if you haven’t already visited, you must go to Graceland… very touching
COAL ❤️❤️ This is mine and my moms all time favorite movie. We adore Loretta Lynn, patsy cline and crystal gale. Thank you so much for taking us with you ❤

COAL
Thank you so much!
When you got all emotional, so did I. I saw coal miner’s daughter when it came out originally. I’m going to watch it again. Thanks Misty.
Thank you much for taking us along. Fantastic video.!!!
I watched the movie over and over as well. I don’t like country music but I loved the music from Loretta and Patsy
I love scenic trips. I love how the area is not all commercialized.
Coal!! 😊 Thanks for taking us with you! It was so fun to see all of it!❤
Coal!
I imagine I would have the same type of reaction you did when you entered her home. I get emotional like that when I am at Graceland- Elvis’ home. 💙
Coal, loved seeing you so happy to be there visiting.🎶
This was the best loved every minute and Misty thank you for this journey into the past.
The coal was the best to bring back for the memory ❤
