Love the mosaic art! Who is the artist? My guess is that the last spot was being repaired, the black “record” part. Really well done depictions of the musicians. Thank you for sharing!
In the summer of 2022, after years of fundraising and building local support, the Starr-Gennett Foundation commissioned artist Wilson Tile to begin a revitalization of the Walk of Fame Medallions.
Thanks for introducing Hoagy to me. I just checked out a few songs and enjoyed his sound. I will need to listen further when I have additional time. I enjoy Standards style of music from time to time.
I love these big old brick buildings. The history is amazing. I used to get records in a thrift store that were recorded there and I never knew. Love these people. THANKS !!!
This was fascinating! As a British person, I doubt I'll ever get to see some of the amazing sites in the US, so this really has opened my eyes to some of the history of your beautiful country and your enthusiasm along with Mark's makes it all the more exciting to watch! Thanks Misty!! ❤❤❤
Bravo, wonderful video. Great place to visit. I was familiar with most of the names on the plaques you showed us. Charlie Patton is one of my top bluesmen. Those 78s have great labels for sure. If you find a Patton 78, it's worth the price of a house and then some😎
Thank you for your kind words! Charlie Patton truly left a mark on the blues, and it’s awesome to hear you’re a fan too. Those 78s are treasures in their own right!
I live in St.Thomas Ontario Canada and there are so many beautiful murals here, st Thomas was a Railroad town back In the day and the murals here are about the railway stations and lives of the men who worked on the railroad it's a tough small city but it's the murals here that make it beautiful and historic for instance in the late 1800's Barnum and Bailey circus was in town and Jumbo the elephant was hit and killed by a train here,he was saving the little baby elephant Tom Thumb and pushed the little elephant into the ditch but he didn't jump away from the tracks he ran the length of it and the train was trying to stop but hit Jumbo on the back and tore him up. They memorial to Jumbo was a life sized statue of Jumbo up on the highest hill when you enter the city and in the winter months he wears a giant scarf that was knitted for him. Poor thing not many people can say that their town killed an elephant they say he was really gentle and his trainer cried over Jumbo, I'm not a circus lover and making animals work for our pleasure is wrong I will not even go to aquariums like we had one nearby or sea world so inhumane and alot of orcas were sick as we're dolphins but back along time ago they didn't have TV and would never have seen exotic animals, I'm going to stop yapping I could go on and on 😢
It's fascinating to hear about the rich history of St. Thomas and its murals! The story of Jumbo is truly heartbreaking yet significant in your town's narrative. Thank you for sharing such a detailed account!
