    0:16 the cylinder you created is with 4 polygons on top of the cylinder. but when I create the same thing my cylinder shows 8 polygons on top. and my settings are exactly the same like yours, verticalfaces = 5, and aroundfaces = 8. did I miss out any setting ? thank you very much Brian if you could answer my question.

      You have to use "Quad" option in the CapFaceStyle section on SubD Cylinder settings, pal.

      You can use the dot on the Gumball arrow to extrude or hold the Ctrl key down after you start dragging with the arrow. Post to the Rhino user forum if you need to share a file. discourse.mcneel.com/

    Hi! I've got a question, what about if you wanna add material just to some sections that are not in squares, for example if I want to add a material but with a curved edge. How can you do it?

    • @RhinoGuide
      @RhinoGuide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, You'd have to use texture mapping and a texture with an alpha channel. Post an example to discourse.mcneel.com/ too if that doesn't help.

    How do I selectively apply one material on certain subd faces and another material on the rest?

    • @RhinoGuide
      @RhinoGuide  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, you can't use sub-objects materials on a SubD yet. This is a filed feature request but currently not possible. You would need to convert the SubD to a Polysrf with ToNURBS and then assign sub-object materials. You can also Split and then Join areas in the PolySrf at that point to control the areas that can be selected as a sub-object prior to assigning a material via the right click menu of it's thumbnail.

    you have commands in your subd tab that I don't have - I re-downloaded and updated and still not there. Any tips on how to get those new subd commands to show? (I have had rhino 7 since launch)

    • @RhinoGuide
      @RhinoGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Run the command ToolbarReset and restart Rhino 7, that should update your SubD toolbar.

      Yes, you can export a SubD as STL format. Or use the Mesh command first and then export that.

    • @RhinoGuide

      Split has an Edgeloop option if you wanted to cut a SubD into pieces. If you just want to insert an Edgeloop, you could use InsertEdge or SubDExpandEdges or InsertPoint.

    *Dude! Slow down and SHOW the tools you are using!* I'm a Rhino user since V1.0, I am also teaching design students, so I know a teensy bit about how to break down a complex subject into smaller units to make sure people can follow along. While I usually really enjoy the RhinoGuide videos, I stopped watching this one after a short while, as it was simply impossible to reproduce the results / workflow shown in the video. To quote sb. from the comments here: "Bro...why the rush!? LOL Soo fast...." My point exactly: *"Afterselectingthestraightenbuttwrinkletoolwetripleclickthefrumblesofthecrinklellooptotieaknotintheblubbermatrix!"... me: WHAT???*
