The stones were invented in Belgium. The weight of an insulated wooden block is between 7 and 9 kg, so a crane or other aids are not required. The construction also requires no drying time and therefore saves a lot of time. There is no excess waste because every single component is actually used. When the structure is finished, the roof follows as well as the desired surface treatment. The blocks are prepared accordingly for the installation of building services (electricity, plumbing, etc.), so that this work can be completed quickly and easily by craftsmen. Until now, the Gablok company only offers its "building blocks" in Belgium

Styrofoam is 95% air, it would be difficult for hemp to have similar insulating properties and as to using biologic products as construction materials, compressed mycelium bricks might be better than hemp. Yes hemp is a good allrounder but it's a jack of all trades, master of none...

These two extra sets of prints are different home models using only half the blocks. This way, you can both take equal amount of blocks and then rebuild your own smaller house. So, its either one big home, or two small homes.
There is nothing to attach the bricks to the house, normally you can use wall ties on studs to secure the brick to the house, however there are no studs in this construction afaik.

Propably the gibrock wont go straight onto the osb. When we build framed houses we will put a 6x6cm stud on the osb where the wide studs are. Then the gibrock goes onto these. The layer gets insulatied and electrical goes in there too.
Electrical goes along the wall just like in the basement and the plumbing is done in the walls just like a normal house. if you watch the video. It explains more not that it makes great sense to do it this way. I'm just answering your questions lol
They test osb and plywood by taking a cannon that shoots 2x4 out of it at hurricane speeds. Your simply not going theough it. Google what osb and pluwood is and why its made that way. Its plenty stronger than you think…

You can run through that with dedication and someone can definitely kick you into it. German walls though? you will die if you or someone else tries to send you through them.

Downside: Polystyrene is EXTREMELY inflammable and gives off toxic gases as it burns, which is why it isn't used in bulk quantities in residential construction.
About $97 for each of these blocks. The company Gablock has a variety of home build kits available with the smallest going for around 50k, and the largest going for around 180k. Keep in mind this is JUST for the basic structure. No electrical, no plumbing, no paint, no appliances, nothing, just the frame and insulation part of the home. The frame and insulation, which is all that this represents is only about 10-20% of the total cost of a new home. So even using their least expensive home at $50k, assuming best case scenario that this is 20% of the total build cost, then you are going to be out another $200k for the rest of that home, making it a 1/4 million dollar home, which doesn't even hide your plumbing and electrical inside the walls.
Don't forget earthquakes. This design is clearly not hurricane and earthquake rated. Seems like it would make more sense to create hollow interlocking blocks that you screw together in order to reinforce all the connections filling all the cavities with spray foam after the electrical and plumbing is installed.

My point was that this system, as designed, is not truly universal and leaves doubt of its stability in high winds and earthquakes. Not all high wind events are hurricanes or tornadoes. Sometimes you get microbursts which can do as much damage as a hurricane or a tornado.

As an architect, I have questions: How do they tie it to the foundation? How do they run MEP? How do you properly run a penetration? How do they prevent high wind lift? In higher seismic areas, what prevents that foam from lateral shear? In the event of a flood, this will want to lift due to the buoyancy of the foam, how do you prevent that? There are limitations to this, but I still like it. I'm not hating on it, it's my job to be critical of alternative construction methods.

Former firefighter here. This house is an effin blowtorch waiting to ignite. EVERYTHING going into those walls will burn like gasoline. The polystyrene blocks? Gasoline. The OSB boxes? Wood chips held together with a polyurethane (likely) adhesive. Gasoline. It may be a cool, fast way to build, but that thing is a death trap.
Yeah I've worked in the foam insulation and foamboard fields of manufacturing. There is always a blowing agent in the process of making foam. The gas will release in the open, but in those containers there is a cell of gasses inside. Unless they were stored for many days. I wouldn't want to haul those boxes in a semi box trailer either. That would be a bigger bomb.
This kind of construction wouldn’t last more than 15-20 years in the cold, wet and very windy conditions of English winters. Even less in the Scottish Highlands. Heavy brick is the only truly watertight, high wind resistant building material. It’s been used for thousands of years in Europe. I’m pretty sure this invention doesn’t come close to competing with brick and tile construction. 🙏🌈🇬🇧♥️

It's quick and insulated but.. degasses some nasty chemicals even normally and has very little fire safety.. even Al clad panels have repeatedly proven themselves to be a significant fire hazard and the fire retardants used are often PFAS forever chemicals.🤷🏻🤦🏻...🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧 . Stick with carbon fixing slightly heavier materials that don't need Polystyrene or the OSB board. That requires energy and additives to produce. Don't spray foam in roofs either especially in wet and maritime climates.

Propably the gibrock wont go straight onto the osb. When we build framed houses we will put a 6x6cm stud on the osb where the wide studs are. Then the gibrock goes onto these. The layer gets insulatied and electrical goes in there too.
Electrical goes along the wall just like in the basement and the plumbing is done in the walls just like a normal house. if you watch the video. It explains more not that it makes great sense to do it this way. I'm just answering your questions lol

You can run through that with dedication and someone can definitely kick you into it. German walls though? you will die if you or someone else tries to send you through them.

A video they had online after the blocks were put up it. Looks like a stud wall is put on the inside. Plus outside I'm guessing for putting siding on or it's just furring strips for siding.

Downside: Polystyrene is EXTREMELY inflammable and gives off toxic gases as it burns, which is why it isn't used in bulk quantities in residential construction.

About $97 for each of these blocks. The company Gablock has a variety of home build kits available with the smallest going for around 50k, and the largest going for around 180k. Keep in mind this is JUST for the basic structure. No electrical, no plumbing, no paint, no appliances, nothing, just the frame and insulation part of the home.
The frame and insulation, which is all that this represents is only about 10-20% of the total cost of a new home. So even using their least expensive home at $50k, assuming best case scenario that this is 20% of the total build cost, then you are going to be out another $200k for the rest of that home, making it a 1/4 million dollar home, which doesn't even hide your plumbing and electrical inside the walls.
Why would big business allow this otherwise?

I gotta say, the lack of effort it takes to interlock them gives me so much confidence about a good gust of wind.
Don't forget earthquakes. This design is clearly not hurricane and earthquake rated. Seems like it would make more sense to create hollow interlocking blocks that you screw together in order to reinforce all the connections filling all the cavities with spray foam after the electrical and plumbing is installed.

My point was that this system, as designed, is not truly universal and leaves doubt of its stability in high winds and earthquakes. Not all high wind events are hurricanes or tornadoes. As an architect, I have questions:
How do they tie it to the foundation?
How do they run MEP?
How do you properly run a penetration?
How do they prevent high wind lift?
In higher seismic areas, what prevents that foam from lateral shear?
In the event of a flood, this will want to lift due to the buoyancy of the foam, how do you prevent that?
There are limitations to this, but I still like it. I'm not hating on it, it's my job to be critical of alternative construction methods.

I grew up in a Sears house, it's still standing,it was built in 1938, before I was born.
Former firefighter here. This house is an effin blowtorch waiting to ignite. EVERYTHING going into those walls will burn like gasoline. The polystyrene blocks? Gasoline. The OSB boxes? Wood chips held together with a polyurethane (likely) adhesive. Gasoline. It may be a cool, fast way to build, but that thing is a death trap.
Yeah I've worked in the foam insulation and foamboard fields of manufacturing. There is always a blowing agent in the process of making foam. The gas will release in the open, but in those containers there is a cell of gasses inside. Unless they were stored for many days.
I wouldn't want to haul those boxes in a semi box trailer either. That would be a bigger bomb.

This kind of construction wouldn’t last more than 15-20 years in the cold, wet and very windy conditions of English winters. Even less in the Scottish Highlands. Heavy brick is the only truly watertight, high wind resistant building material. It’s been used for thousands of years in Europe. I’m pretty sure this invention doesn’t come close to competing with brick and tile construction. 🙏🌈🇬🇧♥️

Stick with carbon fixing slightly heavier materials that don't need Polystyrene or the OSB board. That requires energy and additives to produce.
