    Very nice Tamiya car - built it some months ago, painted it pink for my gf, ... and installed front-, rear-, and turnig lights, what was quite a hassle... you will love it - it is a perfect shelf queen because everyone loves them. Nevertheless, nice to drive, too.

    Oh man, think I'll get me one. Maybe two. You're giving me ideas. The way you were talking about "slight patina" got me thinking how it would look left stock and painted up as a well driven old faithful commuter bug that didn't get beat up. Never garage kept, washed here and there, mechanically maintained. 1:1 bugs like that always had some slight rust around the window chrome, light trim rings and ever so slightly on the wheels here and there. Maybe oxidize the paint just a little on the roof and hood. At least out here in California that's how old workhorse bugs look.
    The reason I say I want two is that thing looks somewhere between a 67-70 and now I'd really like to do one up to look like my old dumped 1967 cal-bug I had when I was a kid. Man that car was fun! I have a soft spot in my heart for them. I've owned a couple and worked on many. I didn't even know Tamiya had that kit so thanks for sharing! Whatever you do [or did as this post is old-ish] it certainly will be interesting. You do awesome work man :)

      Its always neat to hear car stories. I still havent even began putting this together. I have always been about modifying my vehicles (1:1) so Im not even sure the bug body will stay on this build now since I have had many past car loves (and I suck at painting lexan). Always have an eye out for cool RC hardbodies that might fit this chassis though. You should definitely pick up one for these kits though, tamiya makes great stuff. I grew up on kits like these.

    Body isn’t bad. I wish there was a place making a scale Bug chassis, though. Like the real one but in miniature. Wouldn’t be good for drifting or anything but still cool to have.

    This needs to have a massive brushless motor and be styled in a drag way with a wheelie bar

    I have been thinking of doing a M06 Drift build as well, but with a Honda City Turbo II cause I love that car to death. I also just think it would be hilarious to see it drifting around. I look forward to seeing the rest of the build of this, especially since it will help me when I decide to build mine.

    Josh, your Tamiya beetle kit you did could that be done as a beach buggy as well? As you know or heard this car history used a beetle chassis to put a buggy like body on it. Maybe I can go in that direction show the beetle in a it's other iconic look. What you thin?

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are quite a few things still needed to make this run and drive. You need at least a 2 channel radio. There are tons of budget systems out there, I hear a lot of good reviews of the flysky brand. Then you need an ESC, I like the Hobbywing Quickrun brushed setup, under $20 and self programming. Then you will need a steering servo, a decent unit can be had for under $20 as well. I bought some really cheap ones off amazon that were nylon geared and they are amazing. I think they were around $5 each. Next is a battery and charger. I still use NIMH stick packs, I recommend 500mah as it will give you a good amount of run time. They cost around $30 and up depending on the brand. Then poly- carbonate paint for the body and some basic tools to assemble it.

    Would this body fit with a TT01 chassis?

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No these are made for the tamiya m-chassis. It’s a bit shorter and narrower.

    • @airwreckage694
      @airwreckage694 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCeveryday In theory, with slight modifications, I assume it would look decent enough for a drift car? I have a TT01 chassis and would love a bug shell for it. more concerned with the wheel wells aligning with true or close to center.

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tt01 is going to be about an inch longer wheelbase and around 1/2 inch wider on both sides. I think it was 3Racing that used to make an M-chassis conversion kit for the tt01. I had one once and it made a really nice platform. But I havent seen any in a long time.

    • @RCeveryday

    • @RCeveryday

    • @beechmountainrc1668
      @beechmountainrc1668 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      One simple fix in the rear and it will never break. Look for fix videos. I've had a CC-01 for about 4 years. I crawl heavily with it, and have even competed in class 1 events beside RC4wd and Vattera and Axial trucks. I have videos on my channel, its my favorite truck.
