Yes these kits are fun to build my last one was 15 years ago the Mini Copper Rover kit. I waant them to bring that back. I like how the car bounces in slow-mo it looks so real
2:47 - I agree 10000000% but wow!!! I owned a 1958 ghia convertible for many years - this still appeals to me. I think a canvas top would certainly work.
I just finished mine last weekend. I've already added oil shocks, Fast Eddie bearings, and magnetic body mounts. I just couldn't make myself drill body post holes. I went with Tamiya Bright Mica Red with transparent silver rally stripes.
SKULL MAN ME TOO! FINISHED MINE A MONTH AGO ,GOT BLUE OIL SHOCKS, LOW PROFILE TIRES,GOLD Y RIMS WITH A TESTERS GREEN PAINT AND A 3350 BRUSH SYS. WHICH I HAVENT INSTALLED YET AND MAGNETIC BODY CLIPS,WITH FAST EDDIE Bs!
Good video, thanks. I have replaced the body supports with neodymium magnets, all my Tamiya vehicles have this system and they gain a lot in aesthetics
I just finished building a Tamiya M06L Volkswagen Type 2 Van (minibus), same chassis different body. It was so much fun to build and looks great. I want the Karmann Ghia too! Waiting for the battery to charge for the first run...
Great video/review as usual! No one can do a better job on a detailed Lexan scale body like Tamiya. I only wish they'd update their included ESC to be able to run Lipos. No too many folks bother with Nicad or Nimh anymore. Once you go lipo, you never go back.....LOL. I have two of their unused escs just sitting on a shelf.
He did a awesome job on that and you're right it kind of throws it off because of the pain coming up through the body that's not good I mean I would look a lot better without the pins and I would like to see one and I and a orange and yellow that would stick right out like a Sunburst yellow have lots of fun with it my friend looks like you already are
Nice car Greg, please tell me that you are going to upgrade it, at least the bearings and the shocks. The Tamiya brushless motor would be good too. Thanks Greg for another great review.
Just to let you know. They aren't actually Phillips head screws. The correct term is JIS. If more people were to use actual JIS tools, they wouldn't complain so much about, "stripping out the Phillips screws" on Tamiya kits. Great vid. Thanks.
oh man, i swore id never buy anther new RC car. but im a diehard VW guy and this is just super cool. my head is telling me "NO!" but my heart and stimulus check are saying "alright alright alright"
Regarding the body post system: perhaps the builder could fabricate their own mounting system ; I concur, If there are no holes in that body , I wouldn't cut any for posts! Are the body post locations pre-drilled??
"...Are the body post locations pre-drilled??...." While I'm not familiar the the Karmann Gia, all the Tamiya kits I've built, the body post locations are unfortunately predrilled.
Any issues with screws stripping during your build. I had a tt01 and nearly half the screws would strip the plastic threads with me barely tightening them. Seems Tamiya's plastics are very cheap.
I like the show it helps out a lot with one of my nitro 4x4’s but not the other do u think u could do a redcat racing earthquake 3.5 nitro to help people who have them like me
Hey I was wondering.. I’m about to start in this hobby, I just bought a EMAX interceptor with the fpv goggles, and it just came in today, I drove it once and I honestly fell in love with rc cars and now I want to build a car. I have no building experience, I’ve watched your video about the grasshopper 2 and I’m thinking about getting it but I was wondering if there’s a better kit I could get? My price range is about 300 dollars and I have no tools, no experience with rc cars. I’m a complete newbie and I’m asking for your advice, I’m planning on ordering some metric hex drivers and other things but idk what else to get. Please help 😂 love the channel btw, all your videos I’ve seen are great!
Although the screwheads look like phillips, they likely are not. If it's manufactured in Japan, the fasteners will be JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard).
I've been building Tamiya kits for 35 years and love them but I can't understand why in 2020 they are still using plastic bushings and brushed motors with the old Tamiya battery connector. Ball bearings are so cheap now and you can buy budget brushless/ESC combos for well under $50 now days. They make wonderful kits and I know they are often not meant for high speeds but Tamiya really needs to modernize.
The body post and massive mold lines across the front fenders need to go. The ttO2 I have look great but the mold lines across the civics front end sucks.
Hi there, great looking kit and Tamiya certainly do put high levels of detailing on their models. I have just returned back to the RC Car world, after a 34 year absence. I have purchased and building the Tamiya Audi Quattro A2 on the TT-02 chassis. I have posted up onto the TH-cam channel my 'The Beginners Journey'. If you have time, please do let me know what you think. Keep safe.
OMG I so need this. My dad had an emerald green one when I was a kid. I loved driving that car after I got my license.
I love it! I'm happy they came out with the body shell. I like the M06 chassis anyway. Fun build too!
You’re video on the Mustang gt4 convinced me to get that one , I think you might of convinced me to get this one too. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased one today and can’t wait to start. It will be my first scratch build after several RTR cara and trucks.
I literally just finished building mine and saw your video after, lol... I love this car body and it runs amazingly with the fast Eddy bearings!!! :')
Can it drift?
@@reli0li__87 with the right motor and tires, it drifts awesomely!
Thank you for all the videos. Very nice looking kit.
Thanks for watching 😀
Thanks Greg, Awesome review video again! Car looks great! Now I must get one!!! Thank you!!

Bet it looks amazing in red! Nice upgrade choices too! 😎
That's so cool. Mine is on the way. Really wanna put magnet mounts too. Any suggestions please?

A great review and a beautiful model !
Good video, thanks. I have replaced the body supports with neodymium magnets, all my Tamiya vehicles have this system and they gain a lot in aesthetics
Great review! Looks awesome Greg 👍🏼👍🏼

Wow! Love this KG 🤩🤩🤩

Because that’s what they do in Japan
I always love scale RC
He did a awesome job on that and you're right it kind of throws it off because of the pain coming up through the body that's not good I mean I would look a lot better without the pins and I would like to see one and I and a orange and yellow that would stick right out like a Sunburst yellow have lots of fun with it my friend looks like you already are

Great video! Made me wanna build my own one!
Just pulled the trigger on this kit, waiting for it to arrive! What colour is the body? Is that a Tamiya paint?
How did I get this far in life without a RC Karmann Ghia? Need it.
Exactly! 😁
Very nice Karmann Ghia...i must buy it.
oh man, i swore id never buy anther new RC car. but im a diehard VW guy and this is just super cool. my head is telling me "NO!" but my heart and stimulus check are saying "alright alright alright"
Cool little car. Maybe magnet mounts instead of posts sticking through the body? Is the hardware standard sized if I wanted to swap to say M3 screws?
yes you can use M3 hex head screws instead.
Awesome body wish chassis was M08. Great tip for heating sticker. Thanks.
I do got one question for you what scale do you think that car is if you know please let me know thank you my friend
It is 1/10th scale sir.
If the body isn’t reamed you could get the body post magnet mounts
Will the larger traditional 26mm TC wheels and tires work on this model?
Regarding the body post system: perhaps the builder could fabricate their own mounting system ; I concur, If there are no holes in that body , I wouldn't cut any for posts! Are the body post locations pre-drilled??

Nice little car, I’d fit a bearing set & Tamiya sport tuned motor with oil shockers. Done 😎
...and there’s me with my NOS Tamiya 1967 Beetle still to complete 20 years since I bought it! 😲
just wondering can m06 chassis be converted to drift?
Any issues with screws stripping during your build. I had a tt01 and nearly half the screws would strip the plastic threads with me barely tightening them. Seems Tamiya's plastics are very cheap.

Do you think this would drift if you locked the diff?
Would this body fit a tc3 or generic wheel base 1/10 tc

Do you have a kyosho rampage pro?
Is this a RC Driver magazine spin-off? I'm just asking because I happen to have the zahawk to almost TRF 201 modded buggy from a project article.
Most my friends in the hobby hate that they don't use hexagon screws.
I have a full size 69 karmann ghia. Pretty sure the rc car would be me at the stop light.
Must have one
Where can you find and purchase the "right" screwdriver, knowing that it needs to be a JIS screwdriver? Thanks :)
I have the Tamiya #2 Phillips driver. Tamiya has a new ratcheting driver that is also supposed to be very good.
The Tamiya set is amazing. I bought a second one for my Honda Civic because the #2 is such a good engagement
looks good
Starting this vid i thought its metal body 😊👌

1st comment🤘🤘
I homemade my own body for one of these to go on a 959 chassis. Mine was a bit rubbish but not too bad for a 12 year old I guess.
Friction dampers good for scale drives

RD's Drone Reviews totally agree
I agree about bearings..but about brushles on this chasis is so abusive...

Looks like it could be a decent drift car
Has tamiya given up on illustrated box art?
This body would be better on something like the rough rider suspension to be more accurate!
You can get oil filled dampers.
JIS not Phillips 😓 Tamiya drivers/tools work great
The body posts are because people race them in Japan
Please put it on magnets, body pins look so bad
Here’s how to get rid of the body posts:

Tamiya is cool but they need to get with the times
👍🏽🐒🇺🇸
Gibt es nicht schon viel zu viele VW auf den Straßen ?
Auch noch ein RC Auto bauen !!! Das muß wirklich nicht sein diese VW Karren !!!
