When I saw the choice of spices being used, my mind went "hey that's kinda like what my Mom and I do". Then I read the description about this being Goan inspired! So happy to see our Goan heritage showcased on such a huge platform! It's so easy to overlook our tiny but unique state when taking about Indian cuisine! Here's a tip: Cider vinegar is great and the closest substitute to use, but if possible (and I know it's hard to find) use coconut vinegar. Also a few cloves in the blender goes as long way! Great stuff, I love this channel!

It might be pronounced like anniss because aniseed is another spice/flavour. Aniseed is the flavour of licorice. I don’t think star anise smells too similar but they might be related to each other.
It is the brand but scruncis are actually named after the inventor's dog, who's name is Scunci. So technically speaking, saying scrunchies or Scünci is correct.
Those serranos feel so extremely out of place. I think it's rather strange (and rather masochistic) that you'd want such extreme heat in a fresh green salad to accompany your spicy meat.

Pre-roasting and even roasting spices is a common thing in many Indian dishes. It really does bring out all the spices and gives it a coming together effect than where all spices retain their single raw flavour. We almost always roast our spices before we blend them.
