I used to be a full time designer for the Fortune 500 company. It’s scary how everything now is all predesigned and anybody can put together anything at the comfort of their homes. It a new world where you’re competing with the world from 3 year old to 90 year old just to make a buck. Great video BTW!

Hi Kate thank you for all your tips. I opened my shop in August last year and I've made 11 sales since. I sell digital products and print on demand mugs. Praying I will be successful like you. Thank you for helping us with your videos. May God bless you even more this year.💫💕

@@malika6218 I actually closed both shops. I felt that my niche wasn't right for me, I was selling Christian mugs and I didn't make new 2022 digital products. I sold calendars and planners.
Than after taking some time off and focusing on my college degree, I prayed about etsy and I felt God gave me a new idea. So I opened my etsy new shop and began selling pod tote bags on the 22 of June, I am 5 months in with 21 sales 10 of them are from this month alone, I had a sale everyday this month. I actually can't believe it. I'm in a niche that I really love. My advice do something that you will love and be happy doing.

@@malika6218 update: I've reached 100 sales today.💃🏾🥳❤️I'm in total shock. It's crazy. I still can't believe it and I did 55 so far this month alone, woke up with 11 sales this morning. God is good. Hard works certainly does pay off.💕now I can pay my remaining college fees for this year🙃

      @@jessychirenge Wow congratulations!
Do you print them at your house or have them printed and sent to the seller by a company?
I pray that God continues to gives you success and that I will be able to do the same. To work full time is really difficult for me, I don’t want to be out of the house for 10-11 hours a day, but I need to have some income for the next few years until my husband earns enough money for both of us.
I live in Germany so everything got so much more expensive the last few months.

Is it possible for me to still grow if I wanted one account and made “folders” of each type of digital download? Hopefully that made sense.

Thank you for your helpful videos, Kate! I have a question about selling digital downloads on Etsy: I am planning to be traveling for a while (a few months). I have heard that Etsy has been known to shut down stores just for logging in to the account (or doing basic store functions) from locations other than the country you registered the store in. Could you shed some light on how to correctly sell on Etsy and still be able to travel? (You could think of it like being a digital nomad - never knowing where you'll be in a week, but still wanting the ability to sell on Etsy without getting shut down all of a sudden). Thanks so much!

be sure to buy the VPN service with the option: DEDICATED IP, not only the vpn software , thas is in share with other 2000 people, using the same IP in common with you at the same time, due if another person is connecting with the same random ip, maybe using etsy for the same reasons, you risk to be banned from etsy , with the other user). Also a random IP is 99% normally associated to people watching porno, or download illegal torrents, movies and so on, so the risk to be ban is very high. Choose a decent service, such Nord vpn (expensive over $100/y) or cheap one like ivacy $50. avoid purevpn, I have it.... my dedicated ip work very badly. Please note: The VPN above, a part pure vpn, don't have the option IKS (what is that?) iks, PROTECT YOU from accidental drop of your dedicated ip, means IKS kill the whole internet connection if Dedicatd ip drops. BE SURE TO KEEP 2 eyes on the connection all the time, as if during your etsy session, connection drops, for etsy is very easy to see that you are on the maldive :) hope this help :)

But I am afraid that my art would not sell much if tech savvy people will just be taking screenshots or just saving the files and not buying my artwork. Is it advisable to put watermarks on my display art (not the downloadable) when you sell them on etsy? Whats the best resolution for the display art? I've been meaning to open an Etsy printable shop for months after researching. I finally created an account after watching one of your videos. I even used your free 40 listings. But Etsy suspended me while making my first draft for my first listing for no reason. How discouraging... No idea why. I have no other Etsy account nor have I purchased or sold anything on Etsy before. I already sent an e-mail to Etsy support. No response (yet). I watched several TH-cam videos regarding this matter and it looks like the issue is rampant to new account/shop owners. Maybe you could also make a video regarding the matter... I was excited for my Etsy journey but it looks like I'll have to make do with other platforms. Etsy needs to revamp their customer service.

    Questions:
    1. would you recommend having our own site + Etsy?
    2. If to have our own site, what platform would you recommend?

    • @KateHayes

I’ve used godaddy and loved it. There are many good ones though. I would say, if it keeps you from building the proper Etsy shop, wait. But if you can give proper attention to both, go for it.

Hi Kate. I put a lot of research and devoted a lot of time in making sure my digital items were going to be correctly printed, no matter which printer a customer used. I saved everything at 300dpi. My sister is an artist and I am a designer. My first customer had issues printing a clear sharp image so I pulled my Etsy shop because I couldn't afford unhappy customers. Do you have any suggestions? I can't let go of the idea of a digital shop but it's got to be right. Thank you for your help.

If you only started with one paid software what would it be? Secondly, which do you use more placeit or creative market?

    • @KateHayes
      @KateHayes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great questions! If I had to choose only one paid software to start with it would either be probably Canva Pro for design or Sale Samurai for keyword research. Though that’s such a hard decision- there are so many helpful tools for Etsy sellers. As far as using PlaceIt or Creative Market, I’d say PlaceIt is easier to get started with for beginners because of the templates and affordability of everything being included but I personally love the style of what’s offered on Creative Market and piecing things together myself a bit more. It’s so hard to choose because I love both!

When you have a completely unique style, you may get crickets or you may have just discovered gold. The only way to know is just to try and put it out there to see if it sells or not. If so, awesome! Hello Kate. I love your tips very much. Am a big fun. I have a question, though. Do you think my location can affect the rate I sell on Etsy? I am in Kenya and aspiring to get my shop, but I have had bad experiences in the past whereby, as a freelancer, I do not get well-paying clients from the UK or US in the Job mills because I am not regarded as a native English speaker. I fear that I might open a shop and fail to get the most out of it because of similar preferences. kindly help

I think Etsy is a great platform as it enables participating from wherever.
It has more to do with your offering than where you are from. Make sure your shop looks nice and presents well what you offer, has the tags and keywords that people use ( and of course your offering has to be what people want to buy/need).
I personally feel like especially art from around the world is very interesting, it doesn't matter where the maker is from. Or sometimes it can be beneficial to be from totally different part of the world.
      Just go for it!
