Jeez, i was told he was bad but i didn't know exactly how bad he really was. Babbage is definitely a much better damage dealing low star caster option
He is genuinely awful, truly unique in his awfulness
Apparently he gets a buff next year (during the "Imaginary Scramble" Event if memory serves right) that improves his second skill to also add Buster and Arts Resist Down.
...Still don't see how to use him, though.
I think the only buff that could outright save him would be one that turns him into another Servant entirely
I always love it when sunedunes posts another lowlight. These are the servants that really need to be seen by the players. Lowlight suggestion angra mainyu.
Thanks so much! And Angra is an interesting choice - I’ve been debating whether he should be included, and the more I use him (for some unknown reason I had him NP4 almost before I had a single 5*) the more convinced I am to include him...
ah yeah, that guy I used on the fate zero rerun to get a +1 to drops. I rememeber him. He stays waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay deep in my chaldea, collecting dust, and not the good kind! Very funny vid Sune!
Thank you so much! And yes, that’s exactly where he belongs. Aside from the Fate/Zero event (yup, the +1 drops were worth it!) he honestly brings...nothing (except horror)

In JP Gilles is still bad, but nowhere as useless as he used to be.
The NP Damage down skill was improved to be AOE (still 1T), Servant restriction lifted and inflicts 3T of AOE Buster and Arts resistance down. From 10 to 20% each at Max level.
It just goes to show there’s hope for any Servant in Chaldea!
...except Sanson. That man will never be able to defeat humanoids.

A way to improve Gilles would be to take notes from Fate/Extella Link and replace his generic Dark Caster Balls with Dark Shockwaves, huge energy balls and force fields. That, and a longer Noble Phantasm animation that's worthy of a spectacle of sacrilege and not just wet giant noodles. The material to make him the COOLest Caster is right there, he just needs a whole moveset facelift.
He needs an entire facelift, preferably one off planet Earth
if you combine the ataack debuff on hos np with asthetic apparition he might make so the party gets destroyed a bit less by an np. and the stun might maybe sometimes help stall. so he is probobly the worst stall support ever. thats the best guess i got
It’s really something to know that (provided you can access his NP) that attack debuff is really the only reliable thing about him

Don't know if this was mentioned in the comments already, but there is one thing about the Terror status not mentioned. The Stun from Terror- assuming it lands- while bypassing debuff checks from the enemy... Terror's Stun does NOT get buffed from outside sources. Which makes Caster Gilles' first skill COMPLETELY USELESS! Hecken Phantom in recent years finally made some use of his Charm, mostly in part of the on demand buff purge he got. This is just a sad excuse.
At least Caster Gilles can become better fodder for Chen once his second skill gets buffed next year.
I completely forgot it doesn't fit together - how is he even worse than I thought?!?!

I did grail mine to level 80 cuz I wanted all the Fate Zero silvers to have a golden border ~~
I can respect the Fate/Zero love! I have (albeit unintentionally) almost done the same now for Fate/Stay Night (sorry Medusa!)
I think one strong NP upgrade could save this man entirely.
It would certainly fix that farming issue 😂
