Anthony's energy here illustrates how crucial he is to RHCP's musical sound, and also how he doesn't need to be a perfect singer for them to be incredible
Exactly! What would RHCP be without AK? Without him JF might not be one of my favorite guitar players bc no one would have heard of him bc there would be no RHCP 😂😂😂 I'll never understand people who claim to love this band but hate their front man
@@habibrahmani628 He does, yes, but I think that is the only flaw there is regarding his performances. I think he is a great performer, energic frontman and a great lyricist. I know most of his lyrics don't make a lick of damn sense but damn, he knows how to make catchy songs.

I was born in 2002! At least you guys had a chance. I still remember hearing some songs from By The Way and Stadium Arcadium on the radio when I was on my way to Kindergarden xD
I think the early 2000s, not strictly musically speaking but because Anthony was off drugs and John was more confident in playing and songwriting. But maybe I'm biased by that information :)
I remember my older stepbrother was listening to Californication. And I was in 5th grade when Dani California was all over the radio. Didn't really discover RHCP until I was around 18 though.
full energy full volume , i love the red hot chili peppers , actually thats the only band i listen to , i mean i listen here and there to others but i never had a day without listening to rhcp , since 2003
@@felipeortega4975 I have no idea why they stopped Minor Thing, and really I'm speculating on Venice Queen: it's about their addictions counsellor that saved at least two of their lives from OD deaths
@@rink64 there's a lot of info out there about how Flea wasn't all that happy with the direction of the band for a while during BTW, so I could see that being a reason why there isn't more of that album played...would be nice, though
@@felipeortega4975 Venice Queen is about Gloria Scott, the band's addiction counsellor who likely saved the lives of 2 to 3 of the members, and Kiedis in particular. They bought her a house in Venice Beach. Tragically, she developed cancer and passed away. They wrote Venice Queen for her, and to me it's the best song they ever wrote. I believe they stopped playing it because it hurt too much to play it. It was last played on the By The Way tour in 2003 in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it was because Flea initially didn't like By The Way (album).
@Nick R there still is good music to play out there... like this th-cam.com/video/0izBfVu2w9o/w-d-xo.html dare to disagree? the problem is that the society is becoming dumber and dumber. that's why people prefer justin bieber. because they're literally stupid.

I feel like they wouldn't have started gigging right away anyway, so let's hope they've been having a fruitful and creative period and will realease a new album soon!
I never thought of this song as a pounding funk song ,but hearing it live seems to bring that out . I think By The Way stands alone in the Chili Pepper catalogue, it doesen't seem like a likley follow up to Californication but its unique and it took me a while to warm up to the album but now it is one of my favorites. I think it shows and adds to the depth of their song writtng capability, thes guys are song writing machines.Im grateful to have seem this video thanks.
John solo is so simple however it's so intense, full of emotion...Guitare skills don't make everything , you need creativity and John is the perfect exemple
WTH are you talking about, “he’s got guitar skills”?! Of course, he does!!! He wouldn’t be an RHCP guitarist (and a successful one at that) if he isn’t highly skilled. I’m not even sure why his skills are an issue nor a point of argument 😄
I can hardly put into words how much more enjoyable this version is in the studio. The raw energy in John’s guitar playing and Anthony’s stage presence here are just perfect. For me the main improvement is the dirtier rhythm guitar sound!
Couldn't agree more. I'm seeing them in May for the first time after being a lifetime fan, and as awesome as it will be, in the back of my mind i will be thinking of how much more awesome it would be if John was there.
With the exception of the non lyriced vocal fills all four of the boys sound SO on point here! It’s still crazy impressive because both John and Anthony go so high on the album track
Gracias, gracias, gracias...

great song, great album('by the way'), great band.. it's just weird that they decided to put this song closer to the end of the album and not promote it as a single...
This song touch the most deeply place of my soul
RHCP have that unique ability...something about their music man!

What an epic performance. Such a rarity to get Minor Thing live.
One of the greatest outros ever and definitely my favourite By The Way track.
And my favourite record from the Chili Peppers
Def one of my favorite on By the Way and def my favorite guitar outros too
Beautiful outro
Check Minor Thing live at Milan 2003, its amazing.
John his tone his timing his notes something to behold.
Johns voice is like hearing the cosmos melody,
his playing is like the birth of the universe twice over.

Underrated tune. Wish they'd play it more often. Essential rhcp to me, perfectly bridges the gap between melody and funk.
Love this song; can''t believe they only played it live 6 times. Makes about as much sense as why they stopped playing Venice Queen the same year.
Those are my top 2 chili peppers songs personally, sucks we may never hear them live again though
and why they stop playing these 2 songs?
