Gal Cesana Yes, he did. In one of VH1 type of interview/documentary. I saw it years ago on TV and found it on youtube after that. I can't seem to find it now though.
yeah chad is so underrated he never caused problems for the band, didn't temporarily quit or anything, he was always there just doing his job and more... thank you chad for being awesome
That's very true, I can't think of a bad situation for the band that was Chad's fault or flea's for that matter, it's always Anthony forgetting lyrics or john leaving the band, but man, even with that I love both of them, this is my favorite band.
@@roger_001John leaving the band the second time could be considered Flea's fault somehow because he wanted the band to take a break for an indefinite amount of time and then changed his mind two years into the hiatus. John was going through a period when he really wanted to enjoy a normal life and create his own stuff and was just not ready to get back touring the world for 150+ shows back to back. I'm not blaming Flea, I absolutely love all of them and the Chili Peppers is my favorite band ever since I was a kid. But the truth is that it's not just as simple as John woke up one day and decided to leave the band. Just as it's not like the band simply decided to bring John back and kicked Josh back solely because of that. There are always details we'll never know, just like in any random family.
i think a reason why this band is so good is that they compliment each other when they play and i dont mean verbally. everyones part fits in perfectly to create AWESOMENESS!
Foo Fighters said in an interview once that while they were on tour with the peppers during californication tour, Chad would be so wasted before getting on stage and still kill it on the drums and they said they had no idea how he could do it.
Holy shit I just cried that was just so beautiful I don't really know how to explain it. When John is just letting his heart out on the solo it's like you can feel it and Anthony feels it and yells it's just awesome. What beautiful emotion and just art and people
The last solo is the best one I have ever listened to in all my life. Better than confortably numb, fade to black and stairway to heaven, which are other amazing ones.
can you share more info or a link to the origin tune? it is very interesting. maybe john's mind connect to ancient spirits from another time and culture- [to tokai ngepet]
"I can't tell you who to idolize, you think it's almost over but it's only on the rise". "Throw me to the wolves cause there's order in the pack, throw me to the sky cause I know I'm coming back" = two powerful verses.
Holy shit I just cried that was just so beautiful I don't really know how to explain it. When John is just letting his heart out on the solo it's like you can feel
I think the fact that's it's not one of their singles and one of their promo songs make it even more epic. Because this way, it's like a more personal thing and it has more of a message and it's more individualized. Hence, makes it way more fucking cooler :D
Holy SHIIIIOT! What toe-tapper live there is so much energy. The whole band is rockin' out! Frusciante's solo here is my favorite, I think I replayed the solo a million times by now which is not enough considering the magnitude of it all!
thank you. Frusciante is my favorite guitarist ever. I love everything the dude puts out, but so many people fail to recognize jimi's clear influence on him.
I agree that without chad in this performance, the song would have been carried in whole different way and the solo at the end always gives me chills I mean just look at john when he's playing it it's mesmerizing
@@TheRubberMatch Chad is always epic. He leads the band, keeping the tempo in order. It might not sound much. But when you play in a band with a bass and guitar players like Flea and Frusciante- who likes to improvise a lot, and not only you can hold on your own, but to be able to dictate the band's performance, that's very impressive. And I believe that was the main reason why they hired him in the first place.
Everyone talking about Chad and Johns solo while Flea is just straight raping his bass like a god as usual so much respect for bassists you can hear and jam to alone
Blood Sugar has my favorite songs, but this album is so awesome. Frusciante returning was just what they needed. When Californication came out, I listened to it several times a day for 3 straight weeks. It was just that good!
@inael even if you could find all that talent in every member of a band, no band could emulate how well the chili's know each others style and how well they work together on and off stage. their improv is proof of that. legendary, enough said.
"The story of a woman on the morning of a war Remind me if you will exactly what we're fighting for Calling, calling for something in the air Calling, calling, I know you must be there" ❤
One of the best RHCP songs. RHCP is my favourite band of all times. I just can't stop listening to them. DAMN, thel will never come to perform in Israel! :'(
I think part of the reason John is tripping so hard on that final solo is the feedback/sustain on the notes, and how he's able to get some vibrato out of the feedback by moving his body and guitar. I think that's part of the reason he's "dancing" so aggressively, is he's using that movement for guitar vibrato. And -- I think the other thing tripping John out is probably Chad's drums. Chad's locked in.
This is "easily" one of their best performances.

To be honest Anthony sucks
Chad Smith:"What makes the Chili great is that we're a bunch of weirdos. And John is the weirdest of all."
Did he say it?
Gal Cesana Yes, he did. In one of VH1 type of interview/documentary. I saw it years ago on TV and found it on youtube after that. I can't seem to find it now though.
Chad seems to be the most normal of them all.
Can't sibling and looks like a homeless man who just crawled out of a dumpster he was sleeping in
"And he's the most ticklish guy in the band" 😂
Chad eats drums for breakfast
BigBad Bryant did you have breackfast man!!
That's my cousin !
The raw attack of Chad is the real star of this performance. Carried the whole song like a beast!
yeah chad is so underrated he never caused problems for the band, didn't temporarily quit or anything, he was always there just doing his job and more... thank you chad for being awesome
every member of the band is playing at 11/10 for this preformance. but yeah chads awesome.
Lol. He was going so hard that he went through about 4 drum sticks if you look closely.

That's curious! Today I had my tambourine signed by Flea

Simply amazing. The ending solo is so amazing and john made it even better with his head banging, jumping thing at the end

it's from basic javanese / balinese / indonesian traditional tune. trust me.

Finally a gig of this era where you can really listen to the bass.
This is easily RHCP's most unhyped song.
(No pun intended)
2:47 - 3:53
Frusciante sends me to the greatest place in the universe EVERY time
3:05 and beyond, you can just tell hes in another world.

thank you. Frusciante is my favorite guitarist ever. I love everything the dude puts out, but so many people fail to recognize jimi's clear influence on him.
That solo is amazing!!!! john is incredible.
I can't remember John rocking out to a song this hard since his return in 1998. He's just in the zone.
That whole body headbanging that John does at the end there is the perfect thing to do whilie you're listening to this song.
I agree that without chad in this performance, the song would have been carried in whole different way and the solo at the end always gives me chills I mean just look at john when he's playing it it's mesmerizing

This live version gets me so pumped up. Look how flea, john, and chad are all jamming to the music.
One of the best performance of Chad. Amazing.
only about 7 times better than the beatles.. maybe 8 but not more than 9
Be careful.
They rock a million times harder then the beatles, but I don’t know about the songwriting. Both legendary bands though
I've played a lot of RHCP baselines and I actually Flea's line during the chorus & solo of this song is one of the most fun to play.
Omg the best guitar solo ever!
This is such a raw performance. Love it
Its going to take a lot of years to find a band with all that talent in every member: Chad, Flea, Anthony and Jhon they´re all awesome.
i watch this performance multiple times every single day. you can just tell that they are so into every note they play.
why didn't they play this song more often?
Because the final solo would need like 6 guitars.
