Been asked the draw dims since the vid so here they are in mm. Deep drawer internally is 645(width) X 470(long) X 150(depth). Shallow drawer is 65(depth).
Definitely an interesting development, would be interested to know the internal drawer dimensions for the single drawer compared to the Toughsystem deep drawer and Tstak deep drawer
Hi Joseph, I don’t have access to the DXL now but approx depth of DXL deep drawer was roughly 15cm (if that helps?) and shallow drawer about 5cm. I took rough dims at the time. 👍🏼😊
It’s too big for most carpenters, it would be super for me on the commercial sites and schools etc. Those shallow ones look like spanner drawers etc… I’ve just bought the dolly as once on site, as I’ve poured the slab, it’s mm perfect so can skate around the slab with all tools in drawers and keep out the way of my subbies! Nice video!
Thank you for your video , great one . I see in the comments about the expense .. certainly but I did a rough comparison to the example of the DXL on your video 2 of DS carriers @ €150 /£127each 4 of Tough System 2.0 2 drawers @ €108/£91.50 each 2 of Tough System. 2.0 3 drawers @ € 128 /£108.50each Total =£ 837/€988 you can go up stairs and over rougher ground with this choice but in the DXL there is more space, lockable drawers , bigger tools can fit in them etc, so to me it’s a personal choice between the two as which you choose if you are into or dewalt storage systems smile😊keep up the great work .. Joe
The one specific area all of the rolling systems fail is the WHEELS, THEY NEED TO BE WIDER AND LARGER DIAMETER to make it easier to move around this is especially helpful in areas that are not paved hard surfaces, such as outdoor work locations. Yes you have to work there too! As a minimum the diameter should be nine inches and a width of five inches coupled with heavy duty braced lifting handles on each side this would significantly allow easy movement in any work environment.
Great video mate, love how you go into so much detail much more than anyone else has done on the system so far! What are the chisels you are using please the ones in the individual holders they look awesome?! Thanks in advance. Keep up the awesome work with the videos!
Nice one mate! Loads of work goes into every video I make so it’s really appreciated when people tell me they enjoyed them! 😄 The chisels are Hultafors Heavy-Duty chisels set (love Hultafors) and I found the best price was at a pro-builder toolfair. 👌🏼
Looks pretty cool but quite expensive. I think it would work best for maintenance personnel in a manufacturing environment. I don't see it rolling over the type of jobsites I'm on with stone parking lots and lots of up and down obstacles.
Yeah, I think you’re right regarding manufacturing and I also know a guy who builds fitted storage in his workshop then installs in homes who wants one… but it is 💰😓
I see this at World of concrete show and thought I’m having that when it comes out but at a grand I think I will give it a miss, the tough system with drawers is around 350 so how does this equate to another 650
Literally everything has gone up in price unfortunately.💰😔 I’d be genuinely interested to know what price you would be happy to pay for this setup? Roughly?
Great video . I was super excited when I saw this on the internet a couple of months ago. The price - WTF it is plastic boxes £1000K with a few metal runners. I know that I will probably end up getting it but it is so much money. Suit me as M & E maintenance technician at a large static site.
Appreciated! 🫱🏼🫲🏽😊 And I was exactly the same on all points. Saw images at World of Concrete and my eyes popped out… Jumped at the chance to go see it for real!
@@mos8541 Hilka Heavy Duty 5 Drawer Trolley that just so happens to be made of steel and not plastic for that price £170 and just in case you did not know this steel will outlast any plastic tool box in a work environment tenfold
It's so big and heavy that if it's loaded with tools, you might break your back when loading or unloading it from the car. However, if you store few tools, there is no need to load and unload huge boxes. All you need is a smaller, lighter rolling tool cart and a few boxes. Therefore, it is suitable for use in workshops or factories rather than for workers moving around construction sites.
The 2.0 inserts don’t fit unless you take the bottom out of the dxl and/or take the black handles off the inserts…else…the handles get stuck when you close and open.
I’ve found annoying little things too… I couldn’t fit the new cordless 1/2” router in the deep drawer. Its base plate was 10mm too big to fit! Literally why would you not test these obvious things!! 😩
Can see merit in the DXL but the MSRP misses the mark, unfortunately. Perhaps business owners will make the upgrade, but don't see general consumers doing the same en masse.
Glad you liked the review 👍🏼 Unfortunately a std circ saw is about 5cm too big due to the handle. I keep my DeWalt circ saw in a deep compact half size box which is a perfect fit with couple of batteries and would attach to the top of the DXL. Best thing about ToughSystem is you have options. 😊
Tempting as it might be you’re better of getting a small step ladder. The units are twice as big as TS2 deep storage boxes so deflect more… you don’t want to crack a draw unit if you just spent a grand on it! 💰😬
I'd like to have one, but $1000 is roughly twice the price I'd be willing to pay. There are lots of drawer systems available at a fraction of this price. Sad.
Are the DXL boxes made in Israel like the rest of the Toughsystem 2.0 boxes? That looks like fairly different materials compared to the toughsystem/packout plastic.
It’s no different from the standard ToughSystem… only safe way is one box at a time. The simple locking and unlocking of the separate units as demonstrated in the video mean it’s a quick process. 👍🏼😊
I think I’ll load my tough 2.0 drawers on the dxl dolly as don’t like 2 wheels on site, double stack them (4xunits) use the top as basic work area, it’s very unlikely I’ll get the DXL drawers as too big for carrying upstairs etc, tough 2.0 normal ones are often too big. I’ll still run the TStak wheeled trollies for electrical and smaller jobs as so easy to run around small areas.
It's awesome but too expensive,,it will come down in price I bet, the packout stuff is annoying if you work out of a van as the draws don't lock and the metal bars are annoying, the tough 2 draws are the go., DeWalt just needs to get more stuff out there
Love to know what you think of the DeWalt DXL concept and features, so please leave a comment below! ⬇️ 😉
